The contact owns a 2018 Cadillac Xt5. The vehicle was recently purchased, and while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate above 5 mph with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The dealer was notified and sent a mobile mechanic to the residence to diagnose the vehicle; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, and it was diagnosed that the emission starter module had failed. The dealer reprogrammed the emission starter module. The contact stated that a week after the repairs were performed, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle sputtered, and the failure persisted. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed due to the cost. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was no longer able to be started. The contact stated that the vehicle was repossessed but was recovered. The vehicle was towed to the residence and had not been driven since. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

I was backing out of a parking space in reverse as I have done multiple times and the second I took my foot off the brake pedal to go into reverse, my car shot out at a high speed and hit a parked car on the other side of the street. Not realizing that there was an auto malfunction, I attempted to turn around my car to see the damage to the other car and when I went into reverse again to turn around, the car sped up again at high speed, did a 180 degree turn in reverse and hit two additional parked cars. Luckily, no one was hurt. I am 100% certain that I did not depress the accelerator pedal to cause the car to go at that speed in reverse twice! we contacted general motors which supposedly had their engineers look at the mechanicals of the car but the only information we received from them is that the car did accelerate both times at 99% of capacity. The air bags did not deploy so the crash computer did not activiate. Gm either did not examine the soft ware on the car, or, if they did, that information was not shared with us. If I had been in a crowded parking lot, the consequences could have been catastophic.

After exiting a car wash (automated)on Monday-7/3/23, I was attempting to stop my vehicle so I could dry the exterior with towels. I was on the car wash property and as I approached an area that was open, I attempted to stop the vehicle, the engine revved very high and the vehicle took off at a very high speed in fractions of a second. The vehicle then climbed over a flower embankment and hit the wall of the car wash. The impact was so great that it put a large hole in the wall and ruptured a main water line creating a huge water leak. The fire department and police officer arrived at the scene to make a report. My initial thought was that my sandal may have got trapped but after returning home and rethinking the entire incident may times I believe this was “unintentional acceleration “ the driver side airbag and knee airbag were deployed. Thankfully I was not hurt. Had this happened when I was on a road or a grocery store/ mall parking lot things could have been very serious. I have insurance through state farm and have requested them numerous times to have a diagnostic check done to identify the reason for this to happen and they have declined my request. Please let me know what the next steps are.
While driving the vehicle started to accelerate in its own. There was nothing obstructing the pedal. I could press down on brake with some resistance, but as soon as brake was released the, the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle did not level out with speed but continued to accelerate over 80 mph. This lasted about 8/9 mins, being controlled by riding on the break. It did it again for about 2/3 mins about 15 mins after first occurance. I took the car straight to get it looked at and the mechanic said that they could not find anything wrong with car.

To recall department, I purchased the above car in Jan 2021 since that time I had to take this car in for repairs 3 times concerning steering brake problem ane reducing speed and also the thermostat problem. In reviewing this the consumer reports I found out that this was one of the worst years of making the Xt5 and a recall was done for 2017 but for the cars that was manufactory in 2016. If a car get on the dealers floor in 2017 most likely it was manufactured in 2016. So I want to know why my car hasn't been notifty for a recall and I'm having to take this car to the shop on three or four occasions for the same problem. I would like to somebody to look into this situation and reimburse me for my out of pocket expensive. This should be a manufactory problem and gm should be doing the repairs for free. Please feel free to contact me for any additional questions or concerns. Rosette jackson rhillztc@gmail. Com.
While driving at low speed lost all power steering . Was able to get it back home . When checked again later power steering was working . While driving later that day brakes engaged to a sudden slamming stop , red abs engaged light flashed then went away . Both incidents could’ve caused accidents. I’m scared to drive this car anymore. A week prior I thought the gears weren’t engaging / transmission seemed to be slipping ? 6 months prior braking engaged on freeway , also scary . . Dealer said it needed a update and would be fine . 5 months ago I was unable to reverse out of my driveway , dealer also said it was in need of a update . I never received notice I was in need of any updates before these problems occurred .

The accelerator on the car started to excel and shift in traffic where I had to pull over. Over the last few months the car has had some electrical issues with the braking and collision alerts going off and the car stopping which the dealer said they couldn't find the problem. Also the brakes since purchasing the vehicle has had to be switched out several times and now the parking brake light is on after being repaired 2 times. This car is definitely unsafe and the dealer insist it is.
While driving on city street, when accelerator hits the floor, the pedal will stick, continually accelerating. There is no way to unstick this as the vehicle continues to increase speed. I was able to use the brakes, even though the pedal was to the floor; I stepped on the pedal thinking it may release it and eventually it did. This has happened twice in the last week. Very scary.
My vehicle has shown the service stabilitrak, tcs off, and transmission unable to shift soon while driving. This happens several times; and after certain times the car will not shift and I am not able to go past 50-60 mph.

I was traveling on I-95 at aprrox. 75/80 mph when my dashboard lit-up like a christmas tree and my Cadillac powered down to less than 50 mph instantly. The stabilitrak, check engine light, parking brake and car assist lights came on with a warning to "travel with care". I had to maneuver my vehicle over three lanes to get off at the nearest exit. I had no idea what just happened. There was no noise, smoke or evidence that the vehicle had a problem. However, I could only drive the car 55 mph with the foot pedal pressed to the floor board. It was 4:00 am and I was an hour from home. Instead of contacting roadside assistance, I drove the vehicle home. . . Taking precautions. I contacted the dealership. . . Who could not accommodate servicing my vehicle until the following morning. The following morning, all the lights were off. I dropped the vehicle off at the Cadillac dealership for service. After they checked out my vehicle and took it for a test drive (taking it up to 80 mph), I was informed that they could not find a problem. No codes were stored in the computer system. They could not duplicate what I experienced. I find that odd. I am pretty sure that when a check engine light comes on and a car malfunctions that a code would be stored. I do not feel comfortable with my vehicle. I mainly drive within my small town. . . Not having to exceed 45 mph on a daily basis. However, I do have to travel on the interstate for work 2-3 times a month. I am very uneasy about having to drive on the interstate at high speeds in heavy traffic again. I was not given confidence or comfort from the service department. This whole experience has left me disenchanted with this Cadillac. I can't get out of it and buy or trade-in on something new at this time. I feel I should have received better service and reassurance. Darlene h. Winchester, va.
The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac Xt5. While driving approximately 10 mph in reverse with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated. There were warning indicators illuminated. The contact had to engage the parking brake to stop the vehicle. An unknown dealer was contacted, but no appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving 30mph on city street engine made loud roaring noise and dramatically slowed itself down to almost a stop as if I slammed on brakes. I had vehicle(1715 mileage) towed to dealership. They kept it 2 days and told me nothing was wrong. I picked up car and while driving home the engine made loud noise and dramatically slowed down once again. The next day I took my car to another dealership hoping they could repair vehicle. They kept car for 14 days and told me they could not duplicate concern and did not repair. So I picked up car hoping it would not happen again. It did happen 3 more times. One incident happened while driving through intersection on city street engine made loud roaring noise and abruptly slowed itself down to almost a stop. But in this instance when I stepped on accelerator to drive forward to get out of intersection the car would not move,it froze . Luckily I did not get hit in the back. I waited, turned car off, and then turned it on. I was able to drive home. I took car back to dealership on 7/19/17 explaining the car was unsafe since these problems are erratic and I could get hit in the back when the vehicle slows down to a stop in the middle of traffic. They kept car for 9 days called and told me they could not find problem so they wanted their loaner back. I was afraid to drive car back home so the dealer delivered car to my house and took back loaner on 7/28/17. It has been in my garage since then since I fear for my safety and my family and will not drive car fearing I'll get hit while driving if the vehicle malfunctions again. I never get a warning of any sort before it happens. After it happens and I turn the car off and on again the vehicle seems perfect. But I never know when it will break again since it is erratic. It is definitely a safety hazard.
