Brake Electric Antilock problems of the 1999 Chevrolet 1500

1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2006

The contact stated there was pulsation, and the abs brakes engaged at low speeds, resulting in extended stopping distance. There was NHTSA recall campaign 05v379000 regarding the anti-lock brakes. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it was not included in the recall due to the VIN. No repairs have been made. Updated 02/07/06.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 10/31/2003

The contact is having a problem with the abs. It is engaging at low speeds at 5 mph. This has been a continuing problem for the past two years. He pulled the abs fuse to get the abs deactivated. The vehicle is running correctly now that the fuse has been removed. He contacted gm, and was informed that there were no recalls on this vehicle. Also, he states that the straps on the tailgate are not holding correctly.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2003

Abs system went out on my 1999 Chevrolet silverado at 60,000 miles. Dealership says they are seeing hundreds of these.

4 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Abs pump continually runs, even after engine is shut off. Dealer determined part needed to be replaced.

Abs module has gone out twice on vehicle . Contacted dealer. . Consumer stated the motor wouldnot shut off.

When appyling abs brakes pedal goes to floor, causing extended stopping distance. Abs system is inoperable due to a module failure.

While driving at 70 to 80 mph applied the brakes, and they didn't work, causing the consumer to rear end another vehicle.

When brakes are applied they pull to the left most of the time.

10 Brake Electric Antilock problem

When applying abs brakes in normal braking conditions vehicle hesitates, causing extended stopping distance, and nearly resulting in a collision. Also a grinding and squealing noise occurs in the front end of the vehicle which the dealer states is normal. Please give any further details.

11 Brake Electric Antilock problem

When the abs engages, it causes the consumer to lose control of the stopping distance without any warning. Consumer has to disconnect the fuses.
