The contact owns a 2013 Cadillac Srx. While driving at any speed, the vehicle lost power without warning and the engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the spark plugs needed to be replaced. The spark plugs were replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign number: 13v097000 (electrical system, power train). The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
2013 Cadillac Srx. Consumer writes in regards to acceleration problems. The consumer stated he was involved in head-on collision, two days prior to receiving the recall notice, regarding a 3-4 second lag in acceleration. The consumer was injured and the vehicle had significant frontal damage. The consumer stated when he attempted to make a left turn, the vehicle hesitated and by that time, another vehicle was coming toward him. The consumer referenced recall # 14v212000.
2013 cadiilac Srx. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle transmission malfunction. On June 14, 2014, the consumer was involved in an accident, in front of his residence. The last time, the consumer was at the dealer, he complained about the transmission acting strange. In particular without warning, it would race, the rpm would surge and it was necessary to brake during those times. When he entered the driveway, the automatic transmission was in gear. He brought the vehicle to a full and complete stop, with his right foot maintaining constant pressure on the brake pedal, he moved the gear indicator from drive to park. Immediately upon doing so, the transmission started racing. As the vehicle was in park, he took his right foot of the brake pedal. His hands were not on the steering wheel and his foot was not on the brake or accelerator pedal. With the engine racing, he reached for the key to turn off the engine, but the vehicle suddenly lurched forward, out of park and shot forward. The vehicle moved approximately 15 feet, knocking over a large planter, a four inch statue and finally coming to rest against a brick facade of his home. During the ordeal, the air bag did not deploy. Four days later, the consumer received a recall notice in the mail, regarding the transmission problem.
