My spouse was driving her 1999 Buick Lesabre east on interstate I-10 from slidell, la to gulfport, ms when the driver side rear tire lost it's tread. This caused her to lose control of the vehicle which veered left into the central median; made two 360 degree spins on the grass; and moved off the median and back across two lanes of the highway to stop on the right side bank of the road. Although the tire was partially inflated, the entire tread was gone. The damage to the auto included the following; torn rear bumper, metal damage to inner wheel well; wheel well lining torn out; well arch steel trim piece ripped off; and paint removed from rear fender and read door panels. My spouse received damage to shoulder and back muscles.

Before leaving to college station to go visit our daughter we stopped at discount tier to have the tire pressure checked. During the check the tech noticed that the right front tire had a very noticeable bulge and was told that the tires walls were beginning to separate. He called it a tire defect and his recommendation was to have the tire replaced in order to avoid a serious accident. I did pay for a new tire and have not driven the car since then due to safety concerns on the other 3 tires. I do not have the funds to pay for 3 new tires. We have been driving my tahoe since then.

Began with a vibration in the rear of the car. It got progressively worse. When I took it into the shop the first thing we noticed was the left rear tire was significantly out of round, large bubble on inside and outside of tire, treads were warped, belts separated. On August 17th, 2006, while driving 65 mph on the new york state thruway in the passing lane, I felt a severe vibration in the rear of my 2005 Buick Lesabre. Soon after, there was a very loud thumping and banging on the driver side and the car lurched upward. While struggling to maintain control of the vehicle, I was finally able to make my way to the right shoulder. I then discovered that the tread has separated from the casing and the shredding rubber caused extensive damage to the wheel well, bumper, paint, rear sensory wiring harness, and leveling control to the left rear shock. The tire never lost air and there were no punctures and the tire was only half worn and rotated on a regular basis. The tire was a general ameri-gs60.

Tire bulged out and lost pressure while driving on highway. Tires were original equipment on a new 2003 Buick Lesabre, bought in Nov, 2003. The tires were general tires, brand "ameri-gs60". As I was on a long range trip, the tire needed immediate replacement; the tire store said tire was defective and that the steel belt had given way.

I have been trying to contact your department since Nov. Of last year via the us mail system. Each time my letter has been returned. First reason was "not at dot headquarters", the second reason given was "insufficient information". . The address I have been given by folks answering your phone number was "national highway traffic safety administration 400-7th street washington, DC 20590"
after the second return I visited my post office to inquire about the return of undelivered mail. The answer given, to my surprise, was that the us postal department does not have a listing for you at that address. In their eyes, you are not there. Got to be a problem somewhere. So I ask again, what is your official mailing address? my event is too long to be fully described in this format as there is as much as 10 incidents relating to single
topic. The incident listed below on 8/19/05 was the next to last and caused property damage. The information being given is also referenced to the 8/19/05 incident only. Four of the incidents are the failures of the four original tires that came factory equipped with the vehicle.

When starting the vehicle the consumer noticed a light illuminated on the dash panel that read check tire pressure. The consumer drove to a gas station inspected the tires and discovered that the right front tire was low. The consumer added air to the tire but suspected there was a slow leak because the tire would not hold sufficient air pressure of 30/30 psi. The consumer drove to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased. These tires were the original tires that were purchased on the vehicle. The dealer noted that the steel was coming through the tread, but would not replace the tires. Dealer suggested that the consumer go to a general tire dealer because the tires were manufactured by general. The consumer went to redwood general tire dealer and they agreed the tread was coming through on the right front tire and suggested a replacement. The tire was replaced at the consumer's expense. The tire service shop said they would send the tire to the manufacturer for investigation. The consumer became concerned because he never received any further information about the tire so she decided to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer claimed that they never received the tire and that they would contact the tire service dealer. Some time later the consumer called general and they finally did agree to some reimbursement for the tire. The dealer informed the consumer the tread was separating.
