The contact owns a 2014 Cadillac Xts. The contact stated that his son and wife were driving back home on the highway at an undisclosed speed when all of a sudden they heard a loud sound come from the rear end of the vehicle, this sound continued to persist and so the contacts son proceeded to veer off onto the next exit to park their vehicle in order to inspect where the obnoxious sound had come from. The contact stated that his son had called him to arrive to the scene in order to inspect the vehicle, upon the contact arriving to check out the vehicle, he noticed a clear crack across the narrow flange of the catalytic converter. The contact proceeded to turn on the vehicle and noticed that the check engine light was illuminated, and the exhaust would make an obnoxiously loud noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle inspected however not diagnosed. The contact was advised that the catalytic converter had a massive crack in it, and that he would have to replace it. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,208.
