On 2/29/12 I came back from the grocery store and parked my vehicle and unloaded my groceries and returned to my vehicle which was left running. I put my vehicle in drive and proceeded to do a uturn and had put the vehicle in reverse to prevent collision with other vehicles parked on the odd side of the street. When I put the vehicle in reverse the car just stalled, it did not move at all. I looked at the dashboard and it keep informing me that the fuel was low. This was impossible due to the fact I knew I had over a half tank of gas in my vehicle. I had to put the vehicle in park and re-start the car to continue parking the vehicle. I live on a very busy street and luckily there was no traffic coming when my car stalled. The incident occurred again on 3/4/12 when I went to start my vehicle and the dash indicated that the fuel was low but this time the gas gauge proceeded to beep and the orange low fuel indication light came on and the gas gauge needle began to move to e and then the car stalled once again and I was unable to move the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 Buick Rainier. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was providing inaccurate fuel level readings and would read that the tank was empty when it was actually full to capacity. When the tank was empty, the fuel gauge would read that the tank was full. The dealer informed the contact that her warranty would not cover the cost to repair this particular failure. The manufacturer advised the contact that they would only be willing to cover fifty percent of the repair costs. The contact was awaiting repairs. Fuel gauge works erratically. When the gas tank is filled completely the fuel gauge reads low and dings the "low fuel" alarm. Gauge then climbs toward full as you speed up and then repeatedly drops to the low fuel alarm. The faulty fuel level could leave you stranded on the highway with no gas if you are not tracking your fuel level.

Filled fuel tank and gas gauge went to empty, turning on the low fuel light and the check engine light. The fuel gauge indicator bounces from empty to full. After a few miles the fuel gauge needle stays in range but as I get closer to needing gas it does not read accurately and I cannot tell for sure if I might run out of gas. My concern is running out of gas when in heavy traffic, fearing for my safety and that of any passengers. I believe this is indicative of a design flaw and needs to be adequately addressed by gm. I have a recall that indicates they would pay half the cost at a gm dealership, this is unacceptible to me. I am not half responsible for this design flaw. This is a serious safety issue and should be completely addressed by gm.
Fuel level sender in the gas tank fails, gauge is unreliable and indicated full tank or empty tank randomly. Can indicate a full tank with only a little bit of fuel left.
When fuel tank is filled to full, fuel gauge reads empty and low fuel warning appears on driver information center. Fuel gauge starts to indicate fuel level when fuel tank is about 1/2 full. Fuel level indication is very inaccurate when fuel level approaches 1/8 tank. Very easy to run out of gas.
Fuel guage will drop to empty and the low fuel light will come on, the driver information center will sound an audible alert and will show low fuel indicator. When you have a full tank of gas it will show a full tank and stay there until you use about 1/8th of a tank and then the fuel guage start malfunctioning. Some times the fuel guage will show full and some times it will show empty and all the bells and whistles will activate. I took it to the dealer where I bought the vehicle and they told me gm was aware of the problem and that gm would pay 1/2 of the repair costs which are about $145. 00 and the vehicle owner would pay the other 1/2 of the costs. It would take about 2 hours to repair. This is a known problem by gm.
The fuel gauge on my 2006 Buick Rainier is malfunctioning. The problem started about 6 months ago and is now continual. It does not give accurate fuel levels. Sometimes when the tank is full, the gauge reads empty, and vice versa. This is most definitely a safety issue !!! I was on the freeway the other day and ran out of gas (even though the fuel gauge showed nearly half-a tank. ) this could've resulted in serious injury or death to myself and/or others. As I understand it, there are many instances of fuel gauge malfunctions on GMC cars of this vintage. There needs to be a government mandated recall of affected vehicles before lives are lost because of this component failure. My Buick dealer wants over $500 to correct this problem, which is not the result of wear and tear or carelessness or misuse on my part, but rather the failure of a critical safety device. The consumer should not be required to bear this financial burden.
Fuel gauge stopped working. Gauge became erratic reporting low/no fuel when tank was filled. Fuel gauge continuously bounces between full and empty. Behavior continues to exist. Can't rely on fuel gauge to determine when a fill up is required. Currently calculating mileage to next fill up by tracking mileage. Flashing low fuel light is distracting.

No gas guage, it reads empty even when the tank is full. Low fuel light is constantly on, and when I am truly getting low on fuel, it may bounce to an area between e and 1/4 tank mark. I am having to pay attention to the miles I drive and hope that the mpg at 15. 9 is accurate since nothing else seems to be.
Approximately 6 months ago after getting gas at a gas station, I noted my gas gauge in my 2006 Buick ranier to read "empty" despite having just filled it with gasoline. For a short time afterwards, my gas gauge fluctuated despite my gas levels. My check engine light also came on every time I filled up my tank. The vehicle fuel gauge is erratic and inaccurate! when the tank is filled it shows empty and displays a low fuel level warning. As the tank draws fuel it fluctuates between full and empty. At one point it would stabilize at a certain level but nowadays it either shows full or empty. I track mileage and fuel use but would not trust the vehicle for safety concerns with other family members since there is no sure fire way to know if/when the vehicle will run out of fuel! I only let them use it when I know it is full and they are only making short local trips.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Buick Rainier. The contact stated the fuel gauge on the vehicle does not read properly. The contact stated that even if they fill the gas tank, the gauge will read empty or half fuel. The contact took the vehicle in for an oil change and was told there was an investigation into the fuel gauge, but the contact was not told what caused the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. Rl.
Having difficulty with driving vehicle. Seemed to be over road. Several evaluations at car dealership, different fixes without resolutions. Finally the air system which regulates the balance, height etc stopped functionally. The car sits low to the ground. I first started complaining of unusual noises from the speakers of the car. Approximately 9 months ago. Dealership did not know what that could be. Now I am told the compressor and the shock system is gone. The cost to fix is 3000. 00 I have found a company who has an adaptive kit with conversion to standard shock system. This company tells me that they are sedmomg 15 to 20 of these kits out a week. GMC does not offer any options. My concern is this has been a problem for multiple months without the dealerships ability to find the problem in a timely manner. The car was rendered unsafe to drive because it was hard to steer and difficult to keep in your own lane. Additionally, the gas gage has gone bade, approximately 50,000, the first Rainier I had there was a problem with getting the fuel into the tank. Traded the 2004 for 2005 because of this problem. Now this gas tank the gauge is defective.
Fuel tank is leaking at the filler inlet. This same problem was covered under a recall on chevy trailblazer ext's which share many of the same components. There is a smell of fuel in my garage and it is clearly visible on my garage floor. Why wouldn't gm cover all vehicles of the same build and not just the trailblazer? I am afraid my car will catch fire overnight or while my wife and toddler are inside it.

2004 Buick Rainier with 97,000 miles and no history of accident, damage or service issues passed state of arizona emissions test in December 2009, including evaporation testing. Within a couple of weeks a check engine light came on and was diagnosed by code as an evaporation issue. On the way to the dealer service center the vehicle would not accept gas, instead the gas puddled under the vehicle and caused the pump to automatically shut off. The dealer diagnosed that there was a crack in the gas tank in the area of the gas filler neck. The dealer also confirmed there was no damage to the area. Dealer indicates that the gas tank and filler neck need to be replaced. No action has been taken yet.
I was just informed of a recall on my above listed vehicle. Please note that my fuel gauge was not reading correctly as it was displaying empty while the tank was full. I brought the vehicle to my gm dealer immediately to diagnose and repair. It was determined that the fuel sender needed to be replaced. The total repair cost me $571. 77 which included parts and labor. Who do I need to send a claim to in order to be reimbursed as this repair is now considered a recall?.
Filled up at the gas station one day. Started my Rainier and the gas guage read empty and the low fuel light was on. Drove for a bit and the gas guage appeared to start working again. Over the next couple of weeks the guage would fluctuate randomly. Then one day, with my children in the car and my gas guage telling me I had plenty of fuel, I ran out of gas on a very busy street. I was fortunate enough to coast into a parking lot and avoid an accident. My dealer kept telling me I needed to put a fuel cleaner into my gas tank and that would fix the problem. This faulty fuel sensor has caused me to run out of gas a number of times (even when using the trip milage indicator to give myself some idea of my fuel levels). This creates a very dangerous situation. Please, please please issue a recall as soon as possible.
Fuel gauge reading incorrect. Dealer replaced sensor and had to drain/remove gas tank to replace. While this was still under warranty (55,000 miles, I would have had to pay approximately $550.
