Interior dash and console lights in-operative as well as the right tail light. Jesus christ, after seeing all of the people complaining about this our beloved no good for nothing governmental agencies should make gm responsible for the cost of repair for this obvious manufacturers or engineering defect. Or at least send out detailed instructions to the owners on how to fix this problem so they can take it to their mechanic of choice to get it fixed. The dealers obviously don't want to do anything about it. And they charge too much any how. Sincerely, george s.
Update on previous claim #10898024 left side tail light is out and left head light. This is all from the main connector in fuse box under the hood of car.

My dashboard light suddenly went out, at the same time the right tailgate light and the front right light went off. I checked online and a number of people having the exact same problem. It is a wiring issue.

S101 splicer pack overheats and burnt wiring under the hood causing tail light to not work.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
1. Multiple times, my driver side door lock has completely fallen into the door. I have probably had this issue "repaired" five to six times, by both the Chevrolet dealer where I bought the car, as well as my own mechanic. 2. Things that were wrong when we first brought the car to the dealer for repairs in early April 2014. This is the list we gave them, modified for space: *clock a couple years ago, the clock in my car stopped working. Often, the clock would read 1:00 when I turned the car on, no matter what time it was. Sometimes, it would randomly display another time. Eventually, it just stopped turning on altogether. Player three times, the radio and/or cd player have turned on and off by themselves. This has not happened recently. The cd player sometimes works just fine. Other times, it does not. When it does not work, it does one of two things. It will either spin and spin and spin and then spit the cd out, or, more often, it will read “error 7. ” I do not know if the latter is connected to the other issues described here, but the former (the turning on and off) probably is. Daytime running lights the daytime running lights no longer work. My regular mechanic tried replacing the bulbs, but new bulbs did not solve the problem. I must manually turn the lights on. Reverse lights sometimes the reverse lights come on when I put the car in reverse. Sometimes, they do not turn on when I put the car in reverse. Interior lights/gauges about 10 days ago, all the interior lights and gauge lights stopped turning on, even when I manually turn the headlights on. The car interior is completely dark. Fog lights I believe these might not be working either. Interior dome light the interior dome light burned out. My regular mechanic replaced the bulb, and that fixed the problem. Right tail light the right tail light is out.
First, the interior dash lights stopped working on my 2005 chevy Aveo. Then on my way back to my college the tail lights and brake lights stopped working. I had not known this until I was almost rear ended by an 18-wheeler who could not tell that I was hitting my brakes! finally after bringing the vehicle to the dealership it was determined that the gray and white splicer at the top right-hand corner of my fuse box, which connects the wires in the fuse box to the engine wire harness, was so badly burnt from the wires shorting each out spontaneously. They want to charge me $1,290. 00 to replace the part, and that is not including labor fees! in hope to find a cheaper alternative, I called every junkyard and u-pull it location and none of them had the connector because they had already been pulled out and sold since this is such a common problem. As a college student who is paying her own way, I cannot afford to take care of a problem like this, especially when it is a manufacture defect! I heavily rely on my car to get to school and work, and it is terrible to be in such a predicament. I understand this is a very common problem with the same year make and model vehicle. It is absurd that we put our trust into 2005 chevy Aveos only to have our lives put in danger when using them and then have to pay such a large amount of money to fix an issue that the manufacture is ultimately responsible for. There should be a recall for these issues! especially since so many people have been putting complaints in about it as early as 2007, only two years after the car was made! how many lives have to be put into danger before the right party is held responsible for this?! something has to be done about this because it's not fair!.
Instrument panel cluster fuse kept blowing, only when fuel gauge was below half of a tank. Dealer was unable to find problem. Soon after instrument panel lights, gear shift lights, and passenger side tail light went out. Replaced tail light bulbs, and still did not work. Read forums and found the problem was splicer in the hood compartment fuse box. Seems to be a common problem with this car, there needs to be a recall due to extreme safety issues. Cannot see or be seen at night, cannot see gauges when driving at night.
Dashboard cluster lights began to malfunction intermittently then after two days they wouldn't illuminate at all. The gear shifter lights and one tail light were also affected. After repair it was determined a wire harness that leads to the underwood fuse box had melted shorting the electrical wires. Having spontaneously burned, the interior and exterior lights wouldn't work. This made it impossible to see the speedometer, fuel gauge, engine fluid monitoring gauges, etcetera. Also, the exterior lights affected made for a dangerous driving condition as well as a traffic offense. After researching this I learned there are many, many cases of exactly the same problem with exactly the same year, make, and model.
The dashboard lights, gear selector lights, and right rear tail lights, all went out at the same time. I have replaced all of the bulbs possible and all of the fuses are normal and functional. This is a big safety issue because I can't tell my speed engine temp or fuel level while driving at night and I no longer have right taillights making my vehicle harder to see at night.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo. The contact stated that the instrument panel illumination and the tail lights malfunctioned. The contact was unable to read the speedometer or the fuel gauge. There was no manual switch to operate the exterior lights. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test or repairs. The failure mileage was 63,000.
Cluster lights and right tail light wiring shorted out and burnt to a crisp @ distribution power box.
Automobile tail lights, front parking lights, instrument panel illumination lights, and gear shift illumination lights went out at the same time.
Within the first year of buying my Aveo I had to replace headlights 10x I kept taking the car in to get checked and they said it was fine, then one time they said just needed a better fuse (the changed it) worked for about a year then signal lights kept going out, then tail lights. Thought there was short took car in few times they said nothing wrong. Tired of taking the car in, I am a very busy person. So we have been dealing with this problem for about 6-7 years now the dash lights have completely gone out now and won't come back on, leaving us with 1 headlight, 1 tail light and only occasional rear signals. And always smells light wires burning. In sept of 2014 we received a letter recalling the car for lighting problems and still nothing about getting fixed!!! this is only one of many complaints for this car.
