2 Engine Stall problem of the 2013 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 05/20/2014

The engine stalled while driving on a city street at 35 mph. I was able to turn into a driveway and park. The engine started the first time I pushed the start button. Dealer could find nothing wrong but suggested it might be the type of fuel. I started using the type fuel they suggested and kept the gas tank half full. This has happened twice since may. Again on July 13th the engine stalled when I pulled up and stopped at a stop light. Took it to the dealer, they kept it three days and could find nothing wrong. The latest incident happened two weeks ago August 5th while driving down the street at 40 mph. Was able to pull over to the curb but this time the car wouldn't start the first time I pushed the button. I tried a second and third time and I then took time to get my phone to call for help and decided I would try one more time and this time it started. Dealer kept it 5 days and could find nothing wrong. They called the technicians at gm and they had no answer. The customer service contact person at gm told me they have never had any complaints with this problem for the Verano. They must not be looking at this website!! I am afraid to drive this car. I can only imagine what would happen if I were driving down the interstate in front of an 18 wheeler and this happened. I hope something will be done about this.

3 Engine Stall problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

While driving at 65 mph in the right lane of a 4-lane divided highway, my engine quit, and all gauges went dark. I had steering, brakes, turn signal and hazard lights, and telephone. I was losing speed, and was unable to accelerate. However, I was able to coast to the shoulder of the highway. I was not able to restart the car. I put on the hazard lights and used my cell phone to call the dealer. After 10 - 15 minutes of waiting, I was able to restart the car. A representative from the dealer had just arrived and followed me to the dealership. They kept the car overnight. They could not duplicate the episode, so they reset the computer. I am suspicious that the computer activated the engine immobilizer feature. The engine stall was preceded by several instances of the intellilink screen going dark, as though the light bulb had burned out.

4 Engine Stall problem of the 2012 Buick Verano

Failure Date: 03/31/2012

The engine of this new 2012 Buick Verano stalled four times. The first time was in freeway. The second time was in front of a red light. The third time was in a local street at ~35 miles/hour. The fourth time happened when the dealer service department was driving it. Similar problem every time: the engine suddenly stalled and became very rough. The car cannot go faster than 10 miles/hour for a minute or two and the engine would completely die. There's always a misfire code. The vehicle appeared ok after 5-10 minutes later but the "check engine" may stay on. The dealer service department suspected the fuel was bad. What's ironic is that the engine stalled again when they were driving it after they drained the fuel and put in new gasoline. This is a brand new car from Buick with ~600 miles on it. Something is seriously wrong with this vehicle and the sudden stalling of the engine carries too high risk of rear-end collision.
