3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2014

I was coming down the hill and saw 2 vehiles stopped one was going to turn once traffic was clear. And I started slowing down almost to a stop on a hill and I got about 2 car lenghts away still stepping on my breaks and all the sudden my break light came on. A warning came up and said service break system when I slambed into the rear end of the car in front of me who intern hit the car infront of them. I had just replaced my breaks and roters 45 days before this. I blew the breakline on the front. July 2012 I blew a breakline. Noone was injured that time and also blew a break line August 2013. So for the 3 time blowing a breakline there is something wrong. I lived in the north carolina until moving to west virginia in 2012 and this has happen every year since I moved north.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2013

Vehicle was moving at approximately 50 miles per hour and brakes were applied to prepare for a right turn. At first the brakes were beginning to be effective, but sudden loss of hydrological pressure resulted in brake pedal traveling all the way to the floor and little to no braking power was available. Indicator lights and bells illuminated indicating that the braking system needed serviced. Vehicle coasted to a stop and was placed into park. Brake fluid was visible on the passenger side front wheel well.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Applied brakes, pedal went to the floor - truck could not stop - ran into bushes on side of road.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2013

I was driving at a speed of 50 mph approaching stopped traffic, when I applied the breaks, the break peddle went to the floor and the vehicle do not slow down. The break light came and and I applied the emergency break to slow to a stop. I then had the vehicle towed to a repair shop where they told me that all four of the break linings were rusted through. I hunt and fish with this vehicle and go off road a lot, this is why I purchased this vehicle in the first place. To have a off road vehicle manufactured with break linings that rust through is criminal.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2013

I was driving the vehicle at 45 mph and the brakes went out without warning or a warning light. It made me almost hit another vehicle in front of me. My pregnant wife and I were in the vehicle at the time. It seems many other people have had this problem, it should be fixed ASAP.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2012

Truck in reverse my foot on the brake pedal, on a driveway with an incline , I was waiting to back out of the drive way onto the street when the brake pedal went to the floor , and the truck started to roll backwards into the street. With some luck , I remembered to apply the emergency brake and stop the truck. After being towed to a repair shop I was shown that the break lines were all rusted very bad , and that 1 of them had blown out with no warning and all fluid was lost. I felt lucky to be alive. My truck looks new from the out side and in , I keep it clean and have it inspected for the state of PA yearly. When I looked under the truck at the repair shop I was shocked that everything was covered in rust , it looked like a 50 year old truck. I owned a 1978 gm truck for 16 years - 250,000 miles and it was not rusted under the body like this.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2011

Pulling out of parking lot and when merging into traffic I pressed on the brake pedal and it went completely to the floor without any braking action. The pedal came back up to normal position and I pressed it again harder the second time while simultaneously shifting into first gear. The pedal went to the floor again but locked up the wheels and the vehicle gradually came to a stop.

Brakes lines broke while in traffic at stop light. Manage to drive in low gear 1/2 block to repair shop. They replaced the lines.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2009

Same problem as found in NHTSA id # 05v37900 in 2002 chevy Avalanche is occurring in my 2003 chevy Avalanche. The abs is activated when reaching a speed of 5 mph or less. This is causing my Avalanche to not stop immediately at stop signs or red lights. My Avalanche will travel approximately 2 to 3 feet closer to the car or intersection I am stopping at. If I roll through the stop sign or not go below 5 mph while turning, the abs do not come on.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2008

Abs system vehicle activates abs system below 5 mph 805 thousand recalls from 99-02 for the same thing! gm customer service didn't even know of the 805 thousand? what a joke!!!! never again will I buy a gm,they don't know about a safety as bad as this?.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2005

Driving to work. Dry conditions. Had 4-5 car lengths between me and car in front of me. Car in front of me stopped. I was going about 30-35 mph. Truck would not stop. Abs did not come on and wheels did not lockup. I rear ended the truck in front of me. It felt like there was no braking power at all. Brake pedal was to the floor. Truck just slowly slowed down. There is definitely a problem with the braking system.

15 Service Brakes problem

During a panic stop/hard brake, braking is insufficiant. With multiple hard brakes in a row, braking power is regained, though return to previous state occurs when vehicle is not driven for approximately 6-12+ hours.
