36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 08/20/2020

Our 2016 Escalade with 20,000 miles had the tail pipe corrode and fall of the vehicle. The rear bumper was subject to excessive exhaust heat which subsequently melted the bumper and back-up sensors. If the issue wasn't noticed, a major thermal event could have occurred and the truck could have been a total loss. Cadillac has refused to warranty this issue. We also have a 2019 Escalade that is showing significant signs of corrosion at the same weld. I believe this is 100% a design issue. The service dealer, autonation in palm beach, FL told me that they wouldn't warranty because I asked them to install the Cadillac optional upgrade exhaust, not would they cover any of the melted components due to the inferior tail pipe design. I have photos of the 2016 exhaust upon failure and the 2019 with the start of corrosion that I can email directly.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/21/2018

When passing a vehicle, I pressed the throttle pedal completely to the floor. After passing the vehicle, I removed my foot from the pedal and the pedal remained stuck fully down with the engine at full throttle. I kicked at the pedal several times and the pedal popped up. This has happened several times and I try now to not press the pedal completely down, but I always wonder if and when it will stick again.

42 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 09/06/2017

I purchased my car used from a dealership in 2009 and I now have the following problems with it. A check engine light that will not go out, the error states the fuel cap is not tight and no matter how much I tightened it never goes away. When fueling the car fuel will overflow if not paying attention. Also the the shift lever position is no longer illuminated so I am not sure which position the car is in most of the time I have to listen and gauge it before trying to put it in gear. I never received an communications that the car was under recall but from what I am seeing from the NHTSA website these are the problems that I am now having.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/18/2017

I was driving the car down the highway and the low oil pressure warning light came on and went off. I drove it for 5 more minutes and the light came on again and the car completely shut off on me as I was driving. The car has 109,000 miles and was maintained regularly. I took it to my mechanic and he told me either the engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt costing me anywhere between $5000 and $7000. Needless to say I am very disappointed by this and was terrified that the car completely shut off on me on the highway.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 04/23/2017

The abs activates while driving less than 10mph and the vehicle will not stop. While driving 3 mph in wet or dry conditions, the abs activated when the brakes were depressed. This has caused a very dangerous situation with the vehicle failing to stop and rolling through stop signs and red lights. The only way to avoid this, is to begin stopping well in advance of desired stopping point and hoping it stops. The service stability light light comes on after driving vehicle for 10 seconds. It is preceding by a grrrrr noise which lasts around 5 seconds and happens 3 or 4 times before the light comes on. Also getting braking chatter, brake pedal coming up and being hard to depress. Is this vehicle included in the recall for the service brakes, hydraulic: antilock (NHTSA campaign id number 05v379000)? all brake pads, brake lines, and abs module and sensors have been replaced. Problem continues.

Failure Date: 03/08/2017

67 days & 1230 miles after purchasing, just after starting and merging into heavy, fast moving city traffic, the check engine light & several others come on. Then on star text and email diagnostic alert received: "service the engine and transmission in your vehicle immediately". The engine was acting sluggish, rough, jolting, no acceleration, max speed barely 30pmh, a/c stops working. On star diagnostic report (monthly email report) at 1200 miles was perfect, 40 minutes prior. Dealer service diagnosed cylinder #2 misfires, component testing on the threshold of being shorted. Replaced #2 fuel injector. Diagnostic codes avail. If needed. Vehicle is brand new! concerned about serious future engine problems with no warning and/or possibility vehicle is a lemon.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 09/23/2016

The contact owns a 2009 Cadillac Escalade. While driving various speeds with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel system control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, but was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v154000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 89,000.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/08/2016

Stuck throttle at 4000+ rpms: while passing a car on a straight two lane highway, the engine stayed at 4000 rpms or greater after the throttle pedal was released. No carpet or floor mat was impeding the throttle pedal. The pedal was pressed hard and release several times to try to disengage the throttle but rpms stay above 4000 rpms. The transmission was placed into the manual position but rpms continued to stay above 4000 for approximately 3. 5 miles and 2. 5 minutes with the vehicle uncontrollably going in excess of 90 mph. The brake pedal was applied throughout the stuck throttle event but the brakes became overheated and ineffective. Eventually the vehicle gear shift selector was moved into the neutral position and the vehicle coasted to a stop with the rpms still at 4000+ prms. While stopped the ignition was turned off and only then did the rpms go from 4000+ to zero. The Cadillac dealer stated they removed the throttle body and replaced the throttle body sensor to repair the stuck throttle issue.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 12/01/2015

At cruising speeds the vehicle will display service stabilitrack, turn off the traction control, and reducing engine power. Not allowing you to go faster the 15 mph. This happens on any road way.

52 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 05/13/2015

Acceleration for no reason. I was backing out of a parking spot and I put the car in reverse. I was nearing the edge of the curb on my right front wheel so I stepped on the brake, stopped the car, and shifted into drive so I could move the vehicle forward to avoid hitting the curb while backing out . Once I shifted into drive, the car went to full acceleration for no reason and hit a pole at full acceleration approximately 5 feet away.

53 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

After driving the car on highway with no issues car will stall out approaching lights, stop signs or slowing down or letting off gas pedal. Has happened 8-9 times in last week. No warning lights or idling issues that would warn us of the issue. Changed battery, crankshaft sensor ,cleaned throttle body, fuel filter ,and changed oil. No codes show up on mechanics diagnostic meter. I have taken to online Cadillac forums and learned this is not an uncommon problem. Very unsettling with wife and 4 children in vehicle.

54 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 01/09/2015

I was driving approximately 60 mph, when my dash warning sign began to read "low oil pressure- shut off engine" and began beeping incessantly. As I was on a bridge/expressway, I was not in a position where I could safely stop the engine. The engine went into "limp mode" and was struggling to maintain power.

55 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 10/01/2014

While driving the vehicle it stalled and would not go. I had to turn it off and start it again I was about to pull out in major traffic and this could have been bad. Then again it happened while driving I was able to turn off and start again. It also had electrical issues that gave error codes. I brought it in the Cadillac dealership with 30000 miles on it but was told it was not covered under warranty or under a recall. While looking up the issues online there is a recall for this exact same problem but did not include my VIN # I think the recall needs to be expanded before someone is killed in an accident.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/07/2014

Broken exhaust manifold bolts, causing epa problem and engine problems and check engine lights.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 04/02/2014

Started to accelerate and there was a loss of power for approximately 2 seconds and then the engine shut down. Car would not restart. I could not pull over to the curb and had to have someone help me get the car out of the middle of the roadway. Car started after sitting for 15 minutes. The car's engine fault light had been on. Took the car to the dealer for repair. They reported that the problem was a engine control module wiring harness that had been frayed by the drive shaft resulting in a number of engine faults.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

In starting to accelerate, the traction control light comes on and the car looses power significantly.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 03/03/2014

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Cadillac escalde. The contact noticed that the speedometer, fuel and oil gages displayed inaccurate reading and they failed intermently. The vehicle was taken to dealer mechanic and diagnosed the failure instrumental panel cluster. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure and advised the manufacturer was not financially responsible for the repair because the vehicle exceeded 80,000 miles. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Lb.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

When accelerating into traffic, the engine looses power and the "traction control message" comes on. The car comes to a stop. When you lift your foot off the accelerator the message goes out and when you press the accelerator, the engine engages. It happens 2 to 3 times a week and is very dangerous when it happens when pulling into traffic. The car behind almost rams me and I am in a dangerous position with merging traffic. I have taken it to a gm dealer several times but they have been unable to find a code for this or to solve the problem. It is a dangerous situation as you never know when it is going to occur.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 07/08/2013

The steering was very hard to turn. Then the power steering fluid was leaking. Brakes are locking up. But right before all that happened the airbag light went off. Its never been hit or hit anything. The truck was purchased in Nov. 2012. We got a carfax with the vehicle, it was clean, I looked for recalls and 4 appeared, I also called Cadillac, spoke to a dealer and the woman said my VIN number has never been recalled, I stated it was in 2004 it was recalled and all the things it was recalled for was what was happening now. . At times it was making a noise shifting from park to drive.

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 04/02/2013

I discovered broken/missing exhaust manifold bolts at 107k miles although I suspect they have been missing for quite some time. I was made aware of the problem by other Cadillac, chevy, and GMC owners with the 6. 0l engine. Upon hearing about this issue I inspected my vehicle to find that I have missing/broken exhaust manifold bolts too. This is a major safety concern as well as emissions. Many owners of these vehicles with this engine have had multiple missing or broken manifold bolts, many at milages of less than 50k. Exhaust temperatures at the exhaust manifold average 1200 degrees fahrenheit. Gasoline has an ignition temperature of about 500 degrees fahrenheit. When exhaust manifold bolts break or become missing the seal is compromised between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust port on the engine cylinder head allowing these extremely hot exhaust gases to come into contact with multiple components in the engine compartment rather than through the exhaust system and safely out the tailpipe, which is routed safely away from flammable components or components that could compromise vehicle handling or braking if exposed to these temperatures from normal operation. Heat shields as part of the exhaust system are installed to safely shield any of these components from the exhaust system temperatures as long as the exhaust system is in good working condition. In addition there are other fluids such as transmission fluid, power steering fluid, engine oil, that will also burn if exposed to these normal exhaust manifold temperatures. All of these fluids, including fuel lines, flow through lines in and around these manifolds routed throughout the engine compartment. Should the entire exhaust manifold become loose because of the insufficient mounting hardware the risk of fire become exponentially higher. There are other concerns such as carbon monoxide and excess polluti.

63 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Cadillac Escalade

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

Chrome lining of wheels has been peeling for years. When first appeared factory rep from Cadillac/gm inspected car and stated only cosmetic (car was still under warranty). My concern was that it would eventually go into the interface of the tire and wheel. I have complained to gm several occasions. It has. Has been brought back to dealer numerous times where it has been acknowledged to be a problem and that they had a fix. This fix was performed numerous times at dealer and other tire dealers, mr tire and goodyear. All of the tire dealers have knowledge of the issue right away. The issue in also noted many times on the internet. We can check pressure and load tires to specs go on a ride on highway and feel some loss of steering after a hundred miles. Then need to add pressure. This is a chronic issue with acute instances that has potential of creating an automobile accident especially at highway speeds. Dealer wants $1000. 00 per wheel to replace plus labor. Gm not interested in any financial help or acknowledgement, case # 71-1423629281 (January 13, 2015). They stated that they "have to follow company guidelines", that the "issue is tricky because I have called numerous times in the past but there is no recall", "the year of my vehicle precludes any fix", "our guidelines only cover up to 8 years" . . . . . . Please help. This is a known issue with a fix that does not last (and I have to pay for), and has the potential to cause loss of steering and an eventual accident.
