I was traveling on stevenson expressway at 55 mph when the fuel pump relay overheated and melted, which burned up the rec (rear electrical electrical center /fusebox). When the fuse pump relay overheated it shut fuel down going to the fuel pump, which caused the engine to stall. When the engine stalled the car cut off, causing me to loose power steering. Because I was traveling in the middle lane of a three lane expressway at a high rate of speed, the vehicle started deaccelerating and I couldn’t control the vehicle with no power steering, I couldn’t get over to the shoulder. This nearly caused a wreck putting me in harm, because vehicles around me were accelerating at 55 to 70mph. All I could do is put my flashers on. Coast to a stop, and hope no one rear ended me, which nearly occurred. I called onstar because my car would not start and they sent someone from gm. The guy looked at my car, could not identify the problem, so I got it towed to a repair shop. Ends up, I had to replace the transmission. The repair shop ran electric test on the vehicle and no codes or issues. My dash is now reading service power steering and this is a safety issue that needs to be fixed by the manufacturer.

Power steer system is defective. I actually looked up several recalls on alldata. Com and they're are numerous of recall. These recalls are specifically referring to the power steering system. The recalls are actually safety recalls. I can't seem to get the recalls serviced by any local dealers. This is a safety hazard to the general public.

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Cadillac Dts. While driving approximately 45 mph, the power steering malfunctioned and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was driven to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering fluid level was low. Power steering fluid was added to the vehicle, but the failure continued. The manufacturer and the local dealer (r. J. Burne Cadillac, 1205 wyoming Ave, scranton, PA) were notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 82,000.
My car won't start if the tilt wheel is not in a certain position. The engine will not start until you put it down in a certain position---which I guess at. After I start it I can adjust the tilt wheel and I have no problem. After stopping and parking the car, I have to get it in the right position to have it start. (yesterday after 3 adjustments, it would not start. ) after resting for a few hours, it started.

Power steering fluid is squirting all over my engine compartment. There is a recall for the make model and year of my vehicle, but Cadillac keeps telling me that it's not a problem for my VIN. When I drive the car, power steering fluid contacts the hot engine parts and begins smoking. They've had a recall for this. I don't want my car to catch fire so I stopped driving it. I shouldn't have to pay for something that they already know is a problem, hence their own recall. They tell me I'll have to pay for the repair and if it's part of the recall, I might get reimbursed.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Dts. While driving 40 mph, the steering wheel required more force to maneuver and smoke appeared from the hood. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the road side and observed that the power steering hose was leaking severely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 06v105000(steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 141,179.
I have noticed that when it rains and the streets are wet my steering wheel locks up.
Gm recall 14299 should correct the problem of ignition shutting off while driving. The key moves out of the 'run' position disabling the brakes and steering,. The fix was putting a piece of plastic in my key. This does not fix the problem. I expect the ignition switch to be replaced. I did not pay $50,000 for a cheap 'fix'.
The power steering quit working while I was driving. . . Then a few seconds later, the car shut off while I was still driving. I was only going about 35 mph and I was able to turn onto a side street, though it was very difficult to turn the car because the power steering had quit working. I was later informed by a mechanic at aaa that a bracket that connects the engine to the car's frame had come loose and the engine was vibrating, which caused the electrical wiring for the power steering to become worn, which caused it to short out. I was lucky I was only going 35 mph. If I had been on the highway on a curve when this happened, it is very possible that I would have crashed.

Gm recall 14299/NHTSA recall14v355 the gm fix for this faulty ignition switch is to install a smaller (13mm) key ring and small inserts on the ignition keys to prevent installing any other things on the key ring. This is not a fix for a faulty ignition switch, but a means to circumvent the problem! I find it extremely difficult to believe that your organization would rubber stamp this shoddy circumvention of the real problem! how many vehicle accidents are you and gm willing to allow before fixing the problem properly? rest assured, my attorney has a copy of this complaint and will take the appropriate action should my vehicle malfunction!.

Since this first indecent I find ever time it rains if I go thru a puddle of water and turn left or right that the power steering will go out for several seconds before you can recover. Today we have heavy rain and at one turn it nearly resulted with me hitting a semi truck that was in a merge lane and as I made my turn onto the highway steering again out, I could not complete the turn which pointed me at the far lane and the oncoming mammoth truck as I jerked the wheel the steering regained and I jolted back into my lane. When will Cadillac be requested to address this problem or are the large number of people with this problem going to have to have face the fear of a serious accident before we resolve this issue. Case after case the dealers do not know what the cause is as stated in complaints.
Power steering hose leaking causing the wheel to lock up. Have called gm about this and they said it wasn't a recall. . . Took it to easton Cadillac services and the gave me the sheet that showed it was between the VIN# that was affected in the power steering hose recall. 6u146663-6u550288. . . My VIN#6u187900. . . It has the same problems that was indicated on the recall and gm is unwilling to right their wrong.

The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Dts. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel seized without noticed. The contact had to restart the vehicle in order for it to resume normal function. Also, the contact stated that the key failed to release from the ignition. The contact had to make several attempts and wait over thirty minutes for the key to release. In addition, the key would become hot. The dealer conducted repairs that were unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 154,000.
Engine stopped. All power equipment ceased to function. I was able to get to the side of the freeway. Put the car in neutral, turned the key and the car started and continued for the duration of the 200 mile trip. The second time approximately three weeks ago my wife was driving in heavy city traffic when the same problem occurred and she lost the use of all power equipment. She was able to put the car in park and get it started again without incident. I called gm complaint department. They instructed me to take the car to a dealership and have a diagnostic test done on it. This was done and nothing was found to be wrong with the vehicle. I again called Cadillac complaint department and opened a case. This time I was told to take the car back to the dealership and ask the service department to recheck it. I informed them I have the diagnostic report showing nothing wrong was found. They suggested I take it back and have the service people drive the car. This didn't make any sense because I don't know when and where the problem will occur again. What was I to do for a car while the dealership had mine? I inquired of the Cadillac representative if this car may have the same ignition as the cars currently being recalled by gm. They were unable to answer that question. They finally stated the only remedy was to take it back to the dealership. If this problem occurs again someone could easily get injured or killed. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me on how to resolve this matter.

Power steering is not in effect while turning steering wheel. Have to use extra effort while turning, especially in tight spacing or low speeds.
Power steering hoses leaks, and oil pan gasket leaks I have oil in the street and in my drive way/garage because the power steering hoses are leaking they will only repair some VIN # cars for the power steering. Oil pan gasket on the oil pan is leaking I have found out there is no recall but gm have being having problem with these 4. 6l norstar engine oil pans gaskets for a long time this is a major problem because they have issue-- bulletin no. : 03-06-01-027a that state you must remove the engine to do the repair this is very costly this is also a environmental issue this should be a recall issue.
When it rains and we hit a puddle of water the power steering stops working and the car is very difficult to steer. It frightful in high traffic areas as there is minimum control. After a few minutes the power steering is restored. This have happened several times.
