I purchased a gm manufactured Buick Rendezvous in August of 2003. Beginning June of 2005 the "abs" and "brake" warning lights started to activate simultaneously on numerous occasions while driving the vehicle. When this occurs the owner's manual instructs you to stop the vehicle and try to reset the alarms, if they do not reset you are to have the vehicle towed to the dealer to be serviced. When I did this the vehicle would not restart, this happened on at least 6 occasions, 4 times after a period of time the vehicle would restart. The other two times I had to have the vehicle towed. I have had the vehicle in the shop four times for over 30 days since the first incident. The ignition switch has been replaced and the bcm has been replaced twice, this has not corrected the problem. On the fourth visit to the dealer they did nothing and said that they had exhausted all known fixes. In my opinion there are very serious consequences to not having the problem fixed. I use this vehicle to transport my family which includes 3 children. We currently live in ak where gas stations or services are over 100 miles apart. It is unacceptable to have a vehicle that the brakes may go out or that the engine may not start. I have filed a complaint with gm, bbb, and NHTSA, and I am requesting that gm purchase my vehicle or allow me to trade it in for the amount currently owed.

The brochure and owners manual for the 2002 Buick Rendezvous both state that the dic (drivers information center) includes a tire pressure monitor. The dealer I bought a 2002 Rendezvous also believed the car had a tire pressure monitor. However the 2002 Rendezvous apparently is not available with the tire pressure monitor. The sales literature and owners manual incorrectly say that it is available, and my experience is that sales personnel often also believe it's available. An unwary consumer could buy and drive a 2002 Rendezvous incorrectly believing the car will warn them of a dangerously low tire. I believe Buick should notify all owners of dic equipped 2002 Rendezvous and clarify that the car does not have a tire pressure monitor. This notification should also include a mechanism permenantly correct the owners manual. Reference: description of dic, page 40 of brochure for 2002 Buick Rendezvous. Also 2002 Rendezvous owners manual, page 2-107 describes non-existent tire pressure monitor mode in dic. It does not describe it as optional.
