On March 21, 2026 while traveling at approximately 70 mph on a public highway, the vehicle experienced a sudden and total loss of propulsion. The vehicle stalled in active traffic, creating an immediate and life-threatening hazard. Following the stall, the vehicle’s system failed, and the vehicle would not engage any gear, including “park” or “neutral. ” consequently, the vehicle could not be towed by standard means and required a specialized car carrier to be transported to heritage Cadillac in morrow, GA 30260.

After having the initial engine failure recall completed by the dealership by switching to a different viscosity oil… while traveling at 45 mph the motor made a knocking or ticking sound with a squeal and then “hiccuped “ and immediately lost all power. I was only able to steer the vehicle onto a busy sidestreet. The vehicle had recently been serviced by Cadillac. Once stopped, the vehicle cannot be shifted from park due to “shifting conditions not met” so I was blocking the entire intersection. Police had to respond for traffic control. Due to the electronic shifter the only way to shift the vehicle into neutral is with tools and getting underneath the vehicle to remove a bolt. There is no reasonable or prudent way to do this in the middle of an intersection.

Vehicle: 2023 Cadillac Escalade (VIN: [xxx] ) dealer: Cadillac pasadena case number (gm corporate): xxx refusal to perform a mandatory federal safety recall remedy. Details: 1. My vehicle is currently under safety recall xxx(l87 engine loss of propulsion). I experienced a loss of propulsion and brought the vehicle to Cadillac pasadena. 2 the dealership technician confirmed the engine is exhibiting "abnormal noise (lifter clatter on both banks) and active misfires. " 3 the dealership claims they cannot complete the mandatory picoscope diagnostic test for the recall because the engine condition (misfires/noise) interferes with the equipment. 4 under gm special coverage xxx, if the engine cannot be safely tested due to internal mechanical failure within the recall population, gm is mandated to cover the diagnostic teardown and full engine assembly replacement at no cost to the consumer. 5 the dealership is refusing to authorize the teardown under the gm special coverage code and is instead pressuring me to pay myself. 6 the dealership has stopped responding to my written inquiries (sent March 18th and 19th) and refuses to provide a loaner vehicle, despite the vehicle being officially "unsafe to drive" due to the open safety recall. I am asking you to requre immediate authorization of engine teardown and full engine assembly replacement under gm special coverage xxxat $0 cost to me, and provision of a loaner vehicle as required for safety recall grounding. My vehicles passenger seat is laid back and the button to bring seat back up is not functioning. The passenger side window will not roll up or down, the sensor on the side view mirror is not working. On February 21, 2026, my 2022 Cadillac Escalade esv experienced a sudden and complete engine seizure at highway speed at 57,825 miles just 8,613 miles after passing gm's picoscope inspection under safety recall n252494000 (NHTSA campaign 25v274). After fueling, I entered a highway on-ramp and accelerated to approximately 70 mph. Within 30 seconds, the engine lost power completely with no prior warning lights, no diagnostic trouble codes, and no audible warning. The only dashboard notification was a prompt to press the start button. The vehicle behaved as if shifted into neutral, decelerating rapidly from 70 mph to 40 mph while I was navigating an exit merge ramp. I reached the right shoulder safely. Under normal weekday traffic, this failure on an active merge ramp could have caused a serious collision. The engine would not restart. The vehicle would not shift out of park. Onstar could not remotely start the vehicle. A tow truck was dispatched; the operator could not shift the vehicle to neutral and required a dolly. The dealership confirmed the engine had seized and the engine would not crank. A complete engine replacement was performed under the recall warranty (ro 606490). The recall remedy was performed August 20, 2025 at 49,212 miles. Gm records confirm the picoscope result: "engine passed. " the engine seized 8,613 miles later with no warning. This is consistent with 30-plus NHTSA complaints reporting loss of propulsion after the prior remedy, and demonstrates the inspection-based remedy is insufficient to identify engines at imminent risk of seizure.

Traveling on interstate preparing to exit on ramp. Press start button displayed, car immediately sounded like it geared down hard and then lost power, unable to control well, all I could do to come to a safe stop, while praying that the car behind me didn’t hit me. The car basically locked up while preparing to exit the interstate. So scary, terrifying and dangerous.

While driving my 2023 Cadillac Escalade (approx. 42,308 miles), the vehicle experienced a sudden and complete loss of power while accelerating on a busy highway. Engine power shut down without warning. I was able to pull to the shoulder, but the vehicle then became non-responsive and would not restart. The failure appears related to the electrical/charging system (12v battery, battery management system, alternator, or related modules). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This failure placed my family and others at serious risk. The loss of propulsion occurred in traffic, creating a collision hazard. After stopping, the vehicle had no heat and limited power while unable to start leaving us stranded on the shoulder of a heavily traveled highway in 10-degree weather. My two toddlers were in the vehicle, creating additional risk from traffic exposure and cold. This was a repeat incident. Approximately two weeks earlier, the vehicle experienced a similar power loss. A Cadillac dealership replaced the 12v battery and stated the issue was resolved. However, on January 22, 2026, I contacted the dealership and provided a video showing abnormal starting behavior, indicating the problem may not have been fixed. I followed up by phone the next day but received no response. Despite this prior repair and warning, the same failure occurred again. There were no clear warning lights or messages immediately prior to the power loss. After the failure, the vehicle was unable to restart. I also attempted to use onstar, a paid emergency service, but was placed on hold for approximately 30 minutes. Due to unsafe conditions, my wife had to come pick us up to remove our children from danger. This incident involves a repeat loss of power while driving, prior warning signs, and failure of emergency support systems, raising serious safety concerns.

My 2023 Cadillac Escalade esv has been at the dealership countless times over the last 2 years with strange engine sounds, acceleration issues, 4 wheel drive would top working and I couldn't make turns without a grinding sound coming from under the hood, check engine light (with no issues seen/heard). The engine recall was "passed" in October even after our concern with the engine sounds and strange things occurring while driving. Last week my wife was driving on a 4 lane 70mph freeway with our son in the car at night and the car said "press start again" and then started slowing down. She could not brake or accelerate. Luckily there was nobody to the right and was able to make just across the line to the side of the road when my car just came to a stop and everything turned off. So she sat there with my son in the dark for an hour barely off the side of the the road before a tow truck driver came but he couldn't even get the car into neutral to get it up onto the truck. My Escalade is now at Cadillac of south charlotte in north carolina waiting for a new engine. We are scared to drive it even after the "fix" hearing that it can happen again with my kids in the car. Gm needs to be forced to buy back or lemon these cars before someone gets seriously injured or worse.

At approximately 6:45pm on Friday November 14, 2025, while driving among tractor trailers in the passing lane at highway speed on westbound rt 30 near mile marker 191 (lancaster, PA), my 2022 Cadillac Escalade esv sport platinum experienced a complete loss of propulsion. This catastrophic and sudden engine shutdown came with no warning lights, no symptoms prior to a complete loss of power. The vehicle had previously been inspected as part of the recall service by fred beans Cadillac in doylestown months prior and customer was informed it had passed the recall inspection and was given the recommended corrective action - (new oil [0w40], oil filler cap and new oil filter). Customer had absolutely no reason to suspect this engine had issues, because it "passed" gm's recall. . . This vehicle's unexpected & compete loss of power gravely endangered the lives of the vehicle's four occupants who were absolutely terrified during this experience ! I put the vehicle's hazard lights on and guided it to a stop on the right shoulder of rt 30 at the mile marker 191 westbound. I contacted my insurance provider's roadside assistance for a flatbed tow off the highway. Vehicle was eventually flatbed to kelly Cadillac for engine diagnosis. [will give much more details in subsequent communications as the characters here are limited] we are awaiting Cadillac dealer's diagnosis of the cause of this catastrophic engine failure with complete loss of propulsion at highway speed (after the recall was performed and vehicle was cleared). I have added photos of the confirmation from the insurance company's dispatch of a flatbed to my location on rt 30 as well as a screenshot of us on the right shoulder of rt 30. I have attached text messages received from gm of the engine issue that were received after the vehicle was stopped on the shoulder of highway. My family - and others on the highway that evening - could have been gravely injured or even killed by this Cadillac's complete malfunction !.

After waiting months to get my vehicle checked for recall n252494000 NHTSA 25v274 I was told my vehicle passed inspection. When I asked to see the detailed results of the pico test I was told there are no detailed results and I was not shown anything proving my vehicle was tested and whether it passed or failed. My invoice states "performed pico test test took multiple tries to complete having to unhook and reinstall pico to complete" which does not make me confident in the result. While talking to the service manager, he mentioned their original pico equipment was replaced by GMC after approximately 5 vehicles failed inspection. Since GMC sent the new equipment there have been no failed inspections. I can't find a way to express my concern to GMC or Cadillac online, that is what brought me here. This recall includes a safety risk serious enough to replace the vehicles engine, I want reassurance that the test was performed properly and my vehicle did not fail.

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report an ongoing safety issue regarding my 2022 Cadillac Escalade related to an engine recall. On September 19, 2025, I took my vehicle to the dealership for inspection, but they chose to pass the recall inspection despite the fact that the engine continues to experience serious issues. The problems include: •engine propulsion failure and loss of acceleration at highway speeds, creating a hazardous situation. •rumbling noise from the engine when releasing the accelerator pedal. •erratic rpm fluctuations, with the engine surging significantly up and down. •frequent engine misfires, which increase the risk of stalling. •on several occasions, the accelerator dropped speed on the freeway unexpectedly, endangering me, my passengers, and others on the road. These symptoms are ongoing and pose a serious safety hazard. I believe the inspection should not have been passed, as the engine clearly remains defective. I strongly urge that the engine be replaced to address these issues. Please advise on the next steps, as I am concerned for my safety and the safety of my passengers. On Sunday, September 14, 2025, while driving northbound on the palisades parkway at approximately 11:30 pm, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion without any prior warning. I was traveling around 45– 50 mph when the dashboard lights began flashing, and the vehicle shut down completely in active highway traffic. All systems—including power and acceleration—dropped instantly. I was unable to maintain speed and was not even able to brake, and had to fight to steer the vehicle safely onto the shoulder as it slowed down. There were no warning lamps, messages, or irregular behavior prior to the failure. The shutdown occurred instantly and without cause, creating an extremely dangerous situation on a dark highway late at night.

I purchased a 2022 Cadillac Escalade esv platinum on 9/5/25. I asked the dealership if there were any recalls and they told me if there were any they were taken care of. It has not been taken care of, it is against CA and federal law to sell a car with an active recall that hasn’t been repaired. I would like to file a formal complaint against Mercedes Benz of walnut creek CA. I do not have time to deal with this recall and I want them to take this vehicle back immediately. I do not want to risk the lives of my family or others on the road with an e87 engine propulsion failure on our crowded highways here in the bay area.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, while driving with my family, the vehicle suddenly stalled while in motion. There were no warning lights or error messages before the failure occurred. While traveling at normal road speed, the vehicle instantly lost propulsion, steering assist, and braking power, leaving me without control in live traffic. For several seconds I was unable to steer or slow down normally — it was an extremely dangerous situation. The vehicle briefly restarted twice, then completely died and could not restart again. I had to pull over to the shoulder and call for assistance. This repeated sudden loss of power while driving, without any prior warning lamps or messages, creates a severe risk of collision or injury to occupants and others on the road. The vehicle’s unpredictable failure to maintain propulsion or braking control is unsafe and unacceptable.

On Wednesday, September 3, 2025, while driving in regular city traffic, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion without any warning or dashboard alerts. There were no warning lights, messages, or abnormal sounds before the failure occurred. The vehicle instantly shut down while in motion, causing a total loss of acceleration power and leaving me stranded in the middle of traffic. This occurred the second time I was driving the car after prior service, and the vehicle again stopped completely, forcing me to pull over and contact onstar roadside assistance. This was the second major propulsion failure in a short period, each time occurring unexpectedly while driving. The repeated sudden shutdowns without warning present a serious safety risk and indicate an unresolved defect in the vehicle’s electrical and propulsion systems.

My engine all of a sudden went dead in the middle of an intersection. I was unable to put the vehicle in neutral and move it so it was stuck in the middle of an intersection until the tow truck arrived. In addition, it had to be dragged due to this issue - which I’m sure isn’t good for it.

I was driving south on I-25 when lights started flashing snd then I lost power and had to coast to the shoulder with no means to expedite my exit from the interstate. At the coasting point white heavy smoke came from tail pipe. . I know there is a recall for 21-24 models. For the very problem I had. The recall now has no fix. This needs fixed.

While driving about 60–65 mph westbound on NY route 17 near exit 125, a warning message appeared on the dashboard reading “restart engine. ” within seconds the vehicle lost all propulsion, steering assist, and braking power. I struggled to steer into the shoulder with great effort because the steering and brakes had become extremely heavy. Once stopped, the engine would not restart — there was no crank and no response when pressing the start button. The vehicle was later towed to the dealership for inspection. Unity Chevrolet Cadillac confirmed that the engine had seized and replaced the entire engine assembly, starter, and battery under warranty. The vehicle remained out of service from August 7 to August 22 2025. This sudden failure created a severe safety hazard — a complete loss of propulsion, steering assist, and braking at highway speed could easily have resulted in a high-speed collision.

Fuel leak on top of fuel tank and it’s available for inspection. The safety of passengers and others were put at high risk since fuel is highly flammable . The problem is present at all times when the vehicle is started . The leak is highly visible by any bystander. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or police or others . My vehicle has a recall and I took it to the dealer on the 28th of June and this is the date that I still do not have my vehicle. I have a report at Cadillac to replace the engine. The dealer sends all the information to gm Cadillac to authorize the engine replacement since it has metal inside due to the recall and the vehicle is off, it does not start, nobody tells me anything. I am renting another vehicle paying for two vehicles. My situation is very difficult. Cadillac only talks and talks and nothing from Cadillac. It has been 72 days waiting, losing money. Cadillac has not offered me anything, for move nothing.

All Cadillac dealerships are refusing to inspect the vehicle to ensure engine is safe despite specific instruction in recall that dealership will and determine if vehicle is affected. If not affected they will change oil viscosity. Dealerships are refusing to perform this test and change oil.

Experienced engine failure as outline in recall for 6. 2liter l87 engines. Engine failure occured on 5/28/2025. Confirmed engine failure by Cadillac dealer on 5/29/2025. Vehicle is still in repair shop with no eta on replacement motor. Cadillac has failed to provide a comparable loaner vehicle. This is creating financial impact as I use my vehicle for work.

I am the owner of a 2023 Cadillac Escalade esv equipped with the 6. 2l v8 (rpo l87) engine, which is now subject to NHTSA recall number 25v274 and gm manufacturer recall n252494000 due to a known defect in the connecting rod and/or crankshaft components. We were driving on the freeway when all of a sudden the vehicle went into neutral, shut off and started slowing down. We were in the middle lane and our 3 children and grandparents were also in the car. This was incredibly dangerous and thankfully slowly we got to the right shoulder and the vehicle no longer turned on. We had to contact aaa and we took it to the dealership where we dropped it off. A few weeks ago I had called the dealership to ask about the repairs for the engine recall and they said they didn’t have anything solutions for that recall. Now dealer is stating it is still under warranty yet they haven’t been able to provide a vehicle large enough to accommodate our family. Nonetheless, they are stating that it might be over two weeks before they can get a new engine and then install it.

Vehicle is burning oil with low engine oil light flashing months before the oil change is required. Vehicle does not always have full power and may slingshot forward at time of acceleration as opposed to a smooth acceleration.

I brought my Cadillac Escalade in on two different instances where it stopped on me. One time it completely died, the other time it stopped and turn off, then needed to be restarted, with multiple instances. Both times the dealership told me it was related to the fuel pump, and they replaced it. Since then, I brought it in again saying it had random shakes and noises, and they claimed it does that when its in all wheel drive. This doesn't make sense. I have been using it in 2wd as recommended, and it still has the shakes and noises. In the past few weeks, the car stopped on my twice. One time I was making a left turn at a stop sign, the other, I was in the middle of an intersection. Now, I will not drive it out of fear for my family and own lives. I called to make an appointment at autonation Cadillac west palm beach, and they said there is nothing that can be done since the engine needs to be replaced, and Cadillac still hasn't issued a remedy. They said for me to call Cadillac directly, which I did. Cadillac opened a case for me, and told me I would receive a call in 1-2 days. I called back on day 3, and was told that I have to wait for the person who was assigned to my case to call me. They informed me that it may take a while because Cadillac had cut the help center's (including recall department) work hours to save money, while they should have been increasing it during this massive recall. Now I have no car to drive my family in, and no response from Cadillac, with no resolution in site.

I was driving my vehicle on the highway at approx 55 mph. Without warning my vehicle’s engine failed and the vehicle went into neutral. I had to coast until the emergency shoulder was available as power steering was dwindling. As I pulled into the shoulder the wheel locked.
