The battery in my Escalade had been dying on me for a while. One day, my gauges all stayed stuck as if I was driving on the freeway. I drove it for a while until I was tired of jump-starting it almost everyday and I finally replaced the battery. The gauges all stayed the same. A few days went by and the battery started to die again. I realized that this was more than just a battery problem. I drove it 5 miles away from my place on the freeway and as I was coming back home it started to decelerate all on it's own. It marked "system stability disabled" and would not let me go over 25 mph. I have not driven it since November and would like to know what is going on with this. I read about a recall but this problem was supposed to be fixed since 2002 when the recall notice was sent out. As I have read the descriptions on what people's problems with this same type of vehicle was, I notice that it is exactly what is going on with my vehicle. (bcm recall 2002 #02066) .

Driving on the i10, semis all around, driving about 65 mph. My daughter and her friend in the vehicle. All of the sudden it felt like I hit a wall. All power went out, lost all speed, when the power flickered back on, lights only no speed, all the dashboard was lite up, everything was making a sound, the vehicle kept going from d -drive to p-park, the rpm were maxed- yet no speed. At 51k I noticed the vehicle shifting hard and took it in to a Cadillac dealership, thousands of dollars later, it has continued to do the same thing, just two days ago 2-7-15, it is still doing the same thing. Many times I have been in danger of loosing my life, am not exaggerating. My vehicle has only been touched by the dealership for all of its services and repair. This vehicle is extremely unsafe for driving. I have a book of all my service record documenting the same issue over, and over. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Again. According to my research there are thousands of people experiencing the same problem, and Cadillac just sits back, probably waiting for loss of lives.

2000 Cadillac Escalade. The consumer stated there was a problem on the highway. The vehicle began to accelerate. When the consumer pulled over they had to put it into neutral and turn it off. The vehicle was then towed. The dealership stated it was the throttle gasket. The vehicle just had the 30,000 mile check up two weeks ago. There were no problems at this time. There were no warning light before this and there was no indication that this was going to happen.

The consumer was in a parking lot driving 10 mph, when all of a sudden the car accelerated. The consumer hit a concrete slab and ripped it out of asphalt, and was up on top of it. The concrete slab was 21/2 x4 feet; the car was still accelerating very loudly. She pulled her foot away and looked and there was nothing touching the gas pedal. She put the vehicle in park and it was still accelerating; pulled the keys out and it turned off. Cadillac found carbon in the throttle body. There was no police report, because the incident happened on private property.
