I am reporting persistent safety issues with my 2022 Cadillac Escalade esv, with ~87k miles. Despite a completed recall for an engine seizure, the vehicle continues to fail dangerously, eroding confidence in its safety and reliability. Early in ownership, the computer and dashboard were replaced due to malfunction. Later, the engine seized while driving at 70 mph on a highway, a recall-related issue requiring a three-month repair. The vehicle has spent significant time in the shop, impacting usability. On may 20, 2025, my wife experienced a sudden shutdown at a busy intersection while merging onto a high-speed road. The vehicle lost power without warning, stranding her in a hazardous position. She exited to direct traffic, risking a collision. After ~5 minutes, she restarted it, and the system prompted her to reset the front windows’ limits, suggesting a computer issue. This post-recall failure indicates unresolved defects. These incidents—computer replacement, engine seizure, and shutdown—show a pattern of unreliability. With 87,000 miles, lemon law eligibility may be limited, but gm should have offered a buyback earlier given the history. These failures pose serious safety risks. I urge NHTSA to investigate potential defects in the 2022 Escalade esv’s engine and electronics. I also seek guidance on whether gm should repurchase this vehicle to ensure safety. Please confirm receipt and advise on next steps. I can provide service records.

I am the owner of a 2023 Cadillac Escalade esv equipped with the 6. 2l v8 (rpo l87) engine, which is now subject to NHTSA recall number 25v274 and gm manufacturer recall n252494000 due to a known defect in the connecting rod and/or crankshaft components. This defect can lead to catastrophic engine failure, sudden loss of propulsion, and significantly increases the risk of a crash. Despite my VIN being actively flagged under this recall and the serious safety implications involved, the authorized gm dealership has repeatedly refused to perform the required inspection outlined as the first phase of the official recall remedy. Their justification is that the “remedy is not yet available. ” however, gm’s official NHTSA filing explicitly states that the recall remedy includes initial inspection, and that vehicles passing inspection will receive a higher viscosity oil change, new oil cap, oil filter replacement, and owner’s manual insert. I have expressed my safety concerns directly to dealership management, stating that sudden engine failure poses a severe risk to myself and my two young children, especially during highway operation. Despite these concerns, I was denied service, told inspections cannot begin, and informed that no timeline for inspection is available. I am requesting NHTSA intervention to ensure gm and its authorized dealerships comply with the recall remedy procedures immediately, including the inspection phase outlined in gm’s public filings. This refusal to inspect my vehicle under an active recall, while knowingly acknowledging the risk of propulsion loss, presents an unacceptable safety hazard to my family and other drivers. Please escalate this issue and require gm to take immediate corrective action.

We were driving on the freeway when all of a sudden the vehicle went into neutral, shut off and started slowing down. We were in the middle lane and our 3 children and grandparents were also in the car. This was incredibly dangerous and thankfully slowly we got to the right shoulder and the vehicle no longer turned on. We had to contact aaa and we took it to the dealership where we dropped it off. A few weeks ago I had called the dealership to ask about the repairs for the engine recall and they said they didn’t have anything solutions for that recall. Now dealer is stating it is still under warranty yet they haven’t been able to provide a vehicle large enough to accommodate our family. Nonetheless, they are stating that it might be over two weeks before they can get a new engine and then install it.
Vehicle is burning oil with low engine oil light flashing months before the oil change is required. Vehicle does not always have full power and may slingshot forward at time of acceleration as opposed to a smooth acceleration.
I brought my Cadillac Escalade in on two different instances where it stopped on me. One time it completely died, the other time it stopped and turn off, then needed to be restarted, with multiple instances. Both times the dealership told me it was related to the fuel pump, and they replaced it. Since then, I brought it in again saying it had random shakes and noises, and they claimed it does that when its in all wheel drive. This doesn't make sense. I have been using it in 2wd as recommended, and it still has the shakes and noises. In the past few weeks, the car stopped on my twice. One time I was making a left turn at a stop sign, the other, I was in the middle of an intersection. Now, I will not drive it out of fear for my family and own lives. I called to make an appointment at autonation Cadillac west palm beach, and they said there is nothing that can be done since the engine needs to be replaced, and Cadillac still hasn't issued a remedy. They said for me to call Cadillac directly, which I did. Cadillac opened a case for me, and told me I would receive a call in 1-2 days. I called back on day 3, and was told that I have to wait for the person who was assigned to my case to call me. They informed me that it may take a while because Cadillac had cut the help center's (including recall department) work hours to save money, while they should have been increasing it during this massive recall. Now I have no car to drive my family in, and no response from Cadillac, with no resolution in site.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway at approx 55 mph. Without warning my vehicle’s engine failed and the vehicle went into neutral. I had to coast until the emergency shoulder was available as power steering was dwindling. As I pulled into the shoulder the wheel locked. The vehicle’s engine could not be restarted and the vehicle was towed to the Cadillac dealership. I feared for my life as cars were behind me at 55 mph or higher when my engine went out. I nearly didn’t make it into the shoulder before the vehicle stopped completely.
I was on the highway while cruising with a speed of 65 to 70 mph all of a sudden vehicle started to shake and lost control speed went down to 20mph on the highway check engine light came up foward collision, stability, traction control and engine died started again stall, had to tow the SUV to the dealership.
**exhaust emissions system issues** I have visited the dealership four times for the same problem that was fixed. Unfortunately, the system broke again within three days of each visit. This repeated issue has resulted in a significant amount of wasted time and effort.

My 2019 Cadillac Escalade esv experienced a major engine failure that required a complete engine replacement. Before the failure, the vehicle showed warning signs including rough running and loss of performance. My certified mechanic later explained that the cause of the failure was consistent with engine defects that have led to gm’s recall on later-model Escalades. However, the 2019 model year is excluded from that recall. The failure was severe enough that it posed a safety risk had it occurred at highway speed, and it required over $20,000 to replace the engine plus thousands more in related repairs. Multiple other major components failed around the same time (suspension components, thermostat, and a/c compressor). I am filing this report because the failure pattern appears identical to what gm has acknowledged on recalled Escalade engines, and I am concerned that the defect may affect more vehicles than currently included in the recall. My mechanic confirmed that the failure is reproducible and consistent with the known defect on later models.

1st incident - car stalled at a red light and had to be towed for repair. It was determined to be the fuel injector pump. No lights came on and there was no indication of an issue prior to it stalling. 2nd incident - on the intestate it started making a rattling noise and felt like it was losing power. No lights came on to indicate any issue. Luckily we were able to exit the interstate but it stalled on the middle of the exit ramp. We were 5 hours away from home and it was towed to the nearest Cadillac dealership. They had the car for approximately 2 months and replaced the engine. 3rd incident - the car was back 2 weeks from the engine replacement. For 1 of these weeks it sat in the airport garage. When it was turned back on after sitting for a week the check engine light came on. I was able to make it home from the airport but it stalled out in our driveway and had to be towed again. It was determined it was the fuel injector pump and it was replaced again. The pump was only about a year old.

I was driving to work at 45 miles/hour and the car's engine cut out. My life was at risk because the car cut out without warning while I was driving. When the car stopped working, I called the dealership, and they came to take the car away. The car didn't give any warning or display any warning messages beforehand. The car has been at the dealership for a month and they still haven't repaired it.
I am currently experiencing a concerning issue with my hybrid car, which has been stalling unexpectedly and shutting itself off while driving. This alarming behavior poses a significant safety risk, as it could potentially lead to a crash in critical situations, especially if it occurs during high-speed travel or in heavy traffic. Despite regular maintenance and inspections, the problem persists, and I am worried about the reliability of the vehicle. The intermittent nature of the stalling makes it particularly difficult to diagnose, and I am seeking expert assistance to resolve the underlying issue. It is crucial for me to ensure that my car operates safely and consistently to prevent any dangerous situations on the road. I would greatly appreciate any insights or recommendations on troubleshooting this matter or guidance on steps I should take to address this urgent concern. Thank you for your help.

Incident #1 - exiting a parking garage and the vehicle shut off. My wife was able to pull into a parking spot. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the resolution was a faulty fuel pump module. Incident #2 - my wife was at highway speed 65mph during rush hour 4 lanes of traffic when without warning the truck engine shut off and the vehicle shifted to neutral. I dont know how but she was able to wrestle the vehicle to the side of the highway where we spent 6 hours on the shoulder which was as wide as the vehicle. This could have ended in a fatality either while getting the vehicle to the side of the road or while waiting for the dealer to have our vehicle towed. --- end result was that the engine locked up. We have been waiting 1 month already for a new engine and per the dealer it may be several months more.
I was driving my vehicle, and it began to sputter, and steering wheel lock up almost causing an accident, plus I started the vehicle at home and within a few minutes I became unconscious from carbon monoxide fumes and had to be rushed to the hospital and treated for carbon monoxide poisoning, also my family was in harm in which I was instructed to open all the windows and doors at home because the carbon monoxide detectors was going off at home.

On multiple occasions I have felt rattling/shaking/rumbling within the vehicle engine area. It began within the first 3 months of having the vehicle in my possession (we purchased the vehicle in January 2024). I also had an occasion sometime around March or April of 2024 where I was accelerating after a red light and the vehicle was lagging. I pressed on the gas harder but it wouldn't get up to speed like it normally does--rpms were going up, up, up, but the speed of the car did not match. There was another red light right so I braked to stop and upon that light turning green everything was back to normal. I reported this to my service provider when I went in for my first oil change, the dealer was unable to duplicate the issues and I was told the car was inspected and appeared to be ok. I have since experienced the same rattling/shaking/rumbling on several occasions.
There was a recall on the l87 propulsion. The dealer changed the oil and said it was fixed. I left the dealer and the issue still persists. They refuse to address it.
I drive it from gilbert az to san diego California the car lost power all of sudden almost killed with my family I left at dealer in California and went back to gilbert arizona no diagnosis yet by dealer but I suspect gas pump failure reported on internet that Cadillac recalled some 2021 Escalade for gas pump failure but there is no recall on my car it is now at simpson GMC Cadillac dealer buena park California.
Searching of google results indicates this is a known problem with these vehicles. I am unable to put fuel/gas in the tank because the vapor safety system fails! having to replace the entire vapor purge and canister assembly is very costly when this known safety hazard should have been taken care of by the manufacturer.

Incident: I was driving on the highway when I heard a strange "whistling noise. " thinking the noise originated from an old van in front of me, I passed it. The noise grew louder; the vehicle slowed very suddenly and, I pulled to the side of the road. The "low oil pressure" light came on just as the engine entirely blew. There were no other warning lamps, messages or other symptoms. On-star did not send roadside assistance for six hours and the battery died from extended use of the emergency lights. Dangers: experiencing catastrophic engine failure while driving on a highway presents obvious dangers as does sitting roadside for six hours (with a dead battery and no emergency flashers). Inspection: the g. M. Dealer (manufacturer representative) inspected the engine and confirmed that it was a catastrophic engine failure, requiring a new engine. The issue was also reported directly to g. M. The engine core, if need of further inspection, is likely either at the dealer, g. M. , or a gm remanufacturing facility.
Brake/abs system locked up on me and I couldn’t stop. I accidentally hit someone from behind and was proven to be an accident. My traction light my abs light and my brake light all came on at the same time right before I wrecked. The SUV swerves over to the other lane randomly while on the interstate and does stop on time. Every time I fuel up gas leaks out from somewhere and its pumps gas really slow and takes so long.

My 2016 Escalade premium engine is starting to shut off more frequent when coming to a stop. It also has more frequent issues where it will not start with remote or if inside the vehicle. No warning or failure lights came on. Dash looks normal but no rpm's if it shuts off at a stop. I’ve replaced the battery thinking it was an older battery but still continues to happen. I'm very nervous thinking it will shut off while driving with my family. Please help!! I have not taken my vehicle to a repair shop hoping this can be fixed by the manufacture.

2 years ago I was driving down I-65 in indiana heading back to indiana and had an immediate loss of propulsion and had to steer to side of road with remaing power in the farthest left lane. Vehichles and semis at high speed as I tried to steer with remaining proprulsion to side of road. I was left stranded by Cadillac on side of road for several hours before having to get my own tow. Then was denied a repair claim saying it was because I failed to maintain vehicle for this vehicle leaving me without a vehicle for several months paying for my own rental as my vehicle set on the dealerships. Only to seek legal counsel to try to sue jiffy lube who did the repair for it to be finally determined s=jiffy lube was not at fault. It then took Cadillac several months after they admitted fault to find and source another engine. Once I got that vehicle back I was then stranded on side of the road twice after that repair and have videos dates of informing Cadillac. I have pics and videos and messages I sent to Cadillac I contacted the police for tow assistance as it was extremely cold and battery died while waiting for Cadillac repair no tow was available from police had to contact several companies to tow hours to dealership.
My family and I were leaving home to on vacation last year, when the vehicle suddenly cut off in traffic and refused to start. After getting the vehicle to my home which was 50 miles away. I just told the driver to park it on the street until I got back home, which was seven days later. After arriving back home, vehicle was towed to shop, at which time, no one could find anything wrong with my 2007 Escalade. So, after driving it for several minutes, the vehicle cut-off again and would not start, soc I phoned my wife, who came with my expediton and towed me home. After several attempts to start the vehicle, I was informed by a passersby that he had the same problem, that his fuel pump had went out. Well, guess what, it was the fuel pump. So, why is it that certified mechanics at a Cadillac dearlership couldn't diagnose this problem. It's unfuckinbeliveable that any dearlership, pepboys or any other auto repair shop wouldn't explore all options before saying " we can't find nothing wrong" totally inexcusable. .

I am having an electrical short that is shutting down everything while I'm driving or stopped, it makes driving it dangerous and scary. It looks like the recall from 2014 that describes everything I'm experiencing. Recall 14515 that talks about a chassis control module that controls a lot of things including the fuel pump and more electrical components to list. I have a vehicle that is dangerous to drive, im a disabled veteran and am tied to a powered chair. I have called Cadillac and they say that my Escalade is not included and they will do nothing for me. I'm at a lose as what to do, I could just sell it to someone else and let them deal with it or get killed in it. Either way is not a good choice. Let me know what you would do if you were in my position.

I bought the vehicle on may 27, 2021. I filled the tank with 87 octane on 3 separate occasions between may 27 and June 4, 2021. The engine (6. 2l v8 l86 ecotec) shut off during a trip on may 31, 2021. I was pulling into a restaurant and there were no indicators of any issues. While pulling up into the drive thru, the engine lost power. No check engine light appeared at all. On a second trip (June 6, 2021), the engine again lost power while coming off of a highway exit. This time, I experienced loss of acceleration and then the vehicle shut off as I pulled into a parking lot. Both times I had to put the vehicle into park, shut off and then start back up. Again, no check engine light. I drove the car to an auto parts store to buy a fuel additive. It was driving roughly at this point, but as I pulled into the parking lot, again a loss of power from the engine. It never started back up. Each time the vehicle shut off, I was driving it, not parked or stopped. There were also no indicators of any malfunction.
Er to case number: case#9-6698447273v 3136671128 vera Cadillac case escalated and I am not getting through. Just want to make sure that I made the effort to each our to dealerships and headquarters to no avail. And if this is really is what is happening, this is what really need to be done properly: per lemon vehicle with extended warranty program, with defective equipment (manufacturer’s defects)failure to service right rear tire request per fotainment alert. Plus steering wheel airbag failure to inflate and deploy upon collision, resulting internal injuries, including, but not limited to loss of smell and loss of taste due to this defective automobile. Also note: diagnostics mentioned vehicle was up for a possible recall with its fuel system.

Our 2016 Escalade with 20,000 miles had the tail pipe corrode and fall of the vehicle. The rear bumper was subject to excessive exhaust heat which subsequently melted the bumper and back-up sensors. If the issue wasn't noticed, a major thermal event could have occurred and the truck could have been a total loss. Cadillac has refused to warranty this issue. We also have a 2019 Escalade that is showing significant signs of corrosion at the same weld. I believe this is 100% a design issue. The service dealer, autonation in palm beach, FL told me that they wouldn't warranty because I asked them to install the Cadillac optional upgrade exhaust, not would they cover any of the melted components due to the inferior tail pipe design. I have photos of the 2016 exhaust upon failure and the 2019 with the start of corrosion that I can email directly.

This is an exhaust fume related complaint that is also related to an electrical component failure of the rear hatch locking mechanism. When the rear hatch locking mechanism is not fully engaged the liftgate is not completely closed allowing gas fumes to enter the vehicle and it has a really bad exhaust fumes smell. . . . . The gas is entering the vehicle CO carbon monoxide hydrocarbons and methane gas ch4.
When passing a vehicle, I pressed the throttle pedal completely to the floor. After passing the vehicle, I removed my foot from the pedal and the pedal remained stuck fully down with the engine at full throttle. I kicked at the pedal several times and the pedal popped up. This has happened several times and I try now to not press the pedal completely down, but I always wonder if and when it will stick again.

The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Escalade ext. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Dimmitt Cadillac of st. Petersburg (3333 gandy blvd d, pinellas park, FL 33781, (727) 493-5067) was contacted and stated that the fuel control module was not under warranty. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,472.
I purchased my car used from a dealership in 2009 and I now have the following problems with it. A check engine light that will not go out, the error states the fuel cap is not tight and no matter how much I tightened it never goes away. When fueling the car fuel will overflow if not paying attention. Also the the shift lever position is no longer illuminated so I am not sure which position the car is in most of the time I have to listen and gauge it before trying to put it in gear. I never received an communications that the car was under recall but from what I am seeing from the NHTSA website these are the problems that I am now having.
