1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2010

Sometimes my 2002 chevy Avalanche 8. 1 will not start. I lock car again with remote fob, unlock and usually it starts. Sometimes it takes several attempts at locking, unlocking before it will start. Now vehicle stalls with no warning, no power brakes, steering etc. Does this at random speeds without notice or any apparent consistency. This has happened on the freeway at high speeds and is very dangerous. To restart I must try and get pulled over safely, lock and unlock truck with fob and hope it starts. Sometimes will do after once, sometimes after several attempts. Not really sure the fob resetting of security system is the difference or it just happens to start. When are they going to fix this potentially fatal problem???.

4 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

4 times now my vehicle has stalled with no warning or any indication of anything wrong with the vehicle I. E. Warning codes, lights, or symbols. There has always been plenty of fuel in the tank. It happened to me this morning on the way to work traveling at about 65 mph after finishing a curve in the road. The engine died for about 2-3 seconds and then it restarted by itself. The other day my daughter and I were coming back from the dr. And I had just made a left hand turn from one busy road to another and it completely stalled on me. I had to stop in afternoon traffic and after about a minute and completely turning the key off and putting it into park it finally started. I talked to the service writer at quality chevy and he told me that many of the same trucks have been coming in and having the crank position sensor replaced. I did some research and found that the 2001 silverado's with the 8. 1l engine, same as mine, had a recall for them. On the Avalanche fan club web sight, I found a lot of people on there with the same problem as mine and having the crank position sensor replaced. They all had the same deal, vehicle stalls with no codes. Thanks for your help!.

Vehicle stalls out at any speed and will not restart for several minutes. It is random and does this intermittently and is gradually getting more frequent. 11 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2002

Traveling from texas to florida, vehicle began stalling. At times the vehicle wouldn't shift out of lower gears, at times it wouldn't start, at times it would shut off. Found dealer in florida that changed out a wiring harness in the steering column. The vehicle had less than 30,000 miles at this point. Have also had to have the engine replaced at 50,000 miles. Dealer couldn't figure out why the engine wouldn't work, nor could the dealership repair. Replaced with a new engine and is currently at 30,000 on new engine and problems starting again. This vehicle does not tow or drive off road at any time, there is a defect in this product that needs to be addressed.

12 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2002

It stalls when accelerating from a turn. Mostly on right turns as you accelerate out of the turn the vehicle dies. It starts right back up, but it does this intermittently about once a week. The truck has been to two different dealers a total of 5 times for this problem. Neither one can duplicate the problem. It happened again this weekend. I am afraid that my husband or another member of my family is going to get hurt in this truck. I am trying to deal with gm but they are giving me the run around. They can't do anything if they can't duplicate the problem.
