Air Bag Problems of Cadillac Catera

Passenger side "curtain" airbag in seat went off while my car was stopped and engine not running with no cause or impact while not close to anything in a parking lot.

I got in my car, 2000 Cadillac Catera which was stationary in a parking lot and closed the driver door at the same time reaching back to get seat belt and "bang" an exploding sound. The driver side seat air back exploded, in a parking spot. Causing, lesions, and contusions, on the left arm, and a sprain wrist. Also, scrape and bruising of side, rib area. Also, my boyfriend was in the passenger¿s seat and he suffered an asthma attack from the dust.

My car was parked in my garage (backed in). I entered the vehicle and then placed the key in the ignition and started it. My left hand was on the top of the steering wheel, my right on the gear selector, and my left foot on the brake. As I pulled the gear selector from 'park', the steering wheel and drivers side curtain airbags deployed (very loud explosion!). The car was stationary and did not move - I returned the gear selector to park, turned off the car and exited it through the drivers door. I was not injured, except for the ringing in my ears that dissipated over the next few days.

Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Cadillac Catera. The contact stated that while traveling 15 mph, the passenger side curtain airbag erroneously deployed. The contact was able to merge the vehicle into a nearby parking lot. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's home. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. The manufacturer was contacted about the issue. The failure mileage was 47,200 and the current mileage was 47,300. Kmj.

While starting passenger's air bag deployed. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic refused to inspect the vehicle.

No deployment of air bag during collision.

This is a new car. The battery has been replaced twice. The airbag module has been replaced. There have been several electical problems. I have had it in for repairs over and over. I have ask Cadillac to replace this car,but they have refused. Please help me.
