Car has less than 40k miles. Noticed what seemed to be very small scratches on top surfaces of vehicle. Upon closer inspection, looks like the paint is fading down to bare metal. The fading paint is hard to notice and recognize, but after washing you can see the dull areas easily. Noticed problem on hood 2 years ago, paid $1900 to have it repainted before realizing this is a common issue. Gm body shop said the paint is "checking". Caused by improper oem application. Since car is 5 years old, not covered under warranty. $2900 to repair!!.

Vehicle's paint is damaged. Under normal sun exposure, this vehicle has extreme hairline scratches throughout. I have taken my car to the dealership and want to blame this on animals. I do not own animals that climb on my car. On hood, roof, and trunk. The rest of the car is perfectly fine, which is strange. I have encountered more than 10 cars with the same issue. There is no reason that a 4 year old car, within normal sun conditions, should have its paint deteriorate at this rate. It is embarrassing and the dealership refuses to repaint. I still have the note on the car.
