Transmission Gear Slipping problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

Three problems related to transmission gear slipping have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2006

: the contact stated that while driving at any speed, the vehicle transmission slipped. There was a flare-up between gears, and a harsh engagement between first and second gear. The vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where it was determined that the on-board computer was inaccurate. There is a NHTSA technical service bulletin # 9774l60e08a, which pertains to the automatic transmission. The contact stated that the work was not performed upon sale of the vehicle.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2002

Transmission slips when shifting to 2 nd and to 3 rd gears. Please provide additional information.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 01/14/1999

Water has been entering windshield nozzle & dripped onto the dip stick for the transmission, causing the transmission to slip. When dip stick was checked, it was rusted & corroded. Had taken to dealer & was informed nothing was wrong.
