My 2000 Cadillac Deville will occasionally accelerate of its own accord. It can happen when on cruise control or when not. The only way to get it to stop accelerating is to put it in neutral and tap the accelerator with your foot. It is quite disturbing and takes some seconds to realize what to do. Fortunately has not happened in close quarters yet, but the stories about the old man who mistakenly put his foot on teh accelerator rather than the brake are bogus. His car did it. This happened also in oct. 2006. The dealer crest Cadillac claimed to never heard of such a thing. They cleaned teh throttle body and only happened a couple times after that and was not a problem until this week. It again happened on the expressway and I was up to 85 mph before I regained control.
