Control module failed as I entered the driveway, into my garage. The key could not be removed. Directional control was lost and the engine would not turn off. The battery had to be disconnected to turn off the engine. The key switch failed once before, when the tumbler within the ignition switch stuck open when the key was removed; but the ignition circuit remained open. Consequently, the battery went dead. Buick service diagnosed the failed switch, and determined the switch tumbler had stuck in the on position. The problem was corrected by lubricating the key switch internally. . . Updated 10/22/14.
