general problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Astro

Three problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Astro. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/19/2001

Vehicle pulled into parking lot at vet clinic and due to a mechanical malfuction , accelereted and struck vet building. Put vehichle in reverse in an attempt to back away from the building, and the vehicle accelerated again, travling in reverse across a busy road (thankfully no cars were coming) and struck a house with the rear of the vehicle.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/01/1999

Due to the defective accelerator that binds vehicle would not slow down when foot is off accelerator pedal or when applying accelerator pedal. Vehicle surges forward which may result in a crash. Dealer replaced the throttle body, but the problem still exists.
