2 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

Second failure on wheel hub assembly at 126000 miles (replaced the first time at 58k miles). 1999 chevy Blazer not ever driven off road. Will required $600 a wheel to replace the two front wheel assemblies. This is a design flaw in these parts. Read the 10 other complaints saying the same thing. All at 50-60k miles. . . All with wheel hub assembly. Is it a coincidence tha gm redesigned the part, charges $600 per wheel to fix and is the only supplier of the part?.

3 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2004

Both front wheel bearings assemblies failed on my 1999 Blazer. The vehicle had about 68,000 miles. According to the mechanic, there is no scheduled and/or preventive maintenance for these parts. I understand that continued use of the vehicle with the bad bearings could cause a catostrophic failure. Since the problem is "just noise", and very expensive to repair, the poor design of these parts could lead to serious safety problems as the vehicles age.

4 Front Suspension Wheel Bearing problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2003

I have a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer that is very well maintained. I had to replace both front end wheel hub bearings before it had 60,000 miles on it. There must be defective bearings being put in these vehicles. There is no way a wheel bearing should wear out before 60,000 miles. I wrote to Chevrolet corporate offices & they told me they were sorry but didn't offer any compensation. I am filing this report to help others in the future. It is quite expensive to replace wheel bearings and if enough people complain maybe Chevrolet will take some responsibility for installing defective parts.

Front wheel bearing went bad to the point of making noise and when we tore it down for repairs, the bearing on the ft. Rt. (2wd) their was a lot of metal shavings behind bearing. Upon a search of several parts stores the only source was a dealer item. No problem except for the 487. 00 dollars each, we only had to replace 1 but, this vehicle thathas only 60,000 miles and 2 ft. Wheels this could easily end up being a 1000. 00 fix for front bearing. Ps. Bearings for 4wd were only $138. 00.
