After filling engine to full, under normal driving conditions, fuel sensor dropped all the way down to empty and the low fuel light came on. Later, it came back up but level doesn't reflect what it should be. I have resorted to resetting my trip odometer and filling up when it nears 300 miles so I know I won't be stranded without fuel. This has occurred on numerous occasions in the last two months.

1) fuel gauge - the fuel gauge has done a 180, the needle is now upside down. And doesn't work really. I searched the internet and found out the there is a recall on 2005- 2007 Buick Rainiers but not on my 2004. Maybe with my complaint, maybe it will include 2004 models. 2) drives door lock - the car key will no longer open the car door. I can only open the door with the remote button.

Fuel gauge showed more fuel than what was actually in fuel tank causing vehicle to stall while driving. Fuel gauge now reads empty at all times even when tank is full.

I have been doing research and I have noticed that there are many people that are dealing with the same issues I am which includes gas gauge failure (false readings) and speedometer reading incorrectly. The amount of people dealing with these issues should be enough to place a recall on those clusters I would think. I have never had so many problems with a 2005 vehicle before like I have had with my 2005 Buick Rainier. I have ran out of gas many times because of this issue leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Something has to be done.

The contact did not call the manufacturer regarding the fuel gauge failure. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunction could have caused the vehicle to run out of fuel on the highway. The failure mileage was 80,000.
2004 Buick Rainier speedometer & gas gauge went haywire at 43,000 miles. The needles pointed randomly and the gas gauge showed 180 degrees off the markings, pointing straight down. Complained to the dealership, who stated this was a known defect and replaced the entire unit for a $100 deductible even though the car was out of warranty.
