I am only guessing the year because it is not my vehicle. I want to alert the nhtsb to what I consider a safety defect in this vehicle. The rear brake lights are excessively bright to the point of affecting the vision of someone following this vehicle. Last night I was following one of these in a line of cars and the brake lights were so bright it affected my ability to see the road. Since this is an SUV of sorts, it was made worse by the high mounting of not only the normal lights but the center brake light. I can understand the need to have brake lights visible and certainly on a foggy night they would be useful, but for normal clear driving like last night they are too bright and can lead to an accident as the brightness affects the vision of the person following the vehicle. As I mentioned, I do not know the year and didn't think to get the license number but the 2 markings were "srx" and either "315" or more likely "3. 5". Even with my high beam headlights which were needed to counteract the effect of the high brightness brake lights it was difficult to make out the 3. 5.
