Carrier/rack problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche - part 1

My dashboard is cracked in two places.

The top of the dashboard had cracked on four different spots on top and two towards the bottom. On of the cracks has gone down to the radio mounting brackets breaking some off.

Typical dashboard cracks at the right upper corner of the airbag panel, the dome over the instrument cluster cracked in 3 places. Concerned about the safety of the airbag if/when it is needed. Vehicle hit a deer this past week, luckily the airbags did not deploy.

Plastic dash panel cracked in four places over airbag and over instrument cluster creating a high risk for shattering or air bag deployment.

Cracked dash. It has been replaced once by the dealer and failed after 3 years. Now it continues to crack at different locations. Dealer said 1 year warranty and $1200 to replace, again.

Dashboard is cracked in several places near the passenger airbag and instrument cluster. It may eventually crack enough that big pieces will pop loose and chunks of my dash will be gone. Abs glue is the only thing that works to join the seams together to stop the dash from shaking and making tons of noise. The shaking likely caused the cracks to grow more also prior to me finally through lots of trial and error successfully gluing it. Hopefully it will keep the current crack from growing. But only time will tell. And new ones will likely appear if the old ones do not spread. Also, the air vent cover has broken in a long crack, and even worse most of the tabs that hold it down have broken off. Thus, it sticks up looking ugly and rattles. This too is likely to break up more from all the rattling.

Possible dash fragments if airbag is deployed. Dash has pointed plastic fragments falling through dash around airbag area. Dash has many complete through cracks around airbag area. If airbag deploys sharp plastic fragments may be projected to passenger. Not only if metal fragments from airbag that may hit windshield and then towards passenger or gas pressure from igniter force plastic with possible metal that ultimately causes airbag to hit passenger.

Takata recall and cracking dash around airbag and cluster.

The dash is cracking bad that where the passenger side air bag has completely cracked off and fell into the inner dash. . . I can not fix this. Is this a defect that can be fixed through a recall of some sort. . . Every time I go over a bump or any slight bump in the truck you can hear the plastic crack each time.

Dashboard is cracked over the instrument cluster and on both sides of the passenger air bag.

Dash cracking.

Dash has cracked and broken at left top corner of passenger side airbag and over instrument panel on drivers side. Entire dash is very brittle. This could lead to serious injury or death in the event of airbag deployment. I have seen hundreds if not thousands of these complaints for all chevy and gm trucks and SUV's in this year vehicle and the years following it. Will it take a piece of dash flying through someone's jugular vein to get gm to finally care about customer safety?.

I am having the same cracked dash issue every other owner is having with these gm models 2007-2014 gm trucks/suvs. I just noticed the three cracks I have, so I am not sure when exactly they started (within the last few months).

The dashboard has cracked around the passanger side airbag. I worry that, if needed, the airbag will not deploy properly or the dash peices WI'll be propelled at the passanger causing them additional injury. The dash board on my 2007 Avalanche has several cracks and there are more appearing all the time. This has to be something the manufacture should fix for customers. I have never used any cleaning products other than a wet towel to clean my dash. I'm afraid this could affect my air bag deployment and cause injury.

The dashboard has large cracks both in front of the instrument panel and around the airbag. This exact same problem has been reported by more than 4,000 gm truck owners. The cracking around the airbag are especially concerning, and likely pose a significant safety risk were the airbags to deploy. Gm is apparently aware of this defect and fails to take responsibility for correcting the problem.

Cracks in dashboard. Dozens of cracks occuring in dashboard started about four years and now is dangerous if passenger air bag is deployed. This is repoted all over th einternet and a class action suit is underway.

Cracked dashboard by the airbag could cause dashboard shrapnel to harm someone if airbags are deployed.

The dashboard has cracked in the top left corner just above the passenger side air bag. This exact same crack in the exact same location has also occurred on my 2007 GMC yukon denali which I will file separately.

The dashboard on my Chevrolet Avalanche started cracking about 12 months ago. After doing some research online I have discovered this has become a common issue with many Chevrolet Avalanche, tahoe, and suburban in the 2007-2011 time frames. I am following what others are doing by filing complaints with NHTSA as I would like this addressed as the crack is in the corner of the air bag which has been recalled via the takata recall.

Dashboard is cracked at the passenger side airbag and on top of the instrument cluster on driver side. I am concerned for my family¿s safety if we're in an accident.

Passenger airbags concern - my dash, along with friends that own gm trucks from 2007 - 2014, is cracked due to what I am assuming is a weak material. The cracks are around the passenger airbags (and other areas). My concern is that the jagged edges and sharp points created by the cracks could potentially puncture the airbag. I feel that gm should recall the dash covers and replace them with a stronger material to prevent cracking.

Dash pad has cracked badly and rattles terribly on bumpy roads. This problem could release shards of plastic at the occupants in the event of air bag deployment.
