This complaint applies to the 2017-2019 Cadillac Escalade. The headlights on these vehicles are blindingly bright -- enough to be a safety hazard. They are way too bright if they shine directly in your eyes or side mirror while driving a car. They are an unusual design, with vertically stacked points of tiny individual lights, which I believe causes this problem. I recently read that pedestrian fatalities have significantly increased lately, particularly at night. I believe this is due to the increasingly bright SUV headlights, particularly on luxury SUV's. The Escalade is the worst, due to the unusual light design; but others are almost as bad. If they shine in your eyes -- for example, driving uphill as one of these is coming down the hill in the other lane -- it is literally impossible to see any pedestrian to the sides, particularly if the person is wearing black. This happens frequently at one busy intersection in my town. If you want to reduce pedestrian deaths, there needs to be greater regulation of the brightness of vehicle headlights, particularly on trucks. Thank you for the consideration of these comments. The headlights are far too bright. They are blinding and cause too much glare. The headlights cause me to have to lower my mirrors. The taillights are also way too bright. When I am stuck behind this car, I am blinded and I am so angry. All headlights must be a soft color that is easy on the eyes of the drivers in front and behind.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Cadillac Escalade. While driving 30 mph, both headlights blew out without warning. The vehicle was taken to bill gatton Chevrolet (1000 w state st, bristol, TN 37620) where it was diagnosed that water was entering behind the lens of the headlights, which caused the bulbs to blow out. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 63,500.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that nothing could be done. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.
Why are the headlights on new Cadillacs, especially Escalades, so blinding? it's like these vehicles have their headlamps permanently on bright.

2008 Cadillac esclade. Consumer writes in regards to leaking head lights. The consumer stated water entered the headlights on both sides.
Im writing because there is a serious issue with the headlights and all other lightings on the truck just going out which is a safety issues which can cause an accident and unwanted tickets. Please handle this ASAP.
I had a headlight that was out and not working due to condensation and moisture build up. I was going to get it fixed and was scheduled for a few days out to get it repaired. While I was trying (at night) the other one went out!! it was totally dark. I keep having to have it repaired bc the moisture keeps building up over and over. It poses a safety risk and is unreasonable to keep repairing at $1000 per encasing and $120 per bulb. Its been repaired twice in 3 years!.
This complaint is a general complaint about the new type of headlights that shine a piercing blue color. When vehicles with this new type of headlight approach it interferes with night driving vision. I can tolerate one or two of these type headlights coming at me at night, but if someday there are dozens of them in oncoming traffic it will not be safe to drive. Vision will be impaired. Such headlights need to be toned down. They are much much too bright. Thank you,.

The hid headlights have been blinking together on and off for no reason. Started, stopped, moving, sitting in the driveway after shut off waiting for delay lighting to turn off. The loss is momentary. It is more critical on unlit highways and side streets. They blink on and off together. The dealer was unable to repair in a 4 month window. On dry roads, from a stop, starting out at 5-20 mph active traction control turns on and the vehicle stalls. As most stops occur directly prior to intersection this is a very dangerous position to place the driver with a gas peddle that is basically inoperative because the car is in active traction mode and taking over the drive train. Dealer was unable to repair over a 4 month period. It might have been related to speed sensors in front wheels but they didn't want to replace them. They made me drive for 2 weeks with a code recorder in order to get them to do any service.

Headlight installed height on taller vehicles such as category 1 and 2 trucks (commonly called SUV, crossover, van, pickup truck, etc. ) is of such a design that it commonly (perhaps unavoidably) ends up blinding drivers in passenger cars at lower heights by directing the 'hot spot' of headlight low beams directly into the eyes of passenger car drivers. In addition, bumper height on these same vehicles is not designed to meet bumpers on other vehicles, resulting in higher than necessary injury and fatality rates. Please have someone contact me to discuss ways to develop safer vehicle designs and regulations.

Extremely bright headlights on many newer vehicles cause a hazardous condition for oncoming vehicles. These lights are so bright that they temporarily blind the person on the oncoming lane. This is especially true in rainy conditions.
Blue tinted driving/headlights on newer cars and replacement on older cars.
Lighting we own two Escalades from 2008 and have the same exact problem in both cars. Condensation in the headlights and burn them out we were quoted $1,000 for each headlight to fix min!!! heated seats are out in both trucks rims are pitted and pealing. Have had a problem with the rims weeks after rolling out of the showroom so disappointed.
The new model year 03 and 04 Cadillac Escalade suvs have too highly mounted and poorly designed and or mis adjusted headlights causing blinding glare to on coming drivers or drivers in front of these vehicles. The excessively glaring light caused eye pain to other drivers and temporary blindness. This is a serious safety problem that needs to be addressed.
Headlights on suvs are too high and low beams are effectively high beams for drivers of regular cars. This means that at night, the SUV lights shine directly into the eyes of drivers in front via the rear view and side mirrors. This will lead to accidents, distracting drivers' attention from traffic in front and severely reducing visibility.
