The contact pulled over and noticed that the front passenger’s side tire side wall was blown out. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who removed the tire. The contact then stated that the tire was taken to another independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the front passenger’s side tire needed to be replaced. The tire was not replaced. The tire was a replacement tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate tire mileage was 20,000. I hadn't put 3000 miles on these tires all four tires started to separate from the tire and they warped and a knot came on the side of the tires. Tire # 305-40-22,its a manfacture defect in the tires.

Vehicle was on the highway when a small vibration started and transition to a violent shaking. A temporary loss of directional control occurred until I was able to coast to a slower speed and pull off the highway. I discovered the tread had separated from the rear driver's side tire and wrapped itself around the axel and rotor.

The 1st set was purchase with my mileage was 56340 on 6-1-10 they were bfg long trail tour bsw 28531 75 55 20 111t then on 7-2-13 the bfg long trail tour was cracking and I purchased new tires, p275 55 20 111t michelin ltx ms 2 22093, limited 40 month warranty/ 70000 mile warranty. My mileage on my truck was 97444. 2 months later I received a letter for a recall on these tires. On 9-24-13 they put the same p275 55 20 111t michelin ltx ms 2 22093, limited 40 month warranty/ 70000 mile warranty. The dot b99y 56ex 2213 - 3 each and the 4 tire was dot b99y 56ex 2313. These tires are doing the exact same thing as the other 2 set of tires I have had on my truck since 6-1-10 at mileage of 56340 and now at 142348. The currant tires are cracking on sidewalks and between tire tread. See attached pictures. All four tires. I have taken it to two tire shops here in dayton ohio. They both told me that I should do something about it. I've called michelin corporate offices and the are offering me 60% off my tires. I told them it's a safety issue for me and this will be the 4th set of tires since 6-1-2010 with only 86000 miles driven giving an average of 21500 per set. If I'm buying the best tire for the longest warranty I expect the tires wearing out before the cracking of tires and have to buy a new set. I saw online there was a recall on the second set listed above and that's why I had to get the third set but they are doing the same thing. Please help with this issue. It's a safety issue for me and everyone driving around me. The tires are on a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche.
3 of 4 tires, cooper discoverer lsx p265 / 70r17, failed within 8 months of each other due to steel belts separating at approximately 19 - 20,000 miles. The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 equipped with hercules line all track tires (n/a), size 265/75/r16, dot jenkecl, serial nss-010733. While driving 45 mph, the passenger rear tire failed causing damage to the rear bumper. The contact planned to have the vehicle repaired and to contact the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were approximately 87,000.
Tire monitor system indicated that tires were low. Took them to shopand they stated that I should take back to location of purchase because tires had splits. Tookto purchase location and they found cracks in tires but stated they look like impact damage. I took to 2 additional shops andboth stated that tread was peelingfrom tires and advised not to drive. Took it back to purchase place and again they would not resolve. Bought new tires and have old ones at home. Tires 14 mths old and have cracks all around tire. 2 tires dot #'s:v4pr mtr2705 and v4pr 3mtr3805. Will have other 2 tires checked Thursday.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche. The vehicle has firestone wilderness le tires, size p265/70r/16. While driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and called roadside assistance. The rear passenger side tire exhibited excessive tread separation and was replaced with a spare. The manufacturer stated that the tire was included in the recall defect. The NHTSA campaign id number was unavailable. Also, the front driver, passenger, and rear driver side tires exhibited severe feathering. These were the original tires on the vehicle. The dot number was unknown. the consumer stated he hears a wobbling sound coming from the right rear of the truck. He discovered the tire had gone flat and further inspection revealed the tread belt had separated from the tire. Updated 03/13/09.

My new truck is a 2008 I got it on Aug-31-08. For the first 2 weeks it was ok then it start losing tire pressure on all 4 tires I got 1300 miles on it. Dealer says nothing is wrong that that's how tires breath. I had it check by goodyear that's what's on the truck and said the mega wheels are bad. The tires are losing 4 to 5 pounds every 2 to 3 days. I am afraid to drive it I do not want to get hard or my family. Ps help!.

I purchased a vehicle,04 chevy Avalanche ,which has a new set of api,spector advanta SUV tires on it from auction direct in raleigh,nc this Aug. The tire size is 265/70r 17. Dot 3eef manf. Date of 10 08, I believe. They will not run smooth at highway speeds from 50 mph to 65-70 mph with some vibration at lower speeds,after extensive balancing including road force balance, they still shake the vehicle very bad at highway speeds ,making driving awful,the vehicle has been checked out at action direct's service center,and at sir walter Chevrolet in raleigh, nc,the problem was isolated to the tires. In the past 60 days I have had two blowouts andf a flat tire on the original goodyear tires of 2002 avalance. Near multicar collison last week. Firestone said "looks like tires rotten inside" sears said "we have had a quite a few avalances in lately".
Standard tires issued with vehicle were offroad wrangler hp which have very poor rain handling capabilities. I was not notified of this or given option of switching to highway tires with better rain capability. As a result of the poor control of vehicle in rain, front edge was damaged when entered parking lot and was trying to turn on wet pavement and slid into wall when steering was non-responsive due to tire sliding instead of turning. Speed was less then 10 mph. I have found several articles on internet indicating should either replace those tires or have them "siped" to achieve better control in rain. Since my Avalanche is two wheel drive I never thought much if any about offroad use or that the standard tires would be so geared up for offroad use as to make them handle poorly in rain. Capitol Chevrolet service manager confirmed this information with me. I have 40 years experience driving in the north under all conditions with military and civilian vehicles and have never had this kind of problem before with any vehicle with any kind of tire. Military vehicle tires are very offroad oriented but never had this kind of problem in rain. Thanks.
At 7,500 miles I had a blow out on the interstate and had to use my spare, then realized it was a smaller size. I drove to my dealership and they gave me a new tire, and said all of these trucks came with a 16 inch spare. I now have 30,000 miles and now need all new tires. I usually get new tires about every 60,000 miles. I went to the dealership to ask why my tires were wearing so bad and they were not willing to help or discuss this issue.
Passenger tires were supplied with z71 off-road package. I took these tires off-road, and tore a hole one. All4 tire dealers in montrose, CO including the goodyear dealer, said that these are passenger tires, not off-road tires, and that they will be damaged by taking them off-road in the mountains. Chevy's photos on their web page show the Avalanche fording streams, driving over rocks, and driving in the mountains. The owner's manual discusses driving over rocks and logs, "bouncing the car" and having one or more wheels off the ground as things that might be encountered in "off-road" driving. Still, they deliver the nearly 3-ton truck with passenger tires, not light truck tires. Had I not punctured the dire, but only separated the ply, I could have had a serious accident driving the 400 miles back to my home. The off-road package includes skid plates, heavy duty shocks, a tow package, the all-important z71 decal, and upgraded tires. It turns out that the upgrade is not to a stronger tire, just a tire that's 1 inch bigger. Still, the implication is that it is suitable for the off-road use described in the owner's manual and in their advertisements. The safety issue is that these tires are more susceptable to damage when used of-road, and subsequent to failure later at high speed when the driver returns to the highway than tires more appropriate to the task, such as a light truck tire.
