38 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 01/30/2024

I was driving 72 mph, and went to accelerate to 75 mph to set my cruise control. As soon as I stepped on the accelerator pedal, my 2022 chevy bolt euv jerked violently and immediately applied braking to car to take it from 72 mph to about 30 mph within 1 second. Had someone been behind me I would have been rear ended. I was able to pull over to the shoulder of the road, and put my car into park. I was unable to turn off the vehicle or shift into any gears (reverse, neutral, drive). The car displayed a warning on dash "power drive train malfunction pull over safely". There was no warning for the sudden deceleration and is a serious safety risk and concern.

39 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 01/08/2024

On Monday,1/8/24, I got in my car to go to work and the car messages on my dash stated "propulsion power is reduced", "service vehicle soon". I was able to drive to work but noticed the defrost/heater was not working. I called the local Chevrolet dealer and scheduled an appt for Friday at 8:30am. This car had already had a recall performed earlier in 2023 that limited my car charging to 80% but never converted to allow full charging after 6200 miles. I drove home with no /defroster/heater and plugged in the car charger Monday night. On Tuesday morning (1/9/24), the car had not charged at all overnight. It was suppose to charge to 80% (approx 170 miles). When I drove home that evening, a torrential rainfall occurred. My windshield fogged up but since the defrost/heater wasn't working, I had to constantly wipe the windshield with a rag. I thankfully made it home after 6pm and now noticed the car charging was limited to 30%. This is why the car didn't charge on Monday night. The dealership was closed, so I called first thing Wednesday morning to tell the dealership that I needed to drop the car off today (1/10/24) because it was unsafe to drive and I might have to tow the car in because of the very limited charging allowed. They rescheduled the service appt for Thursday (1/11/24) at 8:30am. On Thursday, the repairs took 18 minutes to complete. I received a call from jordan ames at at the rick hendrick Chevrolet dealership Thursday telling me the car was ready to be picked up. . He told me the car had a recall issues on 11/02/23 that needed to be performed. I told him I was never informed about "another" recall. He gave me the gm ev concierge phone number to call. The invoice from him stated "recall - n232421260 false dtc causing unnecessary battery pack replacements 2023-11-02 9106882-0. 4 hpcm2 reprogram wcc: cdyn198122734" . I called the gm ev concierge at 1-833-382-4389 on Friday. I'm running out of characters. Bottom line- I think gm is lying to me. I need help!!!.

40 Electrical System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 12/30/2023

The car was parked and when we went out to it, the stereo was crackling very loud static and popping. This continued when the stereo is off. When we reset the stereo, it stopped momentarily and then resumed. Eventually the speakers stopped and just crackled intermittently. After finding a slew of similar incidents online, I opened the rear to find it totally filled with water (see picture, where it is parked on a hill). This filled the subwoofer and drowned the amp, causing global failure of the stereo system. No liquid has been in the rear of my car, and you can tell it is dirty like rainwater. . Read more...

41 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

Multiple observations of water egress that collects in the rear hatch error, water puddle shorts out audio amplifier and all sounds are disabled. No warnings, no pedestrian warning, no turnsignal click, no audible notifications at all . This is noted on many vehicles and gm has been uncertain as to water access point at this time, meanwhile the customer pays for the repair.

42 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 12/20/2023

Sudden rapid acceleration of car while parking vehicle on December 20, 2023 at approximately 2:00pm. The sudden rapid acceleration caused the vehicle to jump a curb and hit the base of the light pole damaging the right front of the car. Car was towed to the dealership and is currently there. If the car had not hit the base of the light pole, the car could have continued on into a driving lane possibly striking another car or pedestrian. To date , 12/31/23, the car has not been inspected to my knowledge. There was no warning lamps or messages. While reaching down to push the park button, the engine, which is normally quiet, made a loud whirring noise and then lurched forward.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 12/07/2023

About 1 month ago I picked up my daughter from school. Just as we exited the parking lot, there was nothing in front and the brakes came on and the car turned off and would not restart for a few minutes. The same day, we were on the way home I was traveling about 35mph. All of a sudden the brakes came on again. This time there was nothing in front but many cars behind, so I floored the accelerator the car tires screeched. I was less than a mile from home and made it without incident. The dealership is unable to reproduce or review the logs because the vehicle stopped logging everything since December 4th. The car is in my driveway and I don't trust it can safely be driven. The dealership is not helpful by telling me to just monitor the situation and bring it in if it happens again. I am seeing on the internet that there are many people experiencing this exact problem.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 11/21/2023

Chevrolet dealer was unable to install software during 2 hour n212345944 recall service. Stated that due to error codes and were unable to contact technical support for assistance with errors. I was told to reschedule and leave the vehicle for another attempt. My concern is that gm/Chevrolet repeatedly lead me to believe they had a final software remedy and they are not delivering on it. They have had more than three years to fix the problem and I am still being denied full use of my vehicle.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 11/17/2023

On 11-17-23 someone rear ended me making me lose control of the vehicle and getting off the road into the woods and eventually hitting a tree, the airbags did not deploy, the car is equipped with onstar system from Chevrolet as a safety feature in which as soon as there is a collision I supposed to get a call from an advisor so they could call an ambulance and a towing service, it's included in my monthly payment, but that did not happen, no one called me to check on me also the braking system should have prevented me from hitting a tree, the safety system failed.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 10/01/2023

On oct 1, 2023 I drove about 5 miles from home to menards. It was a sunny day. I went to leave and turned on my car and both display screens were blank. Like they were unplugged. The important screen is located behind the steering wheel and tells you your speed, engine problems (if any) and turn signals. The other tv screen just has heat/ac info, radio info, etc. I turned my car on and off 6-7 times in menards parking lot. I left different amounts of time in between tries. . . Up to 5 minutes. Nothing worked. So I drove home with blank screens. I stopped at a taco bell and tried again. Still didn't work. It was like both monitor screens were unplugged. This has happened a few times in the past. About 6 months after I bought the car. The screens went out during a car wash. Champion Chevrolet in avon indiana told my it was probably humidity and don't go to car wash. It happened a year ago on a rainy day. In the past, I only had to turn the car off and on once and the screens would work. This time I tried 6-7 times n two different parking lots. I drove home. Plugged it in to charge and it worked perfectly the next day. Weird and scary.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 09/28/2023

Was sitting at a stop light when I accelerated on green I felt a lurch, it felt like someone had hit me from behind. Within 15 seconds of acceleration this light came on, a car with an exclamination point on it, and said to pull over ASAP. Car would not go any faster than 30mph and luckily I was not on an interstate or major highway. I was able to pull over in a parking lot and at that time the car was disabled. I could not put it in driver or reverse and it did not want to turn off I had to open the door to turn it off. On star diagnostics said it was the electric drive unit not preforming as expected, codes p0a3f and p0a40. Car would not move and luckily it was daylight in the area I was at, at night this would have been bad as I would have feared for my safety as a female alone in a car that would not go. Car had to be towed to dealership and from the dealer "drive motor position sensor erratic. Found bulletin 19-na-220 to replace engine harness (42840881 2525c f-harness) for this concern due to improper instatallation of harness causing issues due to terminal damage".

52 Electrical System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 09/07/2023

While waiting to make a left turn, the car lurched forward about a foot and went into park. It would not shift into any gear. A warning briefly showed up on drivers display which said do not shift until ???? resets. I turned car off but it immediately came back on automatically, and for twenty minutes I was in the intersection blocking traffic (police called to protect me from traffic). On drivers display a car symbol with exclamation point through the car was showing. After twenty minutes I turned it off again and it stayed off until I turned it on. The display of car with exclamation point was still showing. I could then shift into another gear and drive home less than a mile. When I checked car later car with exclamation point display was gone. Everything seemed. I was driving in one pedal mode.

55 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 08/16/2023

I believe the recall remedy gm n21345944 is not sufficient because it dies not monitor the system during the 80-100 % charge. It only allows ip to 80 which is not when it fails. Also it just gives an alert and does not shut down the battery which can allow the fure to happen. According to gm recall 212345940 a new battery was promised. I do not feel safe driving a car which has only been tested up to 80% range when that id not the failure mode. I want a new fixed battery.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 08/04/2023

In nearly exactly the same fashion as Tesla, Chevrolet has reduced my battery range by 15-20% and they don't have any idea when or if they will restore what I've paid for.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 07/24/2023

The contact stated that the infotainment screen had several fractures that suddenly began to appear causing them to no longer have the ability to identify what controls they were activating on the screen. One of the main abilities the infotainment screen provided was that it controlled where the charging source selection for the vehicle in order to be mobile. It controlled functions like the controls for all ac/heating abilities. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who stated that the infotainment screen needed replacing however due to the exact part had been discontinued. Therefore, the vehicle was unable to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and had opened a case regarding the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

63 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 07/10/2023

Although the NHTSA website now reports that my vehicle is longer the subject of a safety recall, NHTSA campaign number 21v650000 was not resolved by the software update that Chevrolet installed on my vehicle on June 26, 2023. The high voltage battery on my car failed only 65 miles after the new software was installed. When the newly installed software detected a problem with my car's high voltage battery, the driver information screen on the car's instrument panel advised me that "propulsion power is reduced" and "service vehicle soon. " that prompted me to return to my dealer's service department. The dealer that sold me the car and performed the "reprogram field action multimodules coordinated sequence" on June 26 informed me on July 10 that the high voltage battery needs replacement and cannot now be recharged. However, neither the dealer nor Chevrolet can specify a date by which the required battery replacement can and will be completed. I have been told that necessary replacement parts will not be available for "weeks or months. " in my case, Chevrolet addressed the risk of fire that prompted NHTSA campaign number 21v650000 by confirming the problem and then rendering my car inoperable. I do not believe that NHTSA would consider that an effective response to the recall.

64 Electrical System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 07/10/2023

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Bolt Ev. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: NHTSA campaign number: 21v650000 (electrical system), and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the recall repair; however, after the repair, the vehicle made abnormal loud while charging. Additionally, the battery started overheating, causing the front end of the vehicle to become signicantly hot. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated he had received a message through the Chevrolet app advising that the battery had failed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, goss Chevrolet (622 us-11, champlain, NY 12919), where the same assessment was made. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and referred the contact to the dealer. The contact stated that the recall remedy did not fix the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

65 Electrical System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 07/02/2023

My wife had just parked the vehicle in our garage and had plugged it into the charger. She walked to the back of the vehicle to open the rear hatch and as she was raising the hatch she felt an electrical shock up her arm, it was strong enough that she immediately came into the house holding her elbow. It couldn't have been static electricity, she was already in contact with the vehicle when the shock occurred, the humidity was very high as it had been raining, plus the vehicle should be grounded through the charging plug. I immediately went into the garage and unplugged the car. Tomorrow I'll plug the car back in and use my voltmeter to check for any voltage between the vehicle body and ground.

66 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 06/27/2023

Our car (2021 chevy bolt) has been under recall n212345940 since September 2021 for a battery that could catch fire if charged to full capacity. The gm recall stated "when parts are available, your Chevrolet dealer will replace the defective lithium ion battery modules in your vehicle with new lithium ion battery modules. " for almost 2 years we've been worried, unable to park our car in a garage or charge to 100%. In the interim, when I spoke to a chevy salesperson who tried to sell me a newer model year bolt, they informed me that all the used cars on the lot had already had their batteries replaced. On June 14th I got an email stating: recall status: "remedy available recall number: n212345944 high voltage battery may melt or burn". I was extremely excited and took the car in last week. As I left I realized that they had not replaced the battery, instead they programmed in a diagnostic tool to try and identify defective battery cells over the next 6000 miles. The recall on my vehicle is now marked complete, even though nothing has changed! the car now won't allow full charging and there's still a danger of fire on a deeply discharged battery. I feel deeply betrayed by the bate and switch and that they've been allowed to call this recall completed.

69 Electrical System problem of the 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Ev

Failure Date: 06/23/2023

I purchased a 2021 Bolt Ev in mid-2021. I am disappointed in how gm handled the battery recall on my 2021 Chevrolet Bolt Ev. In sept 2021 I received notice of safety recall n212345940 stating that the "parts to repair your vehicle are not currently available" and I should "set your vehicle to a 90 percent state of charge limitation". I did so and I patiently waited for the parts to arrive. Parts availability for this recall was unacceptably slow. I waited for 22 months for these parts - all the while my vehicle state of charge (soc) is diminished to 90%. Then in June 2023 gm changed their policy on this recall. The previous recall was marked as “completed”, even though I never received an indication that the parts to repair my vehicle became available. Instead recall n212345944 was issued. This recall installs “advanced diagnostic software that will monitor battery performance and identify defective battery modules”. Effectively it limits the soc to 80% for 6200 miles. If there is an issue detected then the battery modules will, supposedly, be replaced. I have my doubts that this software will ever report such an occurrence. This is an extremely disappointing resolution for the customer. Now my vehicle's capacity is further reduced to 80% soc for, potentially, another 6200 miles. Gm sold me a car, and I paid for a car, that has 100% soc. Thus far I have not had full use of my car and I have been driving it for 2+ years. Where is my compensation for being stuck with this diminished usage? I want to claw back 20% of my purchase price. Very badly done. I am an unhappy customer.
