I started my car in the morning, per my usual routine. After a few seconds, I heard a very loud bang and the car stalled. A few seconds later, there was a large amount of smoke coming from under the hood. I opened the hood to see a large fire had started. My son, who heard the loud bang, came outside and saw the flames from under the hood. He ran into the house, grabbed a fire extinguisher, and attempted to put out the fire. He got the fire out but it was difficult. I had the car looked at by a mechanic and told me that the intake manifold had literally exploded. He has stated that he has never seen anything like this. It appears that the exploding manifold ruptured a fuel line. He told me there was a recall on this vehicle relating to a rupturing manifold and leaking fuel but that my vehicle had already had the recall performed. He thought that the new parts may be defective which is why I am reporting this incident.

Car has hard shift's that get worse when the car is up to temperature. Fuel gauge show's false reading. Two window regulators failed.
Brake lines rusting even though I replaced the rusty brake lines before. The first time they rotted through and I could not stop but fortunately I was going slow and used emergency brake.
Gas lines are rusty and look like they are about to leak gas and also I got stuck on highway because gas gauge did not work because ground wire to sender was broken.
I turn the ignition over didn't it did not even start yet a loud went boom and up under the hood was blazing with fire than my doors locked I could not get out I had to kick the opposite side and then I got out I had to call sleep fire rescue squad the fire was so bad it was going up under my carport and almost caught my roof on fire and almost did and did a little bit.
Tl the contact owns a 2001 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that a fire ignited without warning under the hood after the driver exited the vehicle. When the hood was opened, the contact noticed that the engine cover for the engine assembly and fuel system had flown off. The fire extinguished on its own. The vehicle remained parked at the contact's residence due to the failure. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 04v090000 (fuel system, gasoline) and NHTSA action number: ea02030 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the vehicle exhibited the same failures as the recall and NHTSA investigation. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

On startup the intake manifold exploded breaking the fuel supply line and catching the engine on fire.
I bought a car on June 17th I was told there was nothing wrong with the car so I told the woman I bought it from I wanted it inspected before I made a decision to buy it to make sure it was safe she brought it to her inspection station in it got in inspection sticker stating there was absolutely nothing wrong with it as I drove it home I noticed that it was bouncing up and down in that the front-end and back-end would hit the ground I had a friend look at it that knows about cars and told me that the front and back struts were completely gone and it also had for bald tires and there is oil splattered all over the engine I contacted the woman I bought it from and she will not return my calls and wants nothing to do with giving me my money back I also went back to the inspection station and asked how the heck did this car get in inspection sticker I was told to leave I need advice and where I should go from here.
Vehicle was brought in for a full fuel line replacement. Technician reported that the body and sub-frame are corroded to the extent that the vehicle should not be driven on the road.

Intake manifold failed water leaked internally into combustion chamber causing hydrolocking of engine. Upon researching causative actions I find that general motors is aware of this defect and has redesigned the faulty parts but disavow any culpability even though a conscientious owner who properly maintains the vehicle cannot know what is transpiring inside a composite materials intake manifold, many have been known to burst into a fire and destroy the vehicles. One would tend to believe this to be a significant safety threat that should be addressed in a recall to replace this recognized failure of significant numbers,I that would warrant manufacturers replacement to provide safe transportation. By the grace of god I noted the vehicle acting up and returned home just as the engine quit and now is hydrolocking due to coolant filling combustion cylinders.

I have had issues with my vehicle's oil leaking then burning/smoking off my car. This issue is on my engine's manifold & hasn't been recalled even though the same engine is recalled on other gm models. The engine on my Lesabre is the same 3. 8 liter v6 3800 engine that was recalled twice by gm in the past 6 years. My engine had minimal fire in the incidents I experienced but quite a bit of smoke from the area the oil leaks. Once I kill the engine the smoke stops. Gm wants to charge for a diagnostic check & wouldn't recognize the issue on the very same engine, viewing it as just a vehicle not recalled even if it has the same faulty part. It caused my car's catalytic converter to fail as it burned through. A fix is costly, so I went to my own independent mechanic to save myself money since gm does not want to take care of issues that they recalled. Below are the 2 recalls that should apply to my car & also the pontiac bonneville as well since they are both built on the same chassis, premise, & engine as the Oldsmobile intrigue. Both Lesabres & bonnevilles have the 3. 8 v6 naturally aspirated 3800 engine that runs in the recalled intrigue. Engine oil dripping on manifold may cause fire nthsa recall number: 15v701000 report received date: 10/26/2015 general motors llc (gm) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet lumina and Oldsmobile intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick regal and pontiac grand prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet monte carlo vehicles. Fuel gage not working properly. When needle gets between half and a quarter, it bounces back and forth from empty to full. Then at a quarter full, it goes to empty and stays there. You are never sure how much gas you really have and can cause the vehicle to stop suddenly. Happens when in motion and still on all roads.
I have been experiencing. Severe hesitation and loss of power. I have replaced the 3 ignition coils, the ignition module, new spark plugs, and a wire set. I have been reading alot about fires on this site. Yesterday 7/7/16 when I came home there was a loud weering sound, and once I turned off the engine their was a loud piercing whistle as if built up pressure was being relieved under the hood near the passenger side wheel well. Today again a lack of power, flashing service engine light, and no power. I afraid the engine might catch on fire as in other postings on this site.
Tl-the contact owned a 2000 Buick le sabre. The contact stated that when the ignition key was turned to the on position, there was an abnormal explosion from the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that smoke and flames came from under the hood of the vehicle. The fire department was notified. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A fire report was filed. There was no injury sustained from the vehicle fire. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 04v090000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 138,900. The vehicle was destroyed. Ah.
Our Buick had been running fine, but went to move it one morning. With a cold engine, as soon as we hit the starter, the engine exploded very loudly and started burning. After the fire was put out, it was determined that the entire intake manifold, along with the fuel lines had exploded in many pieces. From internet research, it was found that the fuel pressure regulator had a recall for vehicle years '98-'00, which these models had the same condition. Had I had the hood open at the time, I'd probably been hurt by flying chunks from the intake manifold. This is a very dangerous condition which could have easily caused bodily harm, even from fire to the passengers inside.
The contact owns a 1999 Buick Lesabre. The contact noticed a fuel odor and observed fuel leakage. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 169,000.
The gas hand said it was full, when I drove off the parking lot. . I didn't get off the road, when the car ran out of gas. Cars blowing horns.
I try to start the car and the car wouldn't start and then I tried to start the car again then I heard a big loud sound from the engine a boob sound. I notice smoke was coming from the hood. My brother was outside when the loud sound went off. My brother and I move the other vehicles out of the way so it wouldn't catch on fire. Went back over to the car my brother tried to pursue with the matter and he notice he was on fire under the hood while the smoke were coming from the engine it was to much for him to handle so he told me to call the fire department and did that. Engine was on fire spreading larger surrounding the tires on the front of the car while the engine was in flames. The police came and the fire department arrive a couples minutes after that. They spread it down with fire hoses and that was it. It not fixable and it scared very bad this is really bad so that's why I'm writing this to solve this matter .
First fuel gage would not work cost $400. 00 to replace system now my millage works when it wants can/t alway tell how fast I am going then all of a suden it will work.
Front suspension noise due to broken sway bar links rusted front right and front left. Front brake lines and fuel line badly rusted but not leaking yet. If front fuel line leaks it will leak onto engine rear to cause fire. If front brake line leaks I will not be able to stop car. I had reported to nhsta when my rear brake lines leaked preventing me from stopping in 2011 but luckily I was going very slow. My driver side window failed preventing me from opening window, needing replacement in may 2014.
The approximate incident date . Would not let me put date in . Date was july23'2014. My car has been stalling out on me when I was driving down the highway it stalled put in nutral started right up drove alittle ways samething happend. Checkenginelight came on got stuck on highway for 3 hours waiting for towtruck bad experiance. It is at sullivan tire check dionostics and said everything is all right I told him to take it for a spin he did and stalled out on him. Sullivantire is boggled. I was on line and and was checking what the problem could be and there is about 10 people that own the same car has same problem we tried getting it fixed its starting to cost some money trying to fix it. Ijust bought the car Jan. 2013. And stll owe money on it for 1 more year please help us thank you.
While I am drivin speed of 40/50/ car cuts of . Then is stalls tryn to start back up. Some time rite away it does . Some times is takes as long as 15 mins to 20 mins to start back up . Also when I stop braks jerk as if maninfold is messing up . And the windows wont roll up some times. So please help is there in defects or recalls for this vehicle Buick 2000 Lesabre??????????.
J & k mitchell casey, IL. 62420 purchased on 4/11/2014, 98,104 mileage. Headlamps go off at nite driving, very unnerving, fuel gage, haywire from the start, while driving, engine would accellerate when turning right. Swaying/suspension, when turning, driving down the road, reported this many times and taken into dealer. . However, never taken care of. Only thing fixed was solenoid.
Engine shuts off while driving, so far, only at lower speeds. Sometimes, by putting in neutral and turning key, engine starts again. Other times, it has to set for a while. Put new battery in 11/7/2013. Problem persisted. Three auto repair shops, including a Buick dealership, have checked it out, but it does not die on them in the amount of time its in their possession so I was told there was nothing they could do. Typically, it happens after it is driven at least 20 miles. Came very close to being rear-ended as I was unable to pull off the road enough to be out of the way on a road with hills and blind spots.
The brakes make a strange sound sometimes & stall;gas leak;undercarriage is weak.
Observed a strong gasoline odor after driving the car. The cause of the odor was a leak in the nylon fuel pressure line feeding the rear fuel rail on the engine. The leak in the line was caused by the engine shroud. The engine has a removable plastic shroud, and the edge of the shroud was rubbing on the fuel line and eventually cut through the line and created a pinhole leak.

Tl-the contact owns a 1997 Buick lasabre. The contact stated the intake manifold was crack causing the oil to leak in the radiator system. The engine started to ran rough and backfired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated the upper intake manifold was cracked and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified who stated there was a recall NHTSA campaign number: 96v116000 (fuel system, gasoline) but the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 46,000 and the current mileage was 49,000. Mw.
The contact owns a 2000 Buick Lesabre. The contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong gasoline fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic to be inspected. The failure was located as the fuel lines being defective. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 152,000 and the current mileage was 155,000.
Gas pedal sticks at idle position. This is not a problem in neutral but if in drive causes a sudden vehicle acceleration. This is very dangerous.
I think this is an ongoing safety issue that has appeared in previous model years (gm recall no. 03054b. See campaign 03v-473). This recall addresses the exact problem that has occurred with my 2001 Buick Lesabre. I called gm to see if there was coverage for it and they told me not at this time. This is a real safety issue because it causes a fire and it should be included in this recall. The damaged could have been avoided if this had been included and I think that gm should be responsible for the repairs since they did not fix the problem from previous years.
I found out that this gas line leakage issue exist in everyone that I know with this model vehicle. There is a fuel line clip that can be replaced. The clip is inserted at the end of the fuel line that connects to the engine but this clip doesn't last very long once replaced. Eventually the clip won't work anymore as if it is the fuel line itself that is bad. This issues seems to be a defect in this model Buick and is dangerous. I'm just wondering how can such an issue never been on the Buick recall list for this model car. Most people that have this car say that they have smelled the gas fumes and didn't know what it was. The gas actually leaks/ drip from the fuel line's clip onto the hot engine. ( can you say very dangerous) this is a lawsuit waiting to happen!.
Ever since I got my car, a 2001 Buick Lesabre, in approx 2006 I have had trouble with the gas gage, I can't trust it, it goes up and down, I have seen on the net that other people have had the same problem.
