One problem related to steering rack and pinion has been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Without any warning driver could not steer the vehicle. It was towed to a dealer, who found that the rack and pinion had to be replaced. Also, windshield wipers operated intermittently.
