4 Brake Light problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2003

2001 Chevrolet Astro van. VIN 1gndm19w81b122816. I had to pay $420+ today to fix a gm known safety problem. I was told my car was not covered. They told me I had no other complaint option. Stop lamps/hazard lamps inoperative2000-2001 Chevrolet blazer and trailblazer (classic); GMC jimmy and envoy(classic); and Oldsmobile bravada (classic) summary: vehicle description: sport utility vehicles. The multifunction switch could develop an open circuit condition that results in the stop lamps and the rear hazard lamps becoming inoperative. The center high mounted stop lamp and turn signal functions are not affected. Consequence: the loss of stop lamps and rear hazard lamps could fail to warn a following driver that the vehicle is braking and/or is stopped and could result in a crash. This is the same problem as NHTSA #01v364000 or NHTSA recall no. 01v364/gm gm/chevy uses the same steering yoke for the Astro/safari vans. They did not include the vans in their the referenced safety recall. They only included the 2000-01 Chevrolet blazer, GMC jimmy, and Oldsmobile bravada. Why not the Astro/safari. They know this is the same part/failure? the gm campaign number I found was 01073 and 01073a.
