1 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 02/21/2024

Several malfunction indicator lights in dash appeared suddenly. Car would not start after shutting off. Finally started and drove to repair shop. Diagnosed as faulty ride height sensor. Shop searched for part at several dealers and online and found the part was discontinued in 2021. I contacted Buick and was offered $1500 off on a new gm car. I have not received any suggestions on how to repair the car or remove malfunction indicator lights which I specifically asked for. The repair shop is waiting for me to find the part and I have not been able to find one. Dealers have no answer and neither does Buick. The repair shop says it will start if sensor is unplugged but suspension will not work and dash will still have malfunction indicator lights. It is my opinion to operate under these conditions, it would definitely be hazardous.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 10/02/2021

I purchased the car from Buick spec dealership in prosser wa on Aug. 2, 2021. The car was sold to me with rocket panel damaged, the rear brakes- rotors needed replaced and one side brake completely gone. . The pins frozen. The cars transmission fluid dark dirty. . Low on oil. . No coolant or wiper fluid at purchase. They brought car to me during covid. The door didn't shut properly I assumed the rubber around door needed replaced and I planned to have it repaired until I seen a bulge under my driver's side door. Took it in and was told by 2 certified auto body places the rocker panel was damaged. My car started to shimmy when stopping and now the prior recall of fuse relay box burning caused my car to be currently sitting. I don't understand how they could sell me a car like this and this is my complaints. I want my repairs done and money reimbursed I've already paid for. The dealership said because I purchased car as is. They aren't responsible to fix. I've owned the car a little over 3 months. This seems unfair and I want answers!!!.

6 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 12/30/2016

Our 2008 Buick Lucerne was in the hov lane traveling on 84 w toward hartford, CT. Without warning - no warning lights came on - the car started to decelerate. My daughter tried to accelerate and nothing happened; she then tried to brake to pull over and was unable to freely turn the wheel. She struggled to move to safety to the shoulder on the side of the road but then felt the steering wheel and brakes lock completely as the car stalled. When she attempted to restart the car to move to safety, the car violently shook. Since the car was still partially on the highway, my husband and I called the CT state police to request help while my daughters were waiting for aaa. When the trooper arrived on the scene he called us to say that the car was partially in the road and that two cruisers were there to ensure the safety of our daughters. The car was towed to our service station of 25 years in scranton PA and found that the fuel pump relay post had overheated and melted. A diagnostic test did not reveal any problems either. The car had to be towed one week earlier to this same station because the car was shaking violently. After a diagnostic test revealed nothing, they determined that the car was low on fuel (and that it wasn't a fuel pump issue). We then drove the car another 517 miles without incident. I have found that complaints have been filed with Buick (I have filed one too) regarding this problem and that fires have resulted from the overheating. These complaints indicate that sometimes the car starts, sometimes it doesn't. I believe these 2 incidents, one week apart, were related and that both times, no warning or diagnostic test revealed a problem. If my daughter had been driving on the 4 lane highway leading into hartford and this problem occurred, I have no doubt that she and my other daughter would have been in a serious, if not fatal accident.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

I was told my garage kept Buick lucern with 18,000 miles needs gas line and brake lining replacement because of rust.

8 Service Brakes problem of the 2010 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

I was driving east bound on interstate 20 approximately 7 miles west of sweetwater texas on July 11, 2014, when I was struck from behind by another vehicle (that left the scene. ) the jarring caused me to lose power so I was unable to steer or to brake, which sent my car crashing into a guardrail; furthermore, the airbags did not deploy at all. I was uninjured, but I have checked the gm website and to date, that car (which was totalled) has not been included on their list of recalled vehicles, though it clearly had the same electrical problem that all the recalled gm vehicles have with the loss of power. I had not been directed to remove anything from my key ring, but all that I had on it was the key fob. Clearly, this vehicle should have been recalled. I was uninjured, but only because the car's chassis held up well and I had my seat belt on. Also, I have many pictures to demonstrate the lack of air bags.

9 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 05/21/2014

Car died while driving it. Lost power steering and brakes. Had car towed to dealer. It was diagnosed as having a faulty ignition module. I was lucky I was not on a highway at high speed. Given the company recalls on ignition parts on other nameplates, it is likely that the Buicks are also seeing ignition problems and failures but gm has not issued a recall for this car platform. I hope that no one is seriously injured or killed before this defective part is recalled. I consider myself lucky.

11 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

When bringing the car in for grinding brakes, my mechanic informed me that my rack and pinion was leaking and my rear struts were broken and leaking. (this was later confirmed with a Buick dealership). I was informed that my car would not be able to pass my yearly inspection without the rack and pinion repair. I was also informed that the repair would be quite costly. I was stunned since I have had nothing but complaints and repairs with this car which I am still paying for, the last past two and a half years respectively. I only have the car for four years. I feel the car is too young to have so many issues especially something as serious as a rack and pinion repair needed. This is a safety issue. I cannot drive the car like this except locally and I have to watch the power steering fluid which I have been doing. I also cannot drive it now since my inspection is expired. I do not have the money to pay for this right now and I have had exhaustive issues with this car. I approached Buick and they are not receptive. The car is no longer in warranty.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 01/04/2013

The warning light came on and stated service stabilitrac and then went off. Two weeks later came on again, and went off. The car began to shake and vibrate as brakes were applied when stopping. About a month after that the traction control light came on and the car began applying the brakes at a speed of about 50 miles per hour and making a noise that was loud enough to hear as it sounded like the pressing of the brakes to the wheel hubs. My wife and daughter and I turned arouned arouned went back home and parked the car and drove my truck to visit other family members that day. Two weeks later I took the Buick 2006 Lucerne to have a gm certified mech put it on the diagnostic machine and the reported that nothing showed up as needing replaced.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 11/12/2011

We were slowing to make a left turn when we lost all power we coasted to the curb and when I tried to start it there was a clicking as if it was a low battery. After a few minutes it started but ran rough but was able to get it home a few blocks away. Had it towed to a dealer and they could not find the problem. A week later it happened two more times and was able to get to the dealer who could find no problem. We had no more problems for four months and then it happened again. We took it to the dealer for the fourth time and again they could not find anything. We have contacted g. M. Customer svc. Twice and Buick customer svc. Who have opened a case file 71-129-047-0623. And suggested we contact a Buick dealer in oregon when we get home. We live in oregon and spend winters in calif. So now we must drive a 1000 miles not knowing when or if our car will suddenly die.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 10/09/2011

Around or about October 2011, while traveling at approximately 40 mph, my 2007 Buick Lucerne's engine suddenly shut off. This caused the loss of power steering and brakes (and airbag?). Fortunately, I was on a secondary road and managed to get the vehicle to the side of the road without any problem. Initial efforts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful, so I called aaa for assistance. After about 15 minutes, and before aaa arrived, I was able to restart the car and drove home (it was a Sunday). The next day I drove the car to the dealership where I had purchased it (new) just over five years before (it was just out of warranty). After what I was told was a complete check, no apparent reason for the engine quitting could be found. I drove the car home and around town for several days, when the same thing happened again. This time when I took the car to the dealership I told my service consultant that I refused to drive the car, which I occasionally used to transport my young grandchildren, until the problem had been diagnosed and repaired. We agreed that one of the mechanics could use it for his personal use until the problem reoccurred. And it did. A few days later the dealership informed me that the car had again stalled, that the problem had been diagnosed, and that there would be no charge when I picked up the vehicle. The problem, I was told, was "in a computer" that had been replaced. I drove the car for several months after that (before selling it), and the problem did not reoccur. I brought this to the attention of both general motors and on-star (the latter, just in case the shutdowns had been prompted by that system) and nobody would acknowledge that similar incidents with Buicks had occurred: and they still won't. A cursory search of the internet shows similar problems with other Buicks, yet they are not included in any recalls. Why not? thank you.

15 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 06/25/2011

While driving at 55 m. P. H. Going downhill at a 6% grade vehecle's front end and steering column started vibrating violently. Pullled over and let car sit for 30-45 minutes, then traveled on. Took car to Buick dealer and found rotors severly warped. Rotors were turned(machined) and car brakes were o. K. For next 2-3000 miles. Driving at 55m. P. H. Noticed pulsation/vibration when applying brakes. Took car to local dealer and they did not seem it was anything to worry about. Drove car at 55 m. P. H. On highway and vibration and pulsation became worse. Took car to a national retaler and had to have rotors replaced with heat dissipating rotors. Car should have had these type rotors to begin with due to size and weight. This problem could cause a fire or the inability to stop when needed, causing possible serious accidents.

Failure Date: 01/20/2010

The brakes when applying coming down hills make the front end shimmy and shake and it does not want to slow the vehicle down according to the brake pressure being applied. This is a very serious problem and I called the dealer here in butte, mt and they said she thinks this is the way it is. The problem has gotten somewhat worse as time and use of the brakes increase and it is becoming as masjor issue for us. We love the car but this needs to be looked at as soon as possible. 21 Service Brakes problem of the 2008 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 05/03/2009

When making a turn where there is a puddle of water, the engine dies, and I lose control of the power steering for serval seconds, it seems to mostly happen when making a right turn through water. I'm not talking about a lot of water. The dealer maintenance dept. The last time I spoke to them, and for the first time in 8 years, of complaining of this problem, the service manager said it is because the engine is mounted sideways, and when the water hits the fan belts it causes it to slip, which makes it seem like the engine has died. On 10/20/2018 I have reached out to general motors and got no place, they said that the dealership suggest that I bring it in for them to diagnose the problem, and for which I would have to pay for that, and any repairs that is needed, because it is out of warrantee. This is totally unfair, for I have had this problem for over 8 years, 6 of which were under warrantee. This is so wrong with the dealership and general motors handling of this issue that I felt it should be broth to the attention of your dept. To look into it, and get them to do a recall if it is possible. On your web site under vehicle complaints there are other people who have complained about this very same problem. So I am not the only one, it is the car.

22 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

Recently noticed when brakes are applied that the pedal will slowly sink to the floor causing my foot to be pressing the gas pedal at the same time. At a stop light it causes the anti brakes to come on and to proceed through the stop light.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 08/15/2007

While driving at 55-60 mph in 5:00 p. M. Baton rouge, la traffic on joor road, I heard the doors automatically lock, then the engine died, I lost power including steering, brakes, and almost caused a terrible pile-up as my car stopped in heavy traffic. I had no ability to steer, brake, no power. I was at the mercy of god and this dead car, praying that no one was killed. I eventually was able to coast to a stop. Other vehicles were able to move to other lanes, abandoning me to the right hand lane of traffic. I called onstar and they should have the recording of the conversation, the terror I was in, and their instructions. I have 4 recorded incidences of the repetitive nature of this vehicle malfunction. I can provide details of all incidences, follow-ups with gm, and eventually having to payoff the piece of "junk" at a loss of over $20,000. My last gm purchase. I have since been driving toyotas. My experiences with gm management was horrific.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Buick Lucerne

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

Experienced front end vibration on delivery. Dealer did a wheel alignment but a slight vibration continued. Eventually it increased and I took it to a independent for balancing and rotation but the problem persisted. The dealer analyzed it as "defective" tires on the front and replaced them. As I drove home the car pulled to the right. Took it back to the dealer and they switched the left front to the right and the right front to the left and claimed that would fix the problem. The car began to shimmy and vibrate badly. Returned to the dealer and they found my right front brake defective. As I left the dealer I noticed that there still is a vibration. Tried for 10 days to have gm talk with the dealer but they continually told me they had not been able to reach them. Because this car had the defective instrument panel that no one can see during daylight hours, front end and brake problems I deemed this Buick Lucerne unsafe and have sold it to a dealer.
