I pulled into driveway and put car in park, left engine running. Went to door of residence to get my kids. Kids went out to the car and were yelling fire! I seen the inside up in smoke. I reached inside to turn engine off. We then started pouring buckets of water into seat and on floor around the seat to try to prevent spread of the fire. I luckily put the fire out. Fire dept unhooked battery and removed melted plastic around seat. It seems a wire somehow shorted out beneath seat and caught the seat and floor on fire.

Was driving down road on 8/22/2015 turned corner heard loud pop and truck slid sideways into gaurd rail. I get out and see my shock wedged up in frame. Noticed lots of frame rust and shock support completely rusted away. My whole familly has the 02 to 06 chevy pickups and it seems there frames are atleast twice as thick (measuring in the non rusted sections). Now I need to find a new vehicle and thats all thats wrong with my truck. I wish chevy would do something for us chevy guys.

I had the ignition sleeve required in recall done. Never had problems with key before that. Since then, have trouble starting car; the garage replaced battery (was 6 yrs. Old) because they could find nothing else wrong with the car. Still I have difficulty starting the car. . . . . . . . . . Yesterday it took 3 tries. I moved in the interim of having this done. . . . So going back to simon Chevrolet in woonsocket,ri is out of the question. I called salvatore Chevrolet in gardner, MA. And they told me there would be a $200. Charge to find out what the problem was. Never had problems before and this should not be a charged for issue. Any suggestions? also, this morning the diamond shaped button for the warning lights broke off and fell into dash. . . . . . The car is sound and I keep it well kept up. These are just frustrating issues. Please advise. Thank you for the time and effort put into this matter. Sincerely. . . . Jacqueline cushman.

My car has only 50,400 miles-its a 2009, yesterday while driving I felt a jolting in the rear end of the truck and it continued each time I stopped and started driving again. I took it to my mechanic who informed me it was a transmission shifting problem. I went on line and discovered that this issue has been related to other silverado trucks as a recall due to a shift cable adjuster problem which can lead to a roll away.

While driving my 2004 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 around town I encountered my first ever brake failure. Fortunately, no accident occurred. I was in traffic, needing to apply braking. The brake pedal felt normal at first and then suddenly it, the pedal, began softly and mushingly headed toward the floorboard. I was able to slow the truck down eventually but the distance required for breaking had now tripled or quadrupled. Definitely a safety issue. Then, low and behold, and just a bit too late there came the idiot light telling me to check the brakes. Imperfect timing to say the least. Luckily I was able to pull over and into an auto shop. Thankfully, the shop had lots of chevy experience and was able to confirm that Chevrolet is aware of the rusted brake line problem as it is been in the investigation pipeline for a while.

On 09/10/13, 1:45 pm, I was driving east on s. R. 73 near I-75 intersection. As I approached the intersection traveling approximately 35 mph, the light changed to yellow. I braked somewhat hard and the brake pedal went to the floor board. There was no braking control at all and I proceeded through the red signal. Approximately 500 feet after going through the intersection I managed to stop in the median. Fortunately, although traffic was heavy, no contact occurred. Immediate inspection revealed a brake line rusted through. I trailered the truck to a Chevrolet dealer who found not only "all" the brake lines were dangerously rusted, but the gas lines also were dangerously rusted. The dealer stated this was a common occurrence with Chevrolet silverado. Replacement of these items required removing the truck bed which revealed the brake rotor backing plates rusted "away. " severe frame and component rust was also found. Only repaired brake and gas lines. Cost, $1,765. 11 OH, by the way, the "service brake system" warning light came on after brake failure.
Tire separation, one tire, remained inflated, tread came completely off. Uniroyal tiger paw xtm, p235/75r15 108s m&s - - - dot aphlcbu113. No accident or damage to anything except the tire. Old tire? appeared "brand-new. " just purchased the vehicle.
Brake pedal went to the floor with no warning and pumping the brakes did very little to assist. Went through a stop sign since this was at the bottom of a lower grade, and was able to nurse it to a large parking lot. Inspected the cause and seen the corroded brake lines and could not tell which of the 5 lines were the cause.
Recently took car for balancing and rotation at ntb. They saw oil dip was dry and was low oil level. Took it back to shop who did oil change one month ago. They said oil is vaporizing. I didn't understand how. Tech showed me black sluggish inside tail pipe saying that could be bad catalytic converter and it could have caused because of oil burning inside exhaust. I researched online about this issue and did find out that all gm & chevy owner having this issue with v8 engine on any liter. Shop replaced knock sensor twice but still service engine light came back on. It is very expensive repair cost to replace broken bolts on manifold. I hope manufacture will fix this issue as soon as possible so that consumer don't have to go through not passing state inspection.
