I am in army & while driving to work one morning at 5:30 am my van slowly started accelerating the more I pressed the brake the faster the van went, by the time I reached the street the van was up to 50 mph I was afraid so I call my husband, told him the situation & the street I was traveling, he was on the way. By then I was up to 60-65 mph, I called 911 stated the situation, asking for help & to have someone on the phone just in case. I almost hit a bus, looking ahead a few blocks I saw back-to-back traffic starting to build-up, I did not want to hurt myself or anyone else, then going 65-70 mph I looked over and saw a park I turned the van into the park & to stop it I decided to crushed the van into a tree. I turned toward the tree and jumped out; the van crashed into the side of the tree & continued to keep going. I ran after it as I saw the van jump the curb and going 70mph towards the row of homes across the street crashed into a tree head on. The van engine after all that continued to roar as if trying to keep going. I flagged down a van and recalled the police to let them know where the van had stopped. When the fire department came & turned the van off they told me the van was on fire & they towed it away. This is a blessing know one was hurt, but something needs to be done about this, & for the auto company not to investigate is a tragedy. What are they saying numerous people will have to die, before they will admit there maybe a problem, just to save money? if that is the case shame on them. I am here by grace, but I can't help but to think of those this same situation may have happen to, but did not live to say why or how it happen. If this is what is happening god bless the roads we drive on that the next person my not think to do what I did & the live it will affect. Thank you, for letting me post my story.

I have a 2001 Buick Regal, purchased new in October 2001. In may 2005 the rear window on the passenger side fell. I took it for repair at a Buick dealer and it cost me $516 for parts and labor. A short time ago the front window on the passenger side fell, and today the front window on the driver's side fell. I am in the car alone 99. 99% of the time. The rear windows and passenger window are never down. Initially I thought that was why they failed, but now the drivers window fell. I see that Jeep vehicles have had the same problem. Being gm products, has this been discussed. I just paid this car off and feel it is probably the worst vehicle I have ever owned. I have replaced the catalytic converter and had issues with the transmission.

The contact stated after putting the vehicle in park, the vehicle jumped into reverse on its own slamming the contact between the driver's side door and a chain link fence. The contact suffered injuries to the left leg and calf and a broken right foot. The dealership has not been contacted yet. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. There was damage done to the vehicle and to the chain link fence. On one other occasion the vehicle jumped out of park and tried to go forward, but the contact was able to stop the vehicle in time.

(1) I have a 2003 Buick Regal with mileage of 17700. This morning at 9 am when I stopped before the traffic light in the intersection of mound rd and 13 mile rd. (2) suddenly the brake pedal appears to be very loose and the car starts going backward slowly. I keep on pressing the brake but the car keeps going backward. I switched to parking gear and then driving gear and press the gaspedal and the car starts moving forward. Both my wife and I were in the car. Fortunately no car was behind us so no accident occured. (3) the dealer checked the car and can not find what is the problem. So they asked us to continue driving until the problem happens again! how can we continue driving a car which almost led to a fatal accident? that is crazy!.
The vehicle in question is a 1999 Buick Regal lse with 63,000 miles. Regular maintenance has been performed in a timely manner. When backing out of a parking spot with the car in reverse and foot lightly on the brake, it felt as though I had bumped into another car or that my wheel had slipped into a pot hole. Upon examination, nothing was hit by the body of the car or the wheels. This happened one time and then one time a month later. Two days after that, the incident repeated itself, and the vehicle would not move in reverse when idling unless I pressed on the gas hard. After taking the vehicle to a Buick dealership for diagnosis, I had the transmission replaced.
Transmission on my 2001 Buick Regal had problem shifting,to find out transmission totally fell apart after 45000 miles, had to rebuild transmission at considerable cost conveniently 10000 miles or less out of warranty, finding out by this website that other Regals have had transmission defects and total failures.
The transmission in my 2001 Buick Regal GS, when first purchased, had a clunk in it at about 42-45 mph, after letting go of the accelerator, and coasting down a hill. I had told the dealership about it, but they couldn't duplicate the problem. Finally the 10th time, I had taken the service manager out to the location where it would clunk. They finally took the transmission apart and found there was a slightly stripped shaft and a couple other components bad in the transmission. The transmission has now developed another problem. In the mornings on my way out and the car sitting overnight, at about 20-35 mph, it will shift ruff, like it jerks you ahead, like I am driving a manual transmission, not using the clutch. Has anyone else experienced these kind of problems with their Regal GS?.
I bought a 1998 Buick Regal used form glenn buige in lansing mi. With-in four months of owning this car the transmission started going out. It was shifting hard between the 1 and the 2 gear then it started not to shift at all if the car wasn't warmed up for fifteen min. Took it back to the dealer and they claimed that since there were no lights coming on and it tested all right there was no problem but they could put in a rebuilt transmission for 2,000. Somehow this did not make sense. After reading up and studies that I have done this is a on going problem that gm transmissions have and the company refuses to stand behind their product as well as all of the complains about their transmission.

Purchased vehicle w/4000 miles, I was the first titled owner, 1st transmission went out with 30705 miles & was replaced under warranty. Second transmission went out with 53582 miles. I don't feel a car should need a new transmission at 30,000 miles let alone another one at 54,000. Something else must be wrong with the engine to need two transmissions in less than 3 years.
At 500 miles we encountered transmission problems. Fortunately there was a dealership in temecula CA. Carriage motors kept our car for two days and advised the transmission was repaired. We encounter the same problem at 1240 miles. The car was taken to hardin Buick. We were advised that they were sending the transmission to Buick and that a new transmission was being sent to them by Buick. This would take from a week to ten days. The car has been in for repair for more time than we have used it. We do not want a car with a transmission we can't rely on. Have you had any other complaints about Regal transmission problems?.
Automatic transmission has a lot of plastic parts inside, they melted down due to vehicle overheating. This transmission should be made like that of the old ones, with metal parts to make it last longer.

Tranmission was replaced while car under warranty w/remanufactured transmission which is now needing to be replaced. . . Dealership did not advise it was being replaced w/remanufac. Part. Contacted Buick only to be advised car was not under warranty and they could not help. Steering/rack & penion: steering locks, pops, etc when driving . . . I don't have much info on this right now as we are having checked by mechanic now. Have been advised that this appears to be the problem. We have had numerous other "non life threatening" problems w/this car and are very disheartened as the car is only 3 1/2 years old.

While vehicle was on a medium incline , ignition on and the shift indicator in the drive position, driver took foot off brake pedal and vehicle drifted backwards down incline until driver applied the brakes again. Also, when driver is going forward on anincline with transmission is in reverse, vehicle rolls forward. When taking vehicle to dealer, he stated that it was just a characteristic of vehicle.
Consumer states that the bolts were stripped from the manufacturer. This caused bolt to fly into a gasket and split. As a result, transmission fluid was sprayed all over transmission.
