Tire Sidewall Problems of Chevrolet Astro

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Astro. The contact stated that when he purchased the preowned vehicle, the dealer replaced all of the tires. The sidewall on all four advanta SUV spectra, size p215-70r-16 tires were cracked. The tires had less than 21,000 miles on them when the failure was discovered. The tires were replaced. The failure and current mileages were approximately 91,500. Updated 12/02/10 the consumer stated he has the invoice for the new tires. Updated 12/07/10.

Noticed my tire losing air and have to fill it. Upon filling, I saw a split in the tire and silver metal showing through. The tire is splitting on the sidewall and yet I have lots of tread left on the tire. All the other tires are showing a "ring" of deterioration as well. Yet they all have significant tread left on them. We were told the tires were new when we purchased the vehicle in fall 2005.

Vehicle tire blew out while driving. While driving the vehicle began to pull to the right. A short time later the passenger side front tire blewout through the sidewall. The consumer saw no nail or other indication of a puncture.

The second tire failed while sitting in garage. I attempted repair of 2nd tire and was told sidewall had delaminated and could not be repaired. I have kept this tire for anyone to look at who wishes to. I can get police report confirming that I had tire failure on interstate because I required police assistance to keep from being "run over" while putting on spare tire.
