4 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

The gas gauge on my 2006 Buick Rendezvous is very erratic. It shows 1/2 tank one minute, and can quickly drop to less than 1/4 of a tank. Basically, you can't trust it at all. I have read of similar problems with other gm suvs and ask that you add the Rendezvous to the list. Many people seem to have this problem.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

2003 Buick Rendezvous - the gas gage does not read correctly. Sometimes it will read full and then it will drop to empty. Then the gage will randomly read full again. The gage will not read anything other than full or empty. It does not matter how much gas is in the tank. We took it to a dealer and they said it would cost approximately $300 to fix it. I believe they said it was the sending unit (but I do not remember for sure). This is a safety concern because we could run out of gas while driving.

7 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

Erratic gas gauge !!! any where between 1/2 and empty the gas gauge will read something different. Last week during my lunch the gas light came on. But, when I left work it read I had a 1/4 of tank. I decided to get gas anyway. Luckily I did. . . It took 16 gallons of gas. So it was actually empty. I would have run out of gas on my way home. I have taken my SUV to the dealership 5 times now and they still have mot corrected the problem. I have read on line there are so many other people out there with the same problem. Please do a recall and fix our vehicles before someone runs out of gas and gets hits on the side of the road.

11 Tank Assembly problem of the 2007 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 04/05/2009

I read the article about gm's possible faulty fuel gauge issue in the 4/30/2011 newspaper. I have a 2007 Buick rendevous cxl purchased as a gm certified used car from a local gm dealer. The fuel gauge wanders by 1/4 of a tank. While under warranty, I have been to several dealers about this problem about 5-or 6 times total and they have installed a new sender/gauge, reprogrammed the computer, updated the software and it still acts the same way. It is very annoying and I must always keep it above half full so I don't run out of gas. I was finally told by a service manager that they have had several complaints about the wandering gauge but it can't be fixed and I must just live with it. I am now out of warranty for this problem and am "living with it" until I sell it and buy another car, probably next year. I feel the Buick rendevous should be added to the list of problem vehicles.

12 Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 10/10/2008

There is a recall - investigation # ea 07-006 that describes a gas leak near the inlet of the gas tank. I smell gas fumes in my garage every day after filling up the tank and there is residue under the tank inlet on the floor of the garage. I took the vehicle to the Buick dealer on 10/4/08 and they indicated there was no evidence of cracks and this vehicle was not part of the recall. I am still having the problem and the dealer has provided no remedy. There is gas residue along the side of the tank. What can I do? so far the dealer has done nothing but inspect.

13 Tank Assembly problem of the 2006 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 09/01/2008

Fuel gauge has been grossly inaccurate since about the fall of 2009. We are never sure if we are going to run out of gas and be stranded. My wife is an registered nurse who's worked nights and getting off at 2:00 a. M. And running out of gas on the freeway could potentially put her life in danger, not to mention having to look for gas in crime riddled neighborhoods. This has happened once already, where the gauge showed 1/4 tank but was in fact empty, and caused a stall. Fortunately this was during the daytime on a lightly traveled rural road although we are just waiting for it to happen in traffic on the freeway. Very dangerous. 2006 Buick Rendezvous cxl awd.

14 Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 08/14/2008

Smelled gas in garage and moved our Buick Rendezvous and found gas on the floor under the gas tank and saw gas dripping from the gas tank. I took the vehicle to my local repair shop. It was determined after inspection the gas tank has fracture and allowed gas leak. The repair shop located the recall from gm. Buick advised the repair shop and myself the tank was not part of the recall and would not be covered by Buick. I had the repair shop replaced the fuel tank at my cost. Failure to make the repair could have cause a fire. Even though the VIN number wasn't part of the recall it should have been covered by Buick because the defect was consistent with the defective fuel tanks of the recall.

17 Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 06/04/2008

On June 4th,2008 our 2003 Buick rendevous # began leaking fuel from the vicinity of the fuel filler neck. We were on vacation with our three grandchildren and took it to the nearest dealer. They said I had to have the whole fuel tank replaced. I had it replaced and learnt later that there was a recall for this problem. I had my dealer look at the car and they advised me to send in a customer reimbursement for the cost. Buick has advised me that my car was not covered , by serial number even though it was in the same place every other one was failing at. I had brought the car to specifically carry my grandchildren with the third seat. Their ages are 4,3 and 1 1/2. Lucky we did not have a fire. The thrust of my complaint is that regardless of the serial # issue, they have a bigger problem with a lot more fuel tanks then they are willing to admit to. In my 45 years of driving I have never had a fuel tank problem . And the dealers I have talked to agree with me. I think I should be reimbursed and you should look into this continuing fuel tank issue before some innocent children get burnt alive. Awaiting your reply. Jim ryan.

They detected a leak in fuel tank and had to replace the fuel tank. In December, I received a recall notice that described this problem as a manufacturer defect and that I may be eligible for reimbursement of the repairs. I sent the required documentation and have been getting the run around since. I have been told: 1. VIN # not in recall - yes it is. And it has been registered in arizona for 3 years. 2. Repairs not done by a gm certified dealer - nothing in the documentation I was sent stated only repairs done by a dealer certified repair shop would be honored 3. 32 Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Buick Rendezvous

Failure Date: 11/21/2006

On Tuesday Nov. 22, 2006 I noticed a strong smell of gas in my garage where my 2002 Buick Rendezvous was parked. I looked under the vehicle and noticed the gas tank was leaking where the filler pipe meets the tank. I immediately called Buick to see if I could bring the car in and was told yes. I was informed that because the tank is plastic it would have to be replaced at a cost of approximately $1100. Parts and labor. I also asked if this has happened to other Rendezvous and was told yes and was also told this happens to the chevy envoy. I then asked if Buick would pay for the repairs if this is an apparently defective tank and was told that a gm knows about it but has not issued a recall I must absorb the repair cost. I was lucky that my car was parked in doors and I smelled the gas leaking. What happens to the poor soul who parks out doors and does not know his tank is leaking. Does it take fire or death for the people at gm to realize their mistake and fix these tanks before someone is injured or killed. I would like to know how I can get the information as to how many of these tanks were defective and how many were covered by warranty and how many replaced att the owners expense. I had an extended 75,000 mile warranty that just expired last month or I would not have had to endure an $1112. 06 repair bill to ensure my family's safety. Thanking you in advance, a dissatisfied gm customer.
