Two problems related to battery have been reported for the 2001 Chevrolet 2500. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Nhtsa action number pe06016 2001 chevy 2500 hd 4x4 with 8. 1 l; stalling at highway speeds, loss of power steering and brakes. Battery/security light comes on when vehicle stalls; vehicle may or may not start for about 10-30 min after stall; cranking but not starting. Additional, after vehicle is parked it will crank but not start. Replaced fuel filter, cap and rotor, wires & plugs; had injectors cleaned and the problem has not been fixed.
The contact noticed an ongoing consumption of windshield washer fluid. Upon further investigation he discovered the windshield washer hose cracked and was leaking fluid onto his battery. He took the vehicle to a dealer, who replaced the battery, windshield washer hose, and motor. The repairs were not covered by warranty and was made at the contact's expense.
