My Buick has been constantly breaking down and every mechanic has told me the same problem. It is the fuel pump and the fuse box under the seat. I never thought that I would have any problems since buying this car in 2016. But, I have had numerous problems and all I see are recalls on my Buick. Everytime I call in to complain and ask about the recall its always something new and that you guys can't do anything. This was my first purchase for my 21st birthday and I never want a Buick ever again. If there is someone that could help me regarding my fuel pump and fuse box please contact me and maybe you could do better and send me the parts to fix my car. This is ridiculous and I hope someone could contact me right away.

I put a new relay fuse in and drove around the block my check engine light went on. . So we rechecked the relay fuse and it was burnt out again. . There should be a recall on the relay and fuse box. This could start a fire. . I have 3 small children I need my car but at the same time I need it safe. . I looked online and about 10 or more people are having this same problem. . Please recall these parts. .

I am a widow living alone on a fixed income. I have less than 80,000 miles on my vehicle. Long story short. Vehicle wouldn't start - had it towed to shop - they put it on machine - showed fuel pump was out - put in a new relay, fuel pump, etc. Did not solve problem. Found later that fuel box, relay fried, partially melted area on fuse box . Fire hazard. Ending up paying over $1000 for repairs. Have been told repeatedly that this has been an issue with this type car and there have been no recalls. Also told that probably will happen again. I cannot afford this. Please help. There are hundreds of similar complaints. Why doesn't someone do something about this dangerous and expensive issue.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Lucerne. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact was informed that the fuel pump and relay failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The contact was informed that the relay failed. The relay was replaced three additional times, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.
The contact owns a 2009 Buick Lucerne. While driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to patriot auto sales (12100 lorain Ave, cleveland, OH 44111) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump relay switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred a week later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where they repaired the switch again. The failure recurred two days later and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer again. The dealer noticed that the fuse box and the relay switch were melted. The manufacturer was notified and could not determine the cause of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
Fuel pump relay burned out twice. Scorch marks from serious overheat possibly fire on bottom of rear seat. Car stops in middle of road when fuel pump relay appears to pop loose shutting off fuel to engine. Have to press and wiggle relay to restart car. Possible bad connection in fuse box under rear seat. . Recommend making manufacturers be prohibited from installing batteries and electrical fuse box from inside passenger compartment. High fire hazard in case of accident!!!.
Lost power while driving 65 mph on highway which caused power steering and brakes to become hard to use. I took it to mechanic and found that the fuel pump relay had over heated causing the fuel pump to stop. I looked on recalls on the internet and saw where this has become a common problem with these cars and that general motors refuses to issue a recall. This is a very danervous condition and needs to be corrected.
Car would turn over will not start. Mechanic said that fuse under seat over heated. Purchased with 95k 7 days ago. After researching this is aknow issue for this model. I have it towed to a dealer I see fuel pump may need to be replaced as well. Will it take a fire or a highway accident before Buick has to uwn up to this dangerous problem. I am sure you are aware of the problems with this model. Car was staitionary but what can prevent this happening to the owners drivng in motion.
The contact owns a 2009 Buick Lucerne. While attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to operate. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and fuse bock needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Engine stalled after starting and driving about 20 yards in a parking lot. Then would crank but not start and had burning smell inside car. Had towed to dealer and they found a melted fuel pump relay and fuse box located under rear seat. They said there was a potential fire hazard if didnt replace fuse box too. Car had 106,079 miles at time.
Fuel pump relay burned out 3 times in less than a month, and the car would not start, causing the fuse block to burn. The first time, the vehicle was parked in the garage, and wouldnt start one morning, causing me to have to call off work. The next time, vehicle was in motion, on a city street, on my way to work one morning, and the power steering and acceleration died, causing me to have no control of the vehicle.
Car would crank over but would not start. Had fuel pump and burnt relay replaced and and an hour later the car fuel relay failed due to overheating.
The contact owns a 2008 Buick Lucerne. The contact stated that after shutting the vehicle off, the vehicle would not immediately restart. While inspecting the vehicle it was discovered that the fuse box and fuel pump had melted. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The car cranks but does not start. I have had the car into the dealer 3 times and purchased spare relays and spare fuse box . Car became very unreliable. . . Never knew when it was going to start. I replaced fuel pump relays 8 times until my third (and hope final) visit to dealer . Total bill so far about us$1700. 1st visit (Sep 15 2015)- they replaced fuel pump and relay. Car ran until. . . . . 2nd visit (Dec 01 2015) - they replaced fuse box with used because gm did not have any new ones at any warehouse!!! they read bulletin 15-na-051 that referred to fuel pump relay problems due to rear seat clip and modified seat clip so it no longer protruded into fuse box cover. After this visit relay was fried upon starting about 5 times until. . . . . Jun 22 2016 - visited dealer (after phone calls not answered) to discuss repeated problem and possible causes with service manager - found a deep mark in fuse box cover - indicated that used fuse box I had been in contact with av seat clip . . . 3rd visit ( Jun 23 2016) - they checked wiring between fuse box and fuel pump carefully at my request and replaced the used fuse box with new one. So far after 10 starts it still works and I am a little bit more confident that we have found the problem (damaged fuse box terminal due to seat clip?), but only time will tell. Gm's lack of interest in this problem is disgusting. . . I have read over 60 complaints for this car from 2006-2011 models and no doubt this is a small sample. It is the most common complaint for the Lucerne on complaint websites. The bulletin re the seat clip (an easy diy fix) is not available publicly . This would save much frustration and dollars. -- despite the fact that this was a common and serious problem with this car, gm did not stock new replacement fuse boxes.
Fuel relay burnt so replaced fuel pump and relay and my brand new relay just burnt up while sitting in driveway my wife was driving the car when car stopped as she was leaving the parking lot of a friends home where I changed the fuel pump and found out relay was burnt and now it's melting relays.
Fuel pump shorts out and melts the fuse box this was with the car parked in the driveway could be a fire hazard if this happens you lose all control of the car and makes it a death trap.
The contact owns a 2008 Buick Lucerne. The contact stated that the vehicle had an abnormal burning smell and would not operate. In addition, the cruise control did not operate. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuse box overheated and melted, which caused the fuel pump and various other electrical components to malfunction. The technician diagnosed that the fuel pump and fuse box needed to be replaced. The vehicle needed to be recalibrated. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.
Vehicle was stationary in driveway. Vehicle would not start. It had worked fine the day prior. The vehicle was cranking and clearly had power but would not turn over. I noticed that I could not hear the fuel pump prime when the key was turned. Like many others, I found the fuel pump relay to be charred like it had been burning. The fuse block was also melted at pin 30. This is such a fire hazard being under the back seat, dealing with the fuel pump, and overheating like it does. It seems to be a commonly reported problem and I cannot believe there has not been a recall. Currently waiting on parts to replace the melted fuse block and the relay.
Driving down the road the car quits and cranks but no start. Found fuse box at fuel pump relay melted together. Cleaned terminals and replaced relay drove car 20 miles to have it do it again. Fuse box get hot and it is located under rear passenger seat next to battery. I have read where other people with same year, make and model having the same problem and around the 70,000-80,000 mileage. I feel that it is a safety problem in both accidents and fire.
My 2009 Buick Lucerne that I use in my daily commute to work did not give me any issues until that Friday,10/23/2015. I tried to start my vehicle that morning and it seem as if it was not getting any fuel. Had the vehicle tolled after contacting my extended warranty company. Monday I received a call from the dealership that the problem was diagnosis as the fuel pump relay has not only overheated but has melted the fuse box. My concerns are that this could have occurred while I was driving, also this seems to be a known but not publicized issue by both the manufacturer and the insurance company. Too many identical incidents have occurred and has been reported, yet no one has received any reported action to correct this dangerous problem. It does not take a mechanical expert to know that a device that can cause fire to something associated with the fuel system is a matter of great concern. Hopefully this problem will be taken seriously before something fatal happens.
Vehicle would not start in the garage. Had it towed to a local garage where the diagnosis was failed fuel pump relay. Fuel pump relay overheated and melted the fuse block. The 20 amp fuse for the fuel pump relay did not fail. A visual inspection of the relay shows an internal burn mark between pins 85 & 86. Since this block is under the rear seat, on which my grandchildren our strapped in I am concerned about the chances of fire. As far as I can tell their is no recall, but a quick search of the internet indicates an ongoing problem.
I was driving down the highway when my car just stopped running. Luck had it I wasn't on an interstate, thirty minutes later I would have been. (I'm a retired mechanic of 48 years. ) up on checking the car I found that there was no fuel pressure. Had the car towed to gm auto center in laramie, wy. I told the service writer that I presumed that the fuel pump had went out. When the tec. Ran diagnostics and a visual check they found that the fuel pump control module and fuse box were burnt. The tec. Told me that he had seen this before and showed me another fuse box with the exact damage. After returning home I was told by another mechanic that one of his customers had the same problem. This is a serious problem as all these items get melting hot and are located under the back seat just in front of the gas tank which is plastic and the seat is nothing but foam creating a serious fire hazard. I had the recall on the ignition switch done. After my experience with my car I think it was a smoke screen for the real problem the fuse box, fuel pump control module or fuel pump. No one wants to take this seriously. This all started on 09/25/2015 car millage 61855. I have the items in question.
Having a problem with the car not starting. It was stationary in the garage. Had it tow to garage. They diagnosed it was a fuel relay burning up. A new relay did start the car. We took a short trip out of town and the car stopped running. . . Left us stranded on the highway. The relay gave out again. A mechanic will now look into the fuel pump replacement. And electrical box under the seat.
The contact owns a 2010 Buick Lucerne. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical system). In addition, the contact, who was a certified auto engineer, stated that the relay for the fuel pump heated up and melted, causing the fuel pump to stop functioning. The contact replaced the relay, but the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,800.
We were out of town when car failed to start, not battery related. Had to be towed to service center where they diagnosed, inspected, and replaced the fuel pump relay. On 10/01/2015, 2000 miles later similar incident except this time my local mechanic. He cleaned all cavities, applied dielectric grease, checked the fuel pump amperage at 7. 5, tightened all relay contacts and replaced relay. Bad relay had scorch marks around several pins. On 10/07, 500 miles later, same scenario except this time replaced fuel pump module. On 10/10, again no start, similar, symptoms. Mechanic came to my house on 10/12, could get car to start after several tries, testing and manipulation of components , but immediately shut it down since relay was very hot. Concerned over safety, had to replace the whole module. Replacement module was definitely an upgrade to original and was such because of, I understand, the failures experienced with the originals and concern over starting a fire. I now understand that several fires resulted from this problem. Fortunately, although tremendously inconvenienced both in time and expense, no one in our family was injured nor were we the cause of any accident which on the highway could have been disastrous.
Car cranked but would not start. Diognostic indicated fuel pump was unable to get pressure. Recommended by technician to replace fuel module. Car started following installation of fuel module. Following a complimentary wash car would not start. Technician determined that fuel pump relay and block had been burned. Because I was concerned that I had paid for parts and labor that were not necessary, I did research on line and found that the fuel pump relay burn out had been a problems since 2006. Online I noted that many complaints have been made concerning this fuel pump relay. According to several people who have had this problem, it is very dangerous as the fuel pump relay and block actually creates enough heat to cause gas tank and battery to ignite. Since this apparently has been a problem since Lucerne 2006,why has this problem not been addressed as it is life threatening?.
6/2/15 vehicle would not start, full power and crank but would not engage. Car towed to Buick dealer where I purchased car. Ck ecm codes - none ck ign and fuel system - no fuel pressure - ck fuel deliver system found fuel pump failure. Replaced fuel module assembly. $624. 00. 6/08/15 vehicle wouldn't start. Pulled relay for fuel pump and put it back in and it started. I drove it back to the dealership. They checked fuel pump relay, found rear fuse panel damaged due to poor connection at fuel pump relay. Replaced rear fuse block. Cost $291. 00. After doing some research problem seems common and stems from an obvious problem with these fuse boxes. Read there was a national backorder on these fuse boxes at one point. Sounds like this should of been a recall and replaced for free.
The fuel pump relay overheated and melted in the fuse box. I had to have the relay and fuse box replaced. The mechanic told me that the fuse box could have started a fire. He told me to google the problem with my car because hundreds of other car owners have had the same problem. Sure enough I did just that and I saw hundreds of people with the same complaint about this model car. Gm needs to be held accountable. Are they waiting until somebody dies first before they acknowledge the problem of the fuel pump relay and the fuse box? btw I had to replace the fuel pump.
After returning from a two hour trip I parked my car at home. The next day I tried to start my car and it would only turn over. A mechanic found the fuel pump defective, fuel pump relay burnt and the power panel burnt as well.
While driving in petoskey the car started to miss an backfireing then the motor stop running. I couldn't stop or steer the car. After I got the car finely stopped the car wouldn't start up an I could smell like wire burning. I had the car delivered to an auto shop brown motors in harbor springs mi. After the diagnos they found that the fuse block under the rear seat was burned up at the fuel pump fuse, an was on fire at one time. . The fuse block was beyond fixing an needed a new one installed. There was a recall on the ignition switch, but this isn't what is wrong with these cars, I don' believe that the ignition switch on there recall are what is wrong, I believe that the fuse block is what wrong with there recalls when the fuse shorts out the fuel pump stops an so does the car motor. Strange that the car dealers for some reason has them in stock, there should be a recall on all car with this type of fuse box, this is what causing these car to stop running an get in a accidents. To day I got lucky.
Had car towed to dealership on 12/17/14. Car not starting and stalling. Had battery replaced and next day car would not start again. Stalled and making noise under hood and in rear by battery. Took back to dealership and they stated could not replicate problem therefore no solution to be found. Told car was ready after waiting approx. 4 hrs. For them to try and replicate car shutting down. It just kept turning over. Car once again shut off and would not start. Left car and they told me fuel pump module was melted and needed replacement. Also rear fuse block was melted and terminals in fuse block connectors overheated/spread apart. Replaced fuel pump module and rear fuse block and repaired wiring in fuse block connector. This is a rather serious problem on a 2010 with approx. 47,800 miles. Very dangerous for it could have caused a crash or fire in the car.
