1 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 09/11/2020

The 2012 Buick Regal consumes a quart or more of oil in less than 2 weeks or 300 miles. I am putting a quart in it just to get it to read on the dip stick and more if needed. As it consumes oil, the engine gains a noticable ticking noise with a rough start. All of this is noticed while driving on a highway or rural road. The back right tire and or tire area makes a thumping noise at all speeds. The tire is not the issue. The stabilitrak warning light comes on often . I am the 3rd owner to the car with with 164,333 current miles. The car has had routine oil changes etc by all owners.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 10/30/2019

Prior to this event the radio and interior and exterior light would flicker and the radio would turn off completely. The battery was the original battery so we replaced it. But it wasn't completely shot at that point. During the same time of this happening the battery in the key fob went bad also. So I thought that may have had something to do with it. Had to disconnect the battery completely to reset the computer because there was any power to the car at all. Waited a few minutes hooked it back up and it allowed us to jump the car off. . The radio and lights have on a few occasions did the same as before but never the issue of starting. So now it did the same thing as before so once it was jumped again I took it to my local autozone and had the battery and alternator checked and got an all good report. In addition this time the abs and the stailitrak and traction control light cane on and would go out until the computer was reset by disconnecting the battery. I've read a couple of forums and the seems to be more of the same issue with other owners. Some even stated their vehicle even shutoff in motion. As I sit filling this form out the radio and the light in the glove box continue to come on and off.

4 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 05/16/2019

Codes p0016 p0017 dtc p0299 under turbo boost p0010 - fluid leak from transmission - stabilitrak light on and off (2017, 2018, 2019)- { I paid to have the issue fixed and less than a year later it happens again} car will not pick up speed - crank / cam position not plausible - timing chain stretched /stuck. ( popping sound coming from under my seat in 2017)these are all issues that happen while driving. I am getting on the on ramp for the highway and my car will not go pass 35 mph for over 15 seconds, even if I floor it. There is on coming traffic doing 60 to 70 mph and that is a life or death situation. I have no way of moving to avoid being hit. My car will stall when I try to drive after stopping at a stop light.

Failure Date: 03/10/2019

In the last year I have had to replace brake pads, calipers and rotors 3 times in 1 year in my 2011 Buick Regal cxl 2. 4l. Now I'm getting ready to do it for a 4th time. I was sold car that had a hole in the middle of my exhaust that I didn't know was there until winter came and had to run the heat. The stabilitrak system came on out of the blue and shut my car off going down the highway. I have had nothing but problems with this car. I'm just fed up and over it. Its costing me way too much money for only only the car for a little over a year now.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2016 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 09/05/2018

I was driving down the highway in texas, and was in the process of changing lanes to the left and accelerating when all of a sudden my vehicle completely lost power and would not go into gear. My transmission light immediately came on. The psl was 70 and thankfully I was able to move back into the right lane and navigate to the shoulder without getting hit. I eventually coasted off the hwy and had aaa tow my car to the dealership where it was determined my transmission needing rebuilding. This occurred around 30k miles. Periodically after that my car would not accelerate like I had a misfire and I'd feel a shudder or sometimes it felt my tires were spinning faster than my transmission was going. I took my car in for an oil change (no lights were on). I explained this to the dealership and my car was throwing a code turns out the torque converter needing replacing. This was under 50k miles. I am currently at 52k miles and when I go up a high I feel the same thing and have told the dealership this. They won't give me a loaner car and I can't be without my car so I have not currently brought it back in. There are no lights on but it feels like the same issue is starting back when the torque converter went out. I have always had my car serviced at the dealership so I have all the records.

14 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 06/03/2018

I have had problems with the stabilitrak - check engine light / multifunction indicator light coming on at random times (the on star diagnostic report doesn't give any indication of whats going on with the car so that regular people can understand before going in talking to a dealer about the issue) - powertrain issues I have had to replace my battery when I bought the car I was told it was newer and shouldn't have issues. My driver side headlight is full of water. There have been so many issues with this car yet no recalls have been found on my particular car. I read reviews from others and the 2012 Buick Regal just seems to have a lot of problems consumers such as myself should be entitled to a huge portion of cash paid for the defective vehicle. I thought it would be a safe family car but it just didn't turn out that way. I was afraid to take my family in my car for 6 months because I didn't know if I would we would be stranded. When I took my car to a certified dealer to get it repaired it was worse my car shook while I drove. Buick just isn't the car for me or anyone until they are able to create a safe car. Aesthetically newer model Buicks are nice but mechanically they are a bust.

18 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 05/19/2017

Takata recall - my Regal is 2011. I have not had any problems prior to this. My service stabilitrak ligh began coming on along with abs light. I also explained the check engine light would come on after filling the tank and it reduced to 3/4 of tank. Last week all lights came in on car as I was parking. Took the car into to be serviced. The dealer completed a diagnosis advising I had a leak from my fuel pump. Needed new fuel pump, fuel injectors. For the abs problem needed new bearings and sensors. I drove away for second opinion. The next day while driving slowed for a traffic light and pressed gas to take off the car would not accelerate. The engine was running. I had to turn car on and back off to get to move to the center of the road during rush hour. I sat there for a min. Was able crack and get to a safe place off the major road. I got a second opinion having the car towed to firestone. They also saw a fuel pump code and mentioned the timing chain. I had car towed to the dealer. They replaced the fuel pump on my way home on the interstate. I slowed for the exit and hit the gas. The car stalled again. I was afraid at that point. The dealer cannot tell me what the exact issue is with the car. It is still there for diagnostic now. They had to escalate and still no answer. They are using trial and error to resolve the issue which is a dangerous and expensive joke.

19 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 04/04/2017

Takata recall. . . While driving in our city all instrument panel light went to flashing and the gauges were quivering, bells went off and my car died right there in the traffic while going 25 mph. I had my daughter and grandson in the var with me and by the grace of god we avoided an accident. Car wouldn't restart for about 10 minutes but eventually did with the same thing happening with the instrument panel. Daughter got the car off the road. Husband got the car home and left it. It wouldn't start back the next day but after continually trying it eventually started but had a horrible grinding noise and the instrument panel still going crazy. Husband called our local garage while I started a search on the web for possible explanations. I came across others with the same complaint as we were experiencing and found that their problem was the ignition switch. Our local garage suggested we look for ground wire problems. I watched a video of a car doing the same thing mine was doing, that person replaced the ignition switch and all was well. I read and watched a video of where one said to turn on the flashers or headlights before try to start the car, this allowed the car to start with no problems. Tried it and it worked. One other thing without the flashers or headlights on, the sifter is locked and will not come out of park. Called our local dealership about a recall and was laughed at and spoken to as if I was a child. She said if there was a problem with the ignition switch and 1 person had a complaint there would have been a recall. I told her there was plenty documentation on youtube to go watch it. I am reading many that are calling this as a "death trap" and that some have died because of this problem.

20 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 02/22/2017

When driving or coming to a stop or even making a turning the vehicles shakes and then shuts off, this first happen when I was driving the car on a very busy street, the first time this occurred it happened with no warning just a shake and then the car shut off, reducing speed rapidly , causing the traffic behind me to do the same, thank god that there wasn't an accident, but it sure could have been. And now I see on the forum that I am not the only one with this problem, Buick isn't doing anything about it, does this fall under the lemon law, help.

21 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 09/21/2016

"stabili trak needs to be serviced" light comes on and causes immediate loss of engine power. This has become very dangerous and is no longer a safety feature but a hazard when driving. This has happened several times and been taken to dealerships at least 5 times, with no fix. They cannot duplicate the problem but the car continues to have the issue. This is a huge safety hazard when traveling and I have been forced to pull over and shut off the car in high traffic areas due to continued brake pressure and loss of power. This problem occurs mostly on highway travel but has happened on city streets as well.

22 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 09/11/2016

While normally driving on an interstate highway and attempting to pass a semi truck, the vehicle suddenly went out of control. The vehicle went to maximun acceleration and the brakes and steering both failed to respond. The vehicle went into a spin and crashed into the semi truck's rear trailer wheels. The truck ran over the left front portion of the vehicle, blowing both outer tires on the truck and crushing the front, left portion vehicle in the process. There was no tickets issued by the police agency that investigated the accident. The insurance company involved settled all claims and totaled out the vehicle. I repurchased this vehicle from the insurance company because I was determined to figure out what happened. It took me 3 months to figure it out, however I have. The main cause of the accident was gm's failure to install an electrical ground strap from the engine to the chassis. Now there is no path for the electricity to get back either to the alternator or the battery. While there are some small ground returns in the engine wiring harness, nothing large enough for the required amperage to get back. When it can't find a path, it looks for another way through the body or the small returns in the cable. The wires in the cable got hot and melted the insulation off and shorted out the other wires. This dropped the voltage on the main buss which feeds the computer. The computer controls the power settings to the engine, the braking system, and the electronic power steering, all failed. Only good thing that they have a completely separate system for the air bag controls and seat belt retractors. They all worked perfectly, otherwise my wife would be dead.

25 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2014 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 04/21/2016

Takata recall: the stabillitrak light on continuously. Diagnostic by onstar, suggest I take car in to gm service center to check air bags visited gm service center on04/22/16. Findings: multi codes. Corrected. Note: the stabillitrak light came on after I started engine, and stayed on while I was driving for approximately 1/2 mile. (city street) shut off engine, and restarted lights went of. Problem not duplicated at service center.

26 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 02/29/2016

I have owned my Regal since 2011. As I accelerate the car would shudder and shake, then I would get a service stabilli trac message followed by a message stating that the engine power has been reduced. After I have the issue it will reset itself after restarting and then will run fine for a while. I called on star on several occasions and they told me that it has an engine misfire or the stability trac needs to be serviced or the electronic throttle body is malfunctioning. I have taken the car to the dealer and they tried to fix without any luck. I think part of the trouble with fixing it is the fact that the computer resets itself and therefore they can't find a code. The other issue with trying to fix is the fact that the car only has the issue when it is 35-40 degrees outside and below. Other issues I have had, driver's seat heater not working, outside trunk release not working, passenger side seat belt does not connect properly and of course the recalls for the driver's seat bolt and exterior turn signals. Now for the bad news for myself is that the car is out of warranty. Given the fact that I have read many similar complaints and most of them not being resolved, I find it very hard to bring myself to take it to the dealer and have them guess to what the fix may be at my expense.

27 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 01/08/2016

53000 miles. When car is in motion. Car goes to low power more and check stabili-track message comes on. Car shakes bad at idle, idles too high,(almost to a point where brakes won't hold at a stop). Shit down and restart car goes back to normal conditions for short puerile of time. Check engine light comes on and code for throttle body malfunction is detected. Called Buick service number and was told it would be under warranty. Made appointment with dealership checked code and determined same code issue and it was not covered under warranty. Did. Not have them fix it yet. Cost is excessive and was told under warranty by manufacturer. Waiting on customer service call back. Car is unsafe to drive. Have seen many similar complaints but have seen nothing done by Buick or ntsb.

34 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

Engine stalls after first startup, then after restart all warning lights blink for long period. Vehicle stalls when stopping for a traffic signal or slowing down to turn. Then, when ignition switch was turned to off position, could not remove key, and could not turn engine off. Mechanic replaced ignition electrical switch, replaced ignition tumbler assembly, made new keys. We spent $1,171. 01 for these repairs. Wrote a long letter to Buick customer assistance center on July 1, 2014, and explained all the details of this ignition-related problem. Found 21 similar complaints at safercar. Gov. GMC never issued a recall notice on these ignition-related problems, and said our vehicle did not have certain defective manufacturer parts installed as original equipment. Who the hell installed these defective ignition-related parts?.

35 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 03/20/2014

Driving down the road at 30 mph without notice the car turned off with no apparent reason. Causing the car to loose power steering, power brakes, and rapid loss of speed in a busy downtown setting. This has happened 4 other times since then. We have read other complaints on forums recently and everyone who has replaced their ignition switch has not had a problem since. We would like this investigated because Buicks are not on the list at this time for the national recall.
