Air Bag Problems of Cadillac Seville

�takata recall� I was driving my 1995 Cadillac Seville out of a shop-rite parking lot on September 30th, 2017 and was involved in a crash. I was driving very slowly as I was approaching a stop sign and route 46 (a busy highway). My airbags deployed inadvertently and I hit the car in front of me. The airbags smashed the windshield. According to NHTSA campaign number 98v115000, 1995 Cadillac Seville �passenger vehicles inadvertent deployment of the airbags can occur due to water intrusion. � I then contacted general motors who stated that my particular vehicle was not subject to the recall. They performed an investigation and informed me that they would not assist me with the repairs but refused to give me a reason. According to the NHTSA website: �frontal airbags are generally designed to deploy in �moderate/severe� frontal or near-frontal crashes, which are defined as crashes that are equivalent to hitting a solid, fixed barrier at 8-14 mph or higher. (this would be equivalent to striking a parked car of similar size at about 16-28 mph or higher. )� since I was going much slower than 8-14 mph, I believe my car should have been included in this recall and gm is not taking responsibility. Is there anything you can do to assist me or advise me?.

While stopped behind 3 vehicles at a stoplight I florida a female who said she was unfamiliar with driving her husbands stick shift vehicle stalled out. Two vehicles in front of me pulled around her when the light changed, this left about twenty feet between my car and hers. She accidentally put the car in reverse and backed into mine at about 15 miles per hour. When I started to get out of the car she pulled forward fifteen to twenty feet before the engine of her car quit. As I watched to see what she was doing she got the car started and put it in reverse again hitting my car again. She did this three times before getting it in a forward gear and moving forward without the car engine stalling. At no time did during this did the airbags in the Seville deploy.

The contact owns a 1996 Cadillac Seville. While approaching a stop, the front driver and passenger air bags deployed independently and without impact. The contact sustained abrasions to the right arm, which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 156,000.

Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Cadillac Seville. The contact stated that while in a parking area of a hospital that there was a loud boom and the drivers side front seat air bag deployed with force. A gray substance emitted into the vehicle. The driver sustained a loss of hearing in the left ear, 3 neck fractures, abrasions on the arms and further medical treatment. A medical incident report was filed. The dealer roberts auto mall, 19 park ln, downingtown, PA 19335, (610) 269-8200 was made aware of the failure but had not provided any technical guidance to investigate, diagnose and repair the vehicle. The vehicle was driven and parked due to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, had no air bag recall and no air bag TSB so the contact was uncertain if they had a permanent remedy to provide for a fix. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000. Dyd.

I received a recall notice in the mail.

The contact stated while driving down the street the dashboard exploded, and the air bags deployed without warning. The contact pulled over to the side of the road. Then , had the vehicle towed to a dealership where it is currently. Repairs will be done at the contact's expense.

Smoke came out of the steering column when I took off from a stop light. It was not a great deal of smoke but enough for me to question the problem. I took it to the mechanic and he checked all the wiring in the column and did not find any burned wires. When he removed the air bag package he found what appeared to be burn marks on air bag assembly. He recommended that I take it to dealer at this time.

While driving at approximately 15 mph the air bags in the front deployed inadvertently.
