One problem related to tire sidewall has been reported for the 2002 Chevrolet 1500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving on the freeway at 60 mph, driver's side rear tire exploded from the sidewall. When this occurred, driver lost control, and went off the road. Other 3 tires and spare were splitting at the sidewall. Cause of the failure was undetermined.
