Chevrolet 1500 owners have reported 8 problems related to body (under the structure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Typical gm product, rear bumper rust out, brake likes rusted completely out, rear cross members, fuel tank cross member has rusted out completely on passenger side where the shock mounts to and the same for the rear crommm member where the shock mounts to on the driver side. I mean the fuel tan cross member holds the tank in place and if that tank dropps then I'd assume that it would be a safety issue. Atleast I hope so.

Where clutch master cylinder mounts in clutch pedal assy broke. Was unable to get out of gear causing me to hit a pole. Damaging bumper hood fender headlight turn signal and grill. Called the dealer they told me that clutch braking issues while driving is not a safety issue. I have done some checking and there are a lot of people with this issue but because gm says not a safety issue they just want to sell us parts to fix this problem.

While driving home on 5/1/2014 traffic stopped short. I hit the brakes to stop. The truck stopped ok. Traveled about another 2 blocks and when I hit the brake pedel to stop. It went to the floor and I ad no brakes. I hit the back of another car due to not being able to stop, after the truck was towed to repair shop it was found to have rusted, broken brake line. This caused the truck not to stop. The insurance company wound up totaling the truck due to the damage.

A truck went tho a red light as I was under the light heading east and the other vehicle was at stop light and for unknown reason it took off hitting the front of my right fender and putting me into a spin. At first I didn't realize what happened. The my van stopped. The police asked if I was ok. I said no. I got hit in the face and right arm by the 2 air bags in front. I was the only person in the van. The air bags were broke open. Never had accident before were air bag went off. Did not know how they were supposed to look. Till I seen on the tv recalls. And they are not supposed to break open. The jell behind my right eye split. I have to see a dr. Every 6 months now to check pressure in eye for glaucoma now.

Right side spring shackle failed due to excessive corrosion right side of rear bumper corroded to the point the mount failed.
My rear bumper on my chevy 1500 4x4 silverado truck is rotting off the truck, yes rotting never in my life I seen poor quality in parts gm is using, rear bumpers are suppose to protect you from a crash this bumper is rotting off my truck this is a safety hazard and should be recalled.
Door latch passenger side failed while driving, causing the door to swing open and passenger to almost fall out. Passenger was kept in vehichle by safety belt. No injuries but quite a frightening expierince. This is not the first latch failure on this vehicle, the drivers side door also had a latch failure approx. A year ealier. This is caused by the latch springs rusting though and the latch releasing. Spoke with other owners they have had the same problem, also spoke with the dealers repair shop, not an uncommon problem with the vehicle. Expensive to repair as well, the part is $175 plus labor for each latch.
The rusting out of this vehicle is so bad. Our brake line all have rusted through and our gas tank strap also rusted off. Luckily no accident have occurred.
