1 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 05/21/2019

Hello, I have a 2005 Buick Terraza cx awd. My abs and traction control lights came on and when it did the vehicle started to apply the brakes itself pulling the vehicle to the left while driving. I couldn't control the vehicle. I started reading up on this, and it appears many other owners of this vehicle been having this same unsafe problem over the years and no recall is been done. This is a very serious issue!!! I'm surprise no one has been involved in an accident and been killed. I also notice this has been reported many times as well to the manufacture and they haven't done anything about it but come up with excuses to the owners like myself. Do someone has to be killed before a recall is done? I myself is going to take my video I had filming on my windshield when this incident ocurred and send it to all the major news media groups in this country and put it on social media as well. Thank you for reviewing my complaint, and hopefully the government make Buick the manufacture do a safety recall ASAP. I can't upload my video because it's over the maximum size allowed to upload on this website.

4 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 07/28/2016

The ignition switch was disengaged when the van hit a bump while in motion on a highway. I was able to put it in natural and restart it but it was a very frightening ordeal. This has also happened on streets traveling 30 mph.

5 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 10/20/2013

Buick Terraza just shuts down while driving (at various speeds) or stopped without warning. Everything shuts down with display stating, "starting disabled, reduced engine power. " I must try to get to the side quickly. After about 30 seconds, the van restarts and continues for a while until it does the exact same thing again.

6 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

Randomly, while driving the abs system activates the brakes, pulling the car to one-side. If my memory serves me correctly, it pulls to the right. After this happens, the car's "traction control active" message appears on the instrument panel. Parking the car, turning it off, and restarting the car causes the message to go away. This has happened about 4 times in the past 3 weeks at speeds varying from 5-35 miles per hour. I fear that it could be potentially dangerous if this were to happen at higher speeds. . The car has been checked, prior to this incident, by an ase certified shop and both front wheel hubs have been replaced within the past 18 months, which have integrated wheel speed sensors. I have read that most shops have been unable to pinpoint any reason for this problem, but I do plan to have my mechanic investigate and see if the computer is reporting any error codes.

8 Steering problem of the 2007 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 02/23/2013

As I took off from a stop light, the van jerked so hard , it felt as if it was hit from behind. The next light within 5 miles, the same thing from a stop. A few days later it was much worse and the service stability control system code came up. After having it checked( immedialely), there was no code found in the vans computer. It didn't show that it ever came up. This could be fatal, especially at high speeds. When the code comes up and a mechanic can't get a reading to address the problem. Doesn't that indicate a problem ?.

10 Steering problem of the 2006 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

On may 2, 2013, about 10am, I was on my way home. The steering wheel suddenly out of control and my car hit on a car park on the street side with none inside. My car had severe damage and cost about $10,000. 00 to fix. The other car I hit on had medium damage. The air bag pop out with a lot of dust and it was flat. A lot dust blow on my face. The air bag had no air at all. It was all flat. The steering wheel had been kind of tight and difficult to turn for three years. I thought it was normal for the big vehicle , so I had not brought attention to the dealer. I request the NHTSA to investigate 2006 Buick Terraza's steering system. I am sure that something is not quite right in the steering design and manufactory.

11 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 10/13/2005

I own a 2005 Buick Terraza. Bought the vehicle in July of 2005 at around 8000 miles noticed a vibration in the steering wheel ,took it to the dealer and they said the tires needed to be re-balanced. After I left dealership still noticed the vehicle shaking. Went back to the dealership front tires are now going bald and they state it was my fault for not rotating at 5,000 miles. So they do it for me rebalance tires and say it is okay. After 4 times of going back to dealership for the vibration they say there is nothing they can do about it. So I am supposed to live with this vibration when driving at speeds of 65-70. This is a big safety issue since this will just lead to more problems down the road. The dealer points the finger to Buick , Buick points the finger back to the dealership and nobody wants to tack responsibility for this.

12 Steering problem of the 2005 Buick Terraza

Failure Date: 10/08/2005

Steering locked up while driving 50 mph on a very busy four lane highway while I was in the fast lane, heading westbound. Van decelerated to about 30 mph instantly, began swerving from right to left without ability to control movement of vehicle. The traction control light came on and the service stability system light also came on. Could not turn off the traction control. Had no control over the steering, brakes or gas. A very loud grinding noise was coming from the front of the van, sounding and feeling like every wheel was being turned in a different direction. I was able to turn the van a very hard left to steer it into an open lot, although I did have to pull in front of oncoming cars, but I had no other option as there were cars on the side of me and quickly coming up behind me. Van was serviced at the dealer who said that the steering wheel sensor was faulty; case file started with Buick, but after servicing, they closed the case, saying the problem was resolved. I will never drive this vehicle again and I feel there is still a major safety issue here. Other sensors have been replaced, only to have those problems occur again. This van has been in for service repairs for 11 different things in the seven months that I have owned it, and it now only has 6036 miles on it. I feel that this van in particular is very unsafe and possibly other Terraza's also have these same safety problems. This is something that the manufacturer should own up to and do the right thing and replace the vehicle before the unthinkable occurs.
