Three problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While at a stop light vehicle was rearended by another vehicle. Seat belt failed to restrain driver. Driver suffered minor injuries.
While driving about 35 mph consumer's wife had a collision where another vehicle crossed the lines and struck consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, air bag deployed. But seat belt did not restrain, releasing child's car seat, and causing head injuries to the child. This problem had happened before, and been reported to manufacturer.
Passenger and rear(2) safety seat belt restraints do not work properly. They lock and stay locked and basically putting a strangle hold on the passengers. The belt tightens every time the brake is applied and does not return to the proper working order.
