On may 18th, 2018 I purchased a 2004 Cadillac Cts from top notch auto. The gas gauge, brakes, a/c, blinkers dash buttons all were not working. He said to bring it the next day and they would fix it all. I ran out of gas getting there the next day due to not having a working gas gauge. I spent the entire day there and they did nothing to fix the car. The next day the computer (ecm) went out on the car and the engine light came on saying the catalytic converter was bad. I took the car back and asked for my money back and they said no but would fix it and they had the car for over two weeks. They said everything was fixed but I noticed the car went from 176000 miles to 101000 miles (odometer rolled back). I asked about this and he said it was legal and necessary to fix the car. The day after getting it back the service engine light came on again and the car would not go over 20mph on the road. The codes read po121, po23 and this time it was the throttle body and wiring that were bad. The dealer would not pay for it. I paid $498 out of pocket and another 3 days without the car. I told him the brakes were still bad and the car barely stops and pulls hard to the right. On Friday June 22nd they told me to come in to get the cars VIN checked out for my registration and so they can look at the brakes. They said they brakes are fine (they are not) and he took my keys and would not return them until I signed documentation saying I would not complain or take him to court. It is now July 9th, 2018 and they will not give me my plates or registration and say I am stuck paying for this death trap of a car.
Key got stuck in ignition in the start position. Car won't start neither turn off completely won't turn off leaving lights on the dash board on thus causing the battery to run dead. My traction automatically engage with a warn signal service traction control and brake system.
When turning at a low rate of speed the breaking system completely fails. This nearly caused my entire family to end up in the middle of a very busy highway. Thankfully we were traveling slow and the emergency break worked. We immediately got home and checked fluid as was well. Reading through online complaints there are many people complaining of the exact same thing. I am truly worried this could get someone killed. At the time the breaks failed they stuttered a bit and the break light on the dash came on as well as a tone or alert in the car. Please take this seriously before someone gets killed. This just started happening suddenly out of the blue. My daughter had told me her breaks did something strange when backing out of the driveway one morning. Then the next day she said it did it again going forward she almost hit the car in front of her. I had her take me for a drive so I could see for myself and I was terrified when it happened.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Cts. While driving 5 mph and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop. In addition, while the vehicle was in reverse, the failure recurred numerous times. The dealer replaced the brakes, but the failure recurred. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v225000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Cts. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was applied. The contact mentioned that the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
The transmission cooler lines blew out of the radiator. The transmission fluid was blowing out all over the egine compartment front tires, front brakes, and onto the road. I saw on some forums, where they stated that this was a common problem for the caddilac Cts. And I wasn't sure if anyone else had filed a complaint. It definitely was not a safe situation to be in. To be honest, I have owned/driven a number of cars, starting from a 1950 chevy. I can't believe that the cooler lines blowing out of the readiator is now a problem. None of my previous vehicles had this problem and they were definitely not in any kind of pristine condition.
As I make sharp turns while on my brakes, my car makes a noise near the tire area and does not stop and then abs indicator and the traction control indicator lights come on. It usually occurs when I am trying to turn into spaces going 1-2 mph. The only way to stop the car is to get off of the brakes and then press them again several times or to hit an object. I have taken the car to the Cadillac dealership in my area and they cannot determine the problem. I have also taken the car to several mechanics that specialize in brakes and have been told that the brakes themselves are fine. Since this problem has started, I have hit a trash can and several curbs. I have tried to get the vehicle fixed, but no mechanic, including Cadillac gm mechanics seem to know whats wrong. Fortunately, I have not hit any person or any person's property due to this faulty braking system. I have researched and found that other Cadillac owners are having similar problems, but cannot find a fix.
When pulling into a parking spot(almost stopped) there is a grinding sound, a vibrating brake peddle and the car doesn't want to stop. This appears to be an intermittent problem that is only happening on right turns and very slow speeds. There are several discussions on line about this type of problem and Cadillac dealers being unable or unwilling to diagnose the true problem. . Read more...
I was travelling at night on I-95 in florida at 70mph w/cruise control engaged. Vehicle suddenly fell out of 6th gear and engine over-revved to red-line causing engine to shut off completely (as it is designed to do) - resulting in sudden loss of vehicle speed, total loss of power steering and power brakes. I managed to guide vehicle safely to shoulder of road (only because traffic was light). I collected my thoughts and got vehicle re-started as normal. I continued on my trip but without using cruise control. Vehicle fell out of 6th gear several more times (and a countless number of times since the original incident), but I was able to prevent engine over-rev & shut-down by not using the cruise control feature. There is a transmission issue with this vehicle (see numerous internet complaints) and, given circumstances described above, I feel there should have been a safety recall on this vehicle a long time ago. Vehicle is equipped with a tremec t-56 manual transmission. Since first incident, I have taken vehicle to Cadillac dealerships. Some repairs were made, but none have solved the problem. Have also taken vehicle to authorized tremec service dealer - more repairs made. Problem still persists. Have scheduled another service repair visit to tremec dealer. Vehicle currently has 99,000 miles on it. Since vehicle is out of warranty, I have spent approximately $3,500 on this problem to date with no resolution to the problem.
The contact owns a 2004 Cadillac Cts. The contact stated that the vehicle would exhibit an air sound when the brakes were applied. In addition, there was an abnormal increase in stopping time and distance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 80,976.
If you turn to the right at a slow speed to stop or park the brekes gives out. The wipers start and stop at times in the off positon.
I own a 2004 Cadillac Cts with no previous problems except for responding to several recalls. Several days ago, I was moving forward into a parking space at about 3 miles/hour. I pressed the brake pedal and suddenly the pedal went almost to the floor and I barely stopped inches from the car in front. I was not stepping on the accelerator at the same time. Immediately after the incident the brake pedal felt normal but two loud bursts of air, 2-3 seconds each, occurred. The Cadillac dealer finds nothing in computer checks, road tests, and visual inspections and does not know how to fix the problem. The edmunds. Com townhall web site contains several reports of exactly the same problem with the Cadillac Cts.
My Cadillac '04 Cts has a brake issue. When turning sharp at low speeds the brakes "disengage" and I lose complete control of the car. It is intermittent and I can't duplicate it at will. It just happens. I have filed a case with gm customer service and am taking to the dealer tomorrow.
