Three problems related to wiring have been reported for the 1996 Cadillac Seville. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1996 Cadillac Seville sls. The contact was traveling 30 mph when an error message appeared indicating that the vehicle would not start. The vehicle then stalled. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic. The mechanic stated that a grounded fuse caused a failure to the wiring harness in the instrument panel. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were unknown.
On several occasions consumer smelled smoke and a burning odor coming from the steering column while driving 50 mph. Vehicle was taken to two separate dealers. Both dealers informed consumer that the problem was not covered under a recall.
Consumer was traveling about 70mph on highway and rpms went all the way to zero. He pulled over and had to be towed. Dealership was aware of the problem . Meter assembly/sender assemble and harness. There was a design flaw. Also, wires were melted together, causing a shortage.
