36 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 02/03/2014

My 2004 Buick Regal LS, just recently started to shut off or won't turn on, but at the same time all the lights in the instrumental panel would be flashing on and off repeatedly nonstop. As I would turn on my Buick by turning the ignition switch, it wouldn't turn on but also all the lights would be flickering on and off rapidly. I would have to keep turning the ignition switch on and off for about 10-20 times until finally my Buick would turn on. Now when I would be driving it would shut of by me put my turn signal left or right or it would shut off by itself. Again as it would shut off all the lights in the instrumental panel would be flashing on and off repeatedly and I would loose acceleration and power steering. Sometimes I would be lucky enough to get it started right away, but if I was unlucky I would have to pull over and try to get it started again. It's now happening so much that I found out that I could sometimes turn on my emergency hazard and it would make the lights stop flickering and regain power to the acceleration and power steering. I can't believe that my year make and model isn't part of the gm's recall for the ignition shut off problems. What will it take? many deaths for them to do something about it?.

38 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 05/20/2013

I was driving the car at 40mph when all of a sudden it cut off and all the gauge lights came on. I was nearly side swiped by another car. I restarted the car but it would not start. I tried to start it up again. It started but would not shift out of park. The gauge lights on the dash board were still on. I restarted the car again and was able to drive it home; the signal lights and head lights did not work. When I was finally able to start it up and take it to a mechanic, I was told the problem was the ignition switch. I paid a total of $540 for them to repair this problem. GMC knew about the problem and did not report a recall to consumers nor offer to fix it. All I'm asking is for a refund of the money I paid; $540.

39 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

While travelling 55 miles per hour on the high way the car shut off causing me to force the wheel on the road. I reported this and was given rental cars for the noises and belts to be examined. The noise subsided a few weeks only to return when driving about 45 miles per hour and the car cut off again. This time in traffic March 2013. The thrid time was in April 2013 . The last time was June 16, 2013. It has been in the shop over 45 days. Nothing was told to me was wrong. Then why is it shutting off while im driving?.

40 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 12/12/2012

On December 12, 2012 , shortly after sunset, my wife and I were driving on a rural road at about 30 mph. I was in the front passenger seat. I reached over to switch the radio from sirius to fm, but inadvertently hit the engine on/off button, located about 2 cm from the radio button. When I hit the button, the engine went off, we lost all internal and external lights, and the car slowed dramatically. It was terrifying. We managed to pull the car to side of the road. Had we been on a major highway, a major collision and pile-up likely would have followed. When we reported the incident to the dealership, it initially claimed the car's internal controls would prevent the engine from turning off while the car was moving but subsequent dealer tests disclosed even a slight touch of the power button shut off all power. I reported it to Buick and Buick asked the dealer to reconfirm the tests, which it did. The dealership seemed very concerned about the safety problem but said Buick needed to resolve the issue. Buick said the car operated as designed and there was nothing more it could do. I am not satisfied with Buick's response; nor should this agency. At the time of purchase, I was given no warning about this potentially life threatening hazard. Although the drivers' manual contains many highlighted warnings, it only mentions the engine shut off in passing. Quoting 9-18 of the drivers' manual: "do not turn off the engine when the vehicle is moving. This will cause a loss power assist in the brake and steering systems and disable the airbag. " nothing else was said. The close proximity of the primary control for radio channel selection to the power button, and the potentially lethal consequences of inadvertently hitting the power button is an inherently dangerous design flaw. The lack of explicit warnings exacerbates this already serious problem.

41 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 09/24/2012

1st time vehicle wheels and steering completely locked up when making a right turn blocking traffic and had to be towed after police and no one could release it. After having towed the vehicle to my home. I was able to release the lock and tested it before I decided to drive it to a gas station for gas. As I pulled out of the gas station the vehicle locked up again blocking two lanes of traffic coming at me on a 4 lane county road. I sent a letter to gm reporting the problem and the repair that was done, but I am very concerned that there may be other vehicles on the road that could end up with many deaths. And I am not confident that my problem has been solved.

43 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2011 Buick Regal

Failure Date: 11/14/2011

Purchased car in summer of 2011. During the first cold weather car would give a warning to service stabilli trac and that the engine power had been reduced. I decided to pull over and restart the vehicle and it would reset the computer and the warning lights would turn off. I took this to the dealer and they could not replicate the issue. I started to let the car warm up in the winter and this seemed to help until recently. Within the last few weeks I have been having similar problems even after letting the car warm up. The car will automatically reduce engine power even while on the highway making it difficult to get out of the way of traffic. After these incidents the check engine light will come on but will go off after turning the car off and restarting. I have contacted onstar and they tell me the same thing that the warning lights do. I have also had issues with the car trying to accelerate on its own while at a stoplight. After going to the dealer and having them not able to diagnose the problem or try to repair it and not fix the issues, I feel at a loss of what to do at this point. I do not have the time or money to keep going to the dealer only to leave with the same problems. I would think that the manufacturer would be more inclined to fix these issue before people are injured or any fatalities occur due to their negligence. I feel that after reading about other people's similar issues that this is something that should call for a recall.
