I have a 2023 Bolt Ev. Right where the odometer it started to go black. I touched it and made it worse. Right now it is not getting bigger but I am worried it will get worse. There is about 75,000 miles, I can't tell miles without the odometer. What would cause this? how do I fix this? would I be able to resale it like that? how much would it be to get it fixed? This is the second time since owning car this has happened the recall battery is not working again this time me and my sister were at the gas station were I work and this is all on camara at chevron gas station were I work I went inside sister stayed in car it started making a buzzing sound under my dash car shut off windows wouldn't go down locked doors could not get car to turn on trapped us in car this is scary and smelled a wire burning smell started to get scared pounded on window couldn't get out ! couldn't unlock doors this is very scary tried hitting window and it would not break we were stuck this has happened once before car just needed plug in to dealership computer to reset car it was fine for 2weeks and bam a month later I'm again having to take it back to have it reset because of this battery recall it's not fixed I still owe 14k for car I totally have been ripped off it's scary that these cars catch fire and u can not get out! can't unlock doors windows nothing and u just get stuck I don't feel safe whatsoever in this car.

The chevy bolt steering wheel has a skip track and previous track button mounted to the left-rear side of the steering wheel. These buttons often become unresponsive for extended periods of time (up to 30 minutes) when a media device is connected. When pressed, they will display an error on the instrument panel screen that says “action unavailable while indexing”. Although media controls are not explicitly safety related, the frustration caused by these unresponsive buttons can cause the driver to become distracted or look for unsafe methods of adjusting the media playback that the buttons are supposed to perform.
The seatbelt grinds away the frame around it.
The car has 80,000 miles. The backup camera has always had an intermittent issue after rain but now has stopped working. I cannot see properly to back up. I understand that this is an issue with quite a few chevy bolts and can/has caused problems with backing accidents. I also understand that the company has known about this for a while, but has done nothing about the issue.
Camera works on and off showing icon ,when reversing rear cross traffic alert also not working.
Backup camera system repeatedly shows as unavailable and may cause death due to low visibility.

I just purchased this vehicle from hertz authorized dealer in December 2024, January 2025 the electrical system, infotainment became non functioning. This caused my vehicle to stall, on star safety charge, etc to fail and not function. No communication within the vehicle that is an electric vehicle that requires this system for all components to function and provide a safe car to drive. Power to vehicle, back up camera, on star for emergencies, charging, this affects all the adas components in this vehicle to function properly causing a safety hazard. Took this vehicle into the dealer they diagnosed this system is down and no communication with radio. Also set false dtc was completed. It is scary that a radio component can cause an emergency service to fail and other components in the vehicle to fail all electrical components in this vehicle. I am writing a complaint to hertz since they stated all was okay when the radio, on star never worked, an update for the main system was no corrected and they failed to make sure the ev batteries were properly connected.
Doors would not unlock. Key fob did not work. Exterior door switch did not work. Interior switch did not work. It was raining that day. After the car dried out the locks worked again.
The rear/front camera sometimes stop working or froze and have to turn off the car, to reset, usually happens when it rains.
Shift selector failed. Could no shift into gear drive, low or reverse. Locked in park but could shift to neutral. No power steering or ac. If this design flaw failure occurred while the car was on the highway, it could cause an accident. I have contacted general motors and reported the potential safety issue and awaiting there response.
I was sitting in the passenger seat of my new 2023 chevy Bolt Ev while parked at a convenience station. The vehicle was on and not hooked up to a charger. I smelled something burning and quickly thereafter I saw smoke coming from under the driver side seat. The driver exited the vehicle and looked under the seat. The driver attempted to put out the fire with his hand and the carpeting under the seat. The fire got bigger. I ran to the closest extinguisher and pulled the pin to extinguish the fire. It was out for several seconds before re-igniting again. Another round of extinguisher foam was released and the fire was put out. I reported the damage to the dealership, the car manufacturer and my insurance company. I towed it to the dealership where it has been sitting since 6/1/24. Nothing further has been done since then. The dealership refuses to assess the vehicle and to date the manufacturer has not sent any inspectors to diagnose the reason of the fire. As a matter of fact my insurance company, the dealership and the manufacturer all advised me to get and pay for my own inspection from a 3rd party inspector which I am working on scheduling now.
The radio antenna/receiver/reception in my 2018 chevy bolt is very poor. There are many areas I receive almost no radio stations, or stations are extremely fuzzy. The reception is getting worse over time. In searching for a solution to this, I have found that there are many accounts, complaints, and forums related to this issue in all model years of this vehicle. The greater community has not found a viable solution outside of buying a separate radio and hooking it up to the auxiliary input. Many others have brought their vehicle to get inspected repaired and told by the dealers that everything is functioning as it should. The quality and operation of this part pales in comparison to all other vehicles and devices I, and others as they describe, have owned. Understanding this is not a "life and death" safety concern, I hope that this issue can be addressed. This is a basic piece of equipment found in all vehicles, and it is important to have access to at minimum public radio in order to receive potential emergency alerts. It seems chevy has done a disservice to their customers in their failure to provide a properly functioning basic component in these vehicles. I hope you can assist the community of bolt drivers in this headache. Thank you.

In all models before 2022, the brake lights shut off while at a stop in one-pedal driving mode. This is a major safety concern that can be fixed entirely in software.
I had service on my vehicle and was told by Chevrolet service center that vehicle could not be released for safety reasons because my vehicle could not accept download installed in vehicle. After three weeks of certified service center and gm tacs engineers and techs communicating back and forth, I was told the originator of download offered the download does not work for Chevrolet bolts ev. Questions remain: 1. What was in the download? was it limited to 2023 Chevrolet Bolt Ev's or other years, models of Bolt Ev's as well?? I have invoice to attach.
The infotainment screen suddenly froze and blasted an extremely loud static noise that nearly caused an accident. It has a lot of problems with freezing.

The cameras for the 360° view, front to sides and back, keep going out. It's been a repair now five times and it still came back. The dealership is running out of ideas of what to do to fix this. I think it's just a known issue that they can't seem to fix. The main issue is the front camera goes out completely and then on mine, the left side camera goes out and is just black where the front camera will be green and not functioning. I think the module that processes data isn't properly made to handle the amount of video inputs coming in and it bugs out. It seems that it's worse when the temperature swing is too much. Currently it's the temperature of hot above 90° the car gets very warm obviously.
When I use the windshield washer fluid some of the vapors gets in the cabin. The fluid contains methanol and it is highly toxic.

I plug in my phone and the infotainment system goes black. It also happens when my phone isn’t plugged in I don’t know what’s going on but it happens when I’m driving.
- the car did not start and we were left stranded in an unsafe place. When I turned the car on I immediately saw and error saying "conditions not correct for shift" and then it wouldn't turn back off - safety was at risk because it was super hot and my 5 year old with autism could not make it home in our own car - not taken to dealer however many reports on social media for the same issue. My backup camera started working intermittently for about a year and now has just stopped working completely. Searching online, this is a very widespread issue with Bolt Ev and euv owners, happening as early as immediately after the car was purchased.
I purchased this car last year and now already general motors has discontinued making them. Is there something wrong with car and why did they quit making them so soon? is there a safety problem with my car? is the battery a fire hazard? Backup camera keeps going out screen turns black.
This is for the recall n222383791 (seatbelt pretensioner fire) that was issued on 12/15/2022. The remedy has been identified as dealers installing metal foil on the carpet near the pretensioner exhaust. Certain vehicles will also need a pretensioner cover installed. It was said that a remedy would be available at dealerships around 1/30/2023. It is now 3/10/2033 nearly three months after the remedy was identified, and it's still not possible to get it repaired at dealerships. This complaint is that the manufacturer hasn't remedied this safety recall in a timely manner.
My vehicle, an a whole host of others according to other owners online, have an issue with defective sealing in the rear bumper and underbody of the vehicle which allows water to enter, flooding the trunk which fries the electrical harness and audio system. As a result, all warning systems including the forward collision warning, lane departure warning, parking collision warning, rear cross traffic warning, turn signals, emergency lights, door ajar warning, and vehicle status warning systems are inaudible. This is not just a nuisance of not having an audio system but posses great danger to the driver, their passengers and others on the road as warning systems cannot be heard. In addition, the wiring harness affects other critical components on the car and considering this is an all electric vehicle, this is of great concern. Chevrolet is well aware of the issue but either instructs dealerships to not cover the issue under warranty or has not sufficiently informed their dealerships that this is a known manufacturing defect that should be covered.

For 30k miles my rear camera view was full screen and proper aspect ratio. At some point after that I shifted into reverse quickly after starting and the view changed to a "zoomed" view. The screen image was fisheyed and 4/5th of the screen. Bulletin no. : 18-na-050 date: July, 2019 is incorrect. Gm sold me a car that had proper full screen display in correct aspect ratio and now it fails to return to the as purchased image. My pickup truck has a button to adjust zoom that mimics this problem. Gm needs to correct the zoom on cars to reflect true image.
Parking brake engages sporadically and automatically and sometime produce loud grinding noise in front of the car. Passenger rear middle seatbelt is not retracting automatically and is not self adjusting. Reverse camera has changed from a full screen view to a smaller screen with wide bars left and bottom of the image that now is hard to see. I believe this changed due to a software update with no warning. Dealer requests me to pay for this issues to be inspected. I believe this are safety concerns and chevy should recall them.
The system in question is the super cruise hands free driving system. There has been several instances where the system has swerved the vehicle without warning or reason. There have been several instances where the system has failed on mapped road. There have been several instances where the vehicle wouldn't drive in the center of the lane, but instead on the lines or too close to other vehicles. I have dash cam footage and cell phone footage of the system failing and can duplicate it without issue. The vehicle spent over 30 days at the dealer and they were unable to fix it. The message that will appear when the system intermittently won't activate is "super cruise unavailable" I have attempted to work with my dealer, gm, and onstar and nothing has been done to take my safety seriously or to fix the issue.
Unknown the vehicle suddenly took off after putting it into drive causing it to accelerate out of the driveway and crash into the house across the street. The vehicle was parked on an incline in the driveway. Application of the brakes failed to stop the vehicle.
My backup camera and surround cameras are not working. I’m getting a triangle icon and camera icon with a line through it. It first appeared when I was backing out of my driveaway then the camera worked again briefly. Now the camera is not turning on at all.
As I drove my brand new 2022 bolt (in use 30 days) into garage, the dash check engine light came on with a notice "reduced power propulsion. " the battery was at about 50%. I tried to charge it and the dash indicated "charge complete. " the reduced power propulsion message is concerningly similar to the error from the previous bolt recalls that have resulted in fires. I took the car to my dealer and they have had it for 40 days and counting and say they don't know when it will be fixed nor do they know yet how to fix it.

Last week, we had our 2019 bolt serviced at a dealership - they had "replaced drive motor battery high voltage manual disconnect" and did some sort of check on the "high voltage battery. " we had also showed them a message we got from on star that an "issue had been detected with the electric drive unit" and get it serviced within seven days. We bought the bolt in the fall of 2019 and it has less than 5,000 miles on it. We are on the waitlist for the lib recall. 6 days after getting the car back from service, my wife was driving the car when suddenly the car went completely dead. Fortunately, she was not on the highway where she could have been killed, but on a quiet suburban street. I came over to assist and we arranged to have it towed to the chevy dealership. After the bolt stopped running, my wife again received the message saying "issue had been detected with the electric drive unit. " they are now working on the bolt. They are telling us that the problems are (1) the 12 volt battery has low state charge power and needed to be replaced and (2) there is a "faulty accessory power module" which they have ordered a part for. They do not think it is lib related. They are not sure what "electric drive unit" means and will need to check with Chevrolet.
Our vehicle's power steering is intermittent. It randomly shuts off, leaving the driver with no power steering. Most frequently, the problem surfaces just after start-up, however, this problem also occurs after driving the car for several minutes, such as when the vehicle is parked but turned on, when the vehicle is in motion while driving, and even once in the middle of a u-turn. Once out, the power steering stays off for several minutes, sometimes only 5 minutes, sometimes 15. Once out, the power steering has a) come back on without warning 5-15 minutes later, while the vehicle is in motion while driving, or b) not returned at all for the duration of a drive. It feels unsafe to drive a car that will lose power steering in the middle of a drive. Imagine you are turning the vehicle around a tight corner at 30mph, and all of a sudden the vehicle's trajectory is instantly changed and/or affected because you aren't prepared to grip the steering wheel and apply force strong enough to hold its position without the power assist. Or, imagine the power steering goes out, and you're driving on natural power, applying force strong enough to keep the vehicle on its intended trajectory, but then, without warning, power steering returns, and you suddenly have to correct by lightening your hold? in both scenarios, the power steering is unreliably putting the driver and passengers, along with other motorists or pedestrians, at risk due to the intermittent and unpredictable power steering problem. Yes, it has been inspected by the manufacturer at a chevy dealership and it was determined: "internal power steering module failure. Verified on road test. Found no communication from steering control module. Test power and ground. Recommend replacement. " a warning sound and a flash notice on the indicator screen both emerge simultaneously when the problem occurs, however, no messages or indications happen prior to the failure. For us, they first appeared in February 2022.
