The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact was driving approximately 50-55 mph when the vehicle began to decelerate and drive as if the contact had shifted into neutral. The contact depressed the accelerator and the vehicle was hesitant for a moment before engaging. The contact stated that the failure would occur sporadically at various speed and road conditions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the failure four times yet the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure each time. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted to report the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,500 and the current mileage was 12,000.

Driving on interstate highway in our new 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. It has an automatic transmission. The transmission shifter jumped or was slightly bumped (although I don't recall bumping it) from drive into neutral at 65 mph. Fortunately able to make it to shoulder to return to drive position (didn't know if going from neutral to drive at high speed would have caused damage). Reported problem to auto dealer who said the transmission is normal, does same thing on cobalt model! note: we can push shifter from drive into neutral at any speed without depressing the button on the shifter. Has only happened one time so far.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact stated that the vehicle would continue to maintain speed for miles as pressure was removed from the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the failure would recur at any speed. The vehicle also stalled approximately fifty times without warning. In addition, the vehicle would decelerate independently, the rpms would fluctuate and the vehicle would jerks forward erratically without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that while the transmission was in neutral, the tires would continue to spin excessively on without depressing the accelerator pedal. The mechanic was unable to diagnose or repair the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

My wife has a 2006 chevy Aveo that the shifter went bad, for an automatic transmission. It is going to cost $400. 00 to repair. The car has 76,000 miles on it. Shifters should never go bad.

Went to enterprise rent-a-car, and rented a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. Vehicle was parked at a store. The consumer tried to back out of the parking space, and the car would not go into reverse. It seemed to just lock. The consumer had to use her strength to push it into reverse. Then, took vehicle home, parked it, and tried it later. It did the same thing. The consumer refused to drive it.
During cold weather the automatic transmission refuses to shift into 4th gear for the first 1/2 mile. The "hold" button is not on.
While driving on I-94 made a sudden decrease in speed from 70 mph to 60 mph and car swerved out of control, and the only thing saving me from flipping the car was after market rims and tires. Thump sound, sounded like a flat tire, checked all the tires and they were fine. Checked under the hood, engine was titled to driver's side, after inspection on side of expressway found out that the half shaft was completely destroyed as well as transmission mount bolts. There is no reason for these bolts to fail if the car is driven respectively.
While driving 20 mph vehicle stalled. Consumer was able to restart vehicle. Also, rear seat belt malfunctioned, it did not retract.
Car went through garage door. I placed car in park to leave car momentarily. I t did not go into park properly and car proceeded forward through garage door. The cup holder had a coffee mug with a handle in it. I am assuming it stopped car from going into park fully. I had left car and shut door when car began to go forward through garage door. I jumped in and stopped car or it would have proceeded through a wall. It caused about 2000. 00 worth of damage to car and door. This happened twice. The second time my husband was driving the car. He stopped car and proceeded to place car into park. It would not go completely into park. The same coffee mug was in holder. No damage happened this incident. We both witnessed the car refusing to go into park the second incident.
