Tailgate Hinge problems of the 2000 Chevrolet 1500

Three problems related to tailgate hinge have been reported for the 2000 Chevrolet 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tailgate Hinge problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2006

I would like to notify someone that the recall the Chevrolet has out # 04007 may apply to other VIN numbers. My vehicle did not fall into the VIN break , however, the same defect has occurred. Corrosion under the jacket and the cable breaks in two pieces. The last eight of my VIN y1102238.

2 Tailgate Hinge problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2005

Tailgate cable corroded and broke. Consumer stated that vehicle was not included in the recall. The consumer also replaced the cable that hadn't borken yet.

3 Tailgate Hinge problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2004

Tailgate fell off while pulling onto the highway. Tailgate was being dragged without consumer's knowledge. Recall 04v129000 was received for the defect.
